Fenwick Inn has had a make-over. It's nice inside but literally zero security. I don't mean security like armed mall cops, I mean, checking passes for parking and mostly for people coming in and out of the hotel. Let me tell you, anyone can jump in this pool in here or come thru the front door to get a free latte or coffee. No one stopped me and my daughter when we walked in to see her dad. We could've spent the day in there swimming and drinking lattes all day long and probably slept in the car in the lot. That's the security Im talking about.. Put key swipe mechanisms on pool doors and all else. Even bathroom doors. Otherwise, room was ok and it's about 100 yards from Delaware. Its surrounded by great places to eat and shop and also sitting across the street from beach front condos.

This place deserves a new review from me. I stayed here one year ago and since that time, this hotel has made some major improvements. The staff was wonderful. The young lady that checked us in was very friendly and informative. She also let us check in two hours early, which was much appreciated after a long drive. The entire hotel has been completely remodeled. It's it modern, coastal, and comfortable. The pool area was clean and bright. They have a little mini market offering snacks and toiletries. They also offer a very basic continental breakfast with muffins and fruit. There are laundry facilities onsite. And the property is still pet friendly. They don't offer daily housekeeping but you can request service if you need it. This will be my go-to hotel when visiting OC from here on out. Highly recommend!

We booked a dog friendly room via Expedia on 5/21. When we called to confirm after 45 minuted in a hold loop we were told we couldn't stay and that they had no specific pet friendly rooms available- even though their stated policy on Expedia was the standard pet fee and that we would have to call Expedia for a refund. We found this all out at 8 pm on a Friday after driving to ocean city from Westminster so 4 or so hours in the car with dogs. At this point there was literally nothing dog friendly in OC to book so we started to head the 4 hours home. We reached out to Expedia who had to confirm with the Fenwick Inn. Luckily we had time to spare on our drive home because this started a 3 hour ordeal where the staff lied to Expedia and told them that we could have stayed for a standard pet fee. We had to escalate again and again within Expedia to get someone to finally authorize a refund as the Fenwick Inn also dishonestly told Expedia that they don't have specific pet friendly rooms and that their policy is different than what the message you after you book. All of that to essentially try to steal our money. Infuriating.

CLEARLY STATES CHECK IN AFTER 3pm NOT 4pm.

The hotel is completely lacking in customer service. We arrived at 3 pm because our Priceline itinerary indicated that check in is after 3 pm but when we got to the front desk Kira who was extremely rude and condescending told us that we in fact made an error because Priceline states that check in is at 4pm, that is completely false. We were then checked into a DOG FRIENDLY floor which is the last thing I need on our last day in Maryland. We heard two dogs in separate rooms barking up a storm as soon as we got on the 2nd floor. Kira said they were "almost booked" (whatever that means) and as a result we had to settle on a room on a dog friendly floor. AC barely works and there is an over powering almost pungent smell which I deduce is to cover up the dog smell. The pool is packed with children which is fine, children should be able to swim and have fun but it prevents people who want a peaceful dip in the pool from swimming because of the splashing and child's play going on. The hotel itself is okay, it's 2 stars so I wasn't expecting the ritz but it's really he incompetency of the staff that makes this hotel a FAIL. HIGHLY UNIMPRESSED!

The location was great the staff was friendly and wearing masks. Check in and check out was very easy. We booked a pet friendly room and when we walked in our room smelled pretty rancid. We called down to ask for room freshener or spray because we had gotten in late and noticed the hotel was pretty full and getting a new room would probably be unlikely (although we did not ask). They came up quickly with a bottle of room spray and told us they'd wait at the door for us to finish with it so I sprayed the whole room and gave it back. After a while you stop smelling it but occasionally it would waft through the air again. We left early in the morning to start our day and told the front desk of the smell and they just wrote it down and thanked us for letting them know. I never expect pet friendly rooms to smell exceptionally good but I expect it to be somewhat neutral not rancid. I might stay here again and just board our dog but I don't think we'll be returning to the pet friendly rooms.

Ask the Community - Fenwick Inn

    Is there breakfast included here?

    No, breakfast is not included.

I'm very scared for bed bugs, and some reported that there are bed bugs here in Fenwick. I'm staying there starting August 21, and I was wondering if anybody experienced bed bugs here?

We stayed for 3 nights the first week of August and did not see any. There were no signs of them in our room 701 during our stay. I check for the stains and eggs or bug presences before I let the family bring in the bags.

Does this place have bed bugs, seems like everywhere nowadays has them?

When we stayed there in spring 2016 and again in spring 2017: nope, the linens and towels were serviced every day. The rooms are very well-worn not dirty.

He was on point throughout our entire dinner from the first hello to the end. For starters we were served rolls with tri-butter ensemble, followed by the TR crab dip appetizer served with house made potato crisps. Decadent and creamy there was lump crabmeat in every bite. It is worthy to mention Ashore Resorts where Tide Room is located is a registered True Blue Restaurant that serves authentic Maryland blue crab. We also had the baby arugula and kale salad and it was cool with crisp greens. A well balance of the goat cheese gives this salad A+ for pre-dinner enticements. For beverages we had an array of selections - En Fuego, Cloud 9, and OC Old Fashioned. All were great, my old Fashioned was strong *wink! For dinner, we had the Blue Crab Truffle Carbonara, and the 10oz. A4 Wagyu Coulotte. Everyone enjoyed their entrées. A simple modification for my carbonara with gemelli instead of ziti was granted and I was a happy gal. I appreciate the balance of the pasta to crab ratio. Generously portioned this dish! The 10oz. wagyu prepared medium was a highlight... the marbling and that fat cap was incredible, it was so buttery tender. The ambience is bright and the open dining space welcomes loud chatter! Definitely book reservations if you can, and specify indoor/outdoor, by the window, and booths are best for couples no more than 2. Tide Room does a great job accommodating celebrations as there were several parties celebrating the night of my visit. Parking is onsite and some overflow is across Coastal Highway. The room was on the first floor and that was perfect for us as we both had an injury. The room had 2queens in it, tv, refrigerator, desk, full bathroom with dove soap and shampoo. The room was clean and comfortable and we were able to sit, sleep and eat comfortably. The room was clean, the indoor pool was a bit disgusting with no filter running and the water was warm and greenish-gray. That is the main reason I am not giving a 5 rating. We were interested in the indoor pool bc it was raining outside where the other pool was. We ended up NOT GETTING IN ANY POOL. We were not going to chance it in the pool bc of potential infections in the water and it wasn't clean. Overall it wasn't bad but the pool was a problem. I'm giving them 3/5 because of that pool and the breakfast available in self service and was extremely crowded and not enough seating. There was no fresh fruit, or anything that I could eat (I'm keto) so I did eat a little bit of chobani yogurt but it wasn't the Greek yogurt I eat. That was a disappointment to not have keto friendly food or vegan options. They need to catch up with the rest of the world and have options for both regular food, vegan and keto options. A few small changes to the food available would make this a much better place. I also noticed that they don't give you any water or anything when you check in. I have stayed in many hotels and every one always has a bottle of water for each person (free) and a snack (apple, orange, cookie etc) this location didn't. I'm also going to say that when we checked in the man & woman at the desk were rude, and the man acted like he didn't know what he was doing and he asked the woman who had an attitude towards us. So I have stayed there before with my family for soccer tournament and it was much better and people nice and friendly and helpful back then. It is not like that now!! Beware of the hotel prices as well. For a 1 night stay in a double queen room was $242/night. Definitely not worth that price. My friend booked it using her and her husband rewards program and when we arrived they said where's the primary person on the account. My friend said she booked it and used her credit card but because her husband name was on the rewards program they said they had to get him to ok it. They said they would have to call him. My friend explained that would be difficult since he passed away this year. They were quite confused about what to do and they had to call a manager for this despite my friend using her credit card and the same address as her husband obviously but they were trying to make it difficult for us. I'm not recommending this hotel for 3 reasons. 1. Filthy pool indoor 2. Rude staff and not properly trained 3. The free breakfast which we were looking forward to didn't have any vegan, keto or healthy options. It was cereal, pastries, pancakes, etc and self serve so I don't feel comfortable eating anything that dozens of people have breathed on, touched or who knows what. I'm going to give them 2/5 overall for the reasons stated above.

My son found the chicken cooked enough, I found it a tad undercooked. The cheese fondue was very good, but I think it was "split" giving it a slightly lumpy texture. There were plenty of potatoes and veggies for four on the platter. We HAD to have dessert, but as stuffed as we were , we ordered for 2. There was more than enough for 4. As well, previous igloo visit options provided fondue for 2 (not 5!) and could be altered for one meat and one seafood eater however this time we would've had to at $240 to get both. At minimum $120+$10-$12 extra to add one skewer. Although the ambiance is an "experience" it was not a satisfying culinary experience. As well, it was not clear we couldn't divide our checks up amongst each couple as most all restaurants can do. (Can only do 2 checks, we had 3 couples) It was more cumbersome on the waitress and us than just charging each couple one bill, we weren't sharing food or said put half this on each etc. it was clearly just 3 couples. As for what we did get... if crab dip hadn't had a shell in it I wouldn't have believed it had any crab in it, just cheese flavor. Steak skewer was well done (no choice given) yet veggies were aldente (to say the least). Wine was good but limited selection. I really don't understand why I can eat one think inside yet can't 20' away we would've had a much better experience if some accommodating had been offered on any of the above issues.

There were things we noticed in the room like where the floors had been hammered repeatedly which seemed odd for somewhere that appears so stylish and nice. They also had a lot of sink and give which made me wonder if there was just carpet underneath. I don't know.
