Came to Trazo 1810 for a nicer dinner on Thanksgiving. The rooftop views were stunning!! Service was attentive and the food was overall very good (although on the pricier side). Dishes I'd order again: - Mini corn: I actually thought these mini elotes were better than the actual elote I had from a street cart while in San Miguel. Overall just very flavorful and there's a good amount of sauce. - The short rib: This was soo good. Well cooked with that fall-off-the-bone texture. Would definitely recommend this. - Mushroom risotto: Not the best risotto I've ever had, but certainly very tasty!! Definitely better than the gnocchi. - Gyozas: I liked these, but I wouldn't say they are a must. Dishes I'd skip next time: - Tuna tostada: This was too sweet for my liking. The bone marrow it comes with is an interesting pairing (but didn't make much sense to me) - The gnocchi: We actually sent this dish back as we really didn't like it. The gnocchi itself was a bit overcooked and the flavors in the sauce didn't work for me. The manager graciously replaced this dish for the mushroom risotto (which was much better). Overall, this rooftop view is really impressive, and it's definitely worth grabbing a drink up there (at a minimum)! Plus, they have blankets and heaters for when it's cold. read more

Beautiful rooftop restaurant with amazing views of the city. Our service was good but not great. He was VERY attentive but hovered and we felt rushed. I think he thought he was giving good service but there is no need to constantly try and move us on to the next course as we are finishing the last one. When we asked about dessert, he said they had chocolate cake. We had to ask about the other items we had seen on the menu. Why not just bring back the menu so we can order dessert from the full list? When asked, yes everything was available. It just felt rushed. Our food was very good. The cheese/fruit plate was huge. The beet and goat cheese salad was very good. I really liked the golden beets. My husband enjoyed the lamb tortellini which was a good main course after he had a LOT of cheese for an appetizer. My mahi mahi was good but the presentation was a little over the top "foodie". Everything doesn't need to be so overly designed. It said it came with beans but it was a VERY minimal amount of beans. There was one tiny spear of something - I can't even remember what because it was a toothpick size. For dessert we got the chocolate since that's all he told us about. It was Cardamom and chocolate dolly cake, dark chocolate gelato, seasonal jam. It was good! This restaurant thinks they are fancy and the setting is but the food needs to be a little less deconstructed (see the photo of the chocolate dessert, beet salad and mahi mahi main course). This place is definitely an amazing vibe when in town! I came here for a special dinner for an amazing friend while in town on a bachelorette trip. I really love the atmosphere and the details and everything from there music to the lighting, to the menu. This is a Mediterranean restaurant and had a very interesting menu. When I saw the octopus on the menu I immediately jumped on it! I was not let down, it came with a smoky tahini sauce and arugula. The octopus was perfectly tender and cooked to perfection and paired very well with the tahini and arugula. I had an amazing and refreshing watermelon Mezcal drink and I was not disappointed. The rooftop seating allows a perfect view of the city and an amazing sight of nearby churches. Someone in our group got the fettuccine plate with a salted egg yolk and they were pleased. Another person got the pork chops and was exceptionally pleased. There was the mahi-mahi dish which I heard was also exceptionally well. There was also a pumpkin ravioli with a ginger foam which from my understanding did not go off very well. Overall I was very pleased by this establishment and I feel that they did a great job at hosting a special dinner for a special person. read more

We arrive here late on a Saturday with no reservation. Don't get me wrong the place was extremely busy but after a 2 minute wait in the exquisite hotel they offered us a table on the rooftop. Wow what a view. Service was impeccable and the food too. I ordered the short rib with a glass of Zinfandel. It needed no knife the taste was amazing and it melted in your mouth. read more

I had no problem eating vegetarian appetizers and main entree! I apparently have to go back for the baby corn salad. My waiter recommended. The service was phenomenal. The shrimp risotto came with apple slices in it, which didn't quite work. And the short ribs were so fatty that I couldn't finish them. Plus the prices are on the high side. Trazo 1810 has a beautiful rooftop restaurant located within a block of the central square. I ordered the enmoladas and a cappuccino. The enmoladas were basic but well executed and my cappuccino was perfect! 3 out of 6 in our party got the croque madam and all of them joined the clean plate club. read more

Such a stunning rooftop restaurant located on top of Hotel Casa 1810. Me and some friends grabbed dinner here while in town for a friend's wedding. The weather was chilly and to our surprise the restaurant provided nice blankets to keep us warm as we dined in. The rooftop area also has heaters if you are one of those that are always cold. The food was great and sine the restaurant was on the rooftop we were able to catch beautiful views of the sunset and the gorgeous town of San Miguel. read more

A new style of hotel/restaurant has come to SMA over the last decade. Hip, chic, modern is in. Often there will be art displayed or for sale on the ground floor. Lodging is the next level up and on the rooftop there will be an open air restaurant. Such is the case for Trazo 1810. Liked: lovely views of the city and the churches. Novel dishes on the menu. My wife had the gnocchi and said it was great. Could've been better: we had to be "announced" by the front desk before entering the restaurant. Say what? I thought we had one of the least desirable tables, located at the very top of the entrance stairs near the service desk. As our waiter explained, there are only two choices for a glass of wine available. There is a lengthy wine list, but apparently nearly all of these are only sold by the bottle. I did like the Tempranillo from Spain, which was sold by the glass. The music was either hip-hop or some other genre that I can't define. Didn't care for it. Disliked: I ordered the pork cheek dish with Pepita sauce. While the food tasted good, I was shocked to find a stone about the size of a tooth on the plate buried in the sauce. Fortunately, I didn't break a tooth. I did mention it to our waiter who said he would take this up with the chef. Never heard another word from either of them about it. Impecable service and food. I was shocked to see there were reviews claiming service was not what we experienced which was extremely kind and attentive staff. We are staying here at 1810 so breakfast is complimentary and we were blown away by how delicious and beautiful each dish was. Our favorites were the chilaquiles, vegetarian omelette & French toast. We've loved the food so much we also had lunch and ordered the Wagyu short rib - & wow so yummy! They have a unique take on common dishes and although they are higher prices for Mexico, it's well worth it! read more

Very, very disappointed! We moved here recently and was recommended by friends. We were placed by a station where the staff stacked empty plates. We asked them them to remove it which they did. Started with cocktails, they were fine. We ordered 2 appetizers which were ok at best, the Burrata cheese which was hidden behind all this salad which was tasty and their gyozas. We ordered a steak to share but it was so raw as we ordered medium rare but that piece came straight out of refrigerator that it was barely flamed. They brought a hot skillet to try to cook it but we took it home. We also ordered the mushroom risotto that was gummy and cold as well as an order of french fries that were cold and by the time they came back with a new order we were done. So they went to waste We ordered champagne and not once did they even service us after they opened the bottle. We ordered two desserts and they were bad, the crème brûlée, tres leches, and the chef made a special one for us, all bad. We ordered coffees with baileys and they were fine. We were disappointed so asked to speak to the manager and sommelier. I told them of our experience and they were very nice. They offered us options. I respectfully DECLINED. I paid the bill and tipped 20%. I told them, we are not looking for a free meal. We will give them another try but they are one of the most expensive restaurants in SMA. Gorgeous rooftop restaurant. Good food, some really excellent (the pear and Serrano ham risotto was extraordinary), but marred by very very slow service. Dinner took 3 hours, 1 hour of which was with nothing in front of us. No water, no napkins, no silverware. The waiter did not have his head in the game at all. read more

Ten years as a food writer and restaurant critic for Ohio's largest daily newspaper makes me cautious to review places. Most are well intentioned and hard working places that serve a place to their communities. Trazo rates absolute top of my list in San Miguel. The food is trendy without trying. The flavors are spot on and the service impeccable. The menu is broad enough to satisfy most. The daily I worked for made us visit three times before commenting on the meals. Today, was the first visit, but I am sold and can't wait to return over and over. We are back to the frigid weather on Sunday but I hope to make one more visit before leaving. First time visit. Great location in Hotel 1820. Lovely view and design. Food and menu unusual. No specifically Mexican items though lots of local ingredients, as chef Allen explained. Short menu, but good choices of meat, fish, etc. I had a delicious rum drink before dinner, though I usually don't drink mixed drinks. Wine by the glass menu boring - didn't check wine list. Octopus interesting but a bit bland. Waiter talked me out of rabbit risotto. Wonder if I should have tried it? Wife had salmon and shrimp (shared 2 dinners with friend). Somewhat subtle seasoning. Banana dessert delicious- chocolate less so. All food plated beautifully - perhaps a bit too precious? Excellent service by Jesús. I give it 4 stars because: 1. Need to try again 2. Quite expensive. $100 US plus tip (without bottle of wine) is top end here, and should be almost perfection. Not there yet, but who knows? read more

The setting is so beautiful, we had a great view of San Miguel's three main churches. Sitting outside feels extra safe in these times. The staff were polite and of course masked and shielded. Absolutely amazing food and incredible service. The restaurant is small and just gorgeous. The ambiance is impeccable. There were 4 people in our group and we each tried different things. I had the octopus salad to start and can't stop thinking about it. It was so unusual and the flavors were incredible. The suckling pig was my main course and it was as good as anything that I ever had in Spain. So many great things on the menu and everyone in my party was thrilled with their selections.
