It's those places that you accidentally discover that often end up surprising you the most. We noticed Fenicia's outdoor menu board that mentioned "vegano" plate on our march down the street to get an açaí bowl. Sadly the açaí bowl place was closed (Sunday's in Mexico) so we headed back to Fenicia. We asked about vegan, and not only were they aware of what that was, they pointed out several options! As we explored the options I asked if the falafel was gluten free. Unlike in the US, it WAS. So, we ended up ordering grape leaves, veggie platter, and an especial plato with falafel, hummus, banaganoush, and tabouleh. The tabouleh was not GF, so my husband got all of that! We rounded the meal out with some bottled water and red wine. The service was impeccable and attentive and the food was delicious. Who'd have expected, Lebanese, vegan, gluten free food in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Not me! read more

This is our first time in San Miguel de Allende and we were walking around the city, taking in all the amazing sites, the incredibly friendly people when we happened upon Fenicia. Well, our timing on the first encounter was was off, as we weren't yet hungry, but...how can say no to to Lebanese food. We walked in and loved the ambiance. Leticia, the owner (I believe), was kind and inviting. We ordered just a quick taste...hummus and pita to go. It was delicious! We knew we would have to come back. Fast forward 3 days and here we are...sitting here having just finished a delicious dinner. I apologize as I am not a food-picture-taker. I am a vegetarian and Lebanese food is something I love. We ordered tabouleh, hummus, dolmas and my girlfriend has chicken schwarma and I had to have my felafel. I lived in the middle east years ago and I know my falafel! Everything was made on the spot. The tabouleh was so nice and tasty. The hummus was smooth and not more than a few minutes old and the dolmas were great! Great start. Then came the rest of the food. The portions were really good, but the flavor was even better. There was nothing left! Our only regret is that we are leaving before we can come back again. You will love it! read more

Fenicia is San Miguel de Allende's premier Middle Eastern restaurant, serving specifically Lebanese cuisine. I only buy my hummus and baba ghanoush at Fenicia because theirs is the best, hands down! Their menu options are varied and the food is consistently excellent and well-prepared by Master Chef Nancy, who is a native of Lebanon but has lived in Mexico for many years. Her partner and cousin, Leticia, runs the dining room and is also the sous-chef. The prices are reasonable, in the $$ range, and the service is excellent. You can get a delicious Chicken or Beef Shawarma (wrap sandwich) for $110 and the beverage of your choice (wine, beer, soft drink, or their specialty, mint lemonade) for less than $200! Fenicia also features brochettes of lamb, chicken and beef and wonderful sampler plates of falafel, tabbouleh, hummus, baba ghanoush, kibbe both raw and cooked, as well as dolmas (grape leaves stuffed with rice). For example, the Fenicia plate contains hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh and 2 falafels for $80. A great value and good introduction to Fenicia's signature dishes. The restaurant also serves a delicious baked red snapper filet platter and has many vegan and vegetarian options as well. And the baklava is to die for! In a town with a lot of great restaurants, this is one of my favorites so far. Delicious, traditional Lebanese. I had the Fenicia Plate, which was a mix of falafel, babaganoush, hummus and tabbouleh with lovely thin crisp pita and a refreshing lemonade with mint. It's on a fairly busy street, but the minute you step through the door, you are in a quiet haven, like a very nicely decorated cave! The service was fast and friendly as well. read more

We found this restaurant on Google maps by accident. This is one of the best Labanese foods I've had. Falafel and chicken shawarma was really good. The kitchen is fully visible and one of the nicest open kitchens I've seen. All in all, will surely go here again. read more

Food is awesome, but the lady who served me seemed annoyed, I asked her a few questions about the menu and she rolled her eyes at me. I am vegetarian and I always ask if the stuff I eat has meat, she didn't bother explaining what she was serving me, she used the plates names like if I knew what they were, of course I know a couple but definitely do not know them all. I asked for an iced tea and again she looked like I insulted her when I asked what kind she had, staying that they "have everything" (most restaurants only have black iced tea), I ordered the rose one and it is pretty delicious. It is definitely a shame service is as bad as it is, I hate rude people. read more
