So we were in Boston and of course they're working on the red line, so we had to take the bus up to…read moreHarvard. Getting there was a saga, every person you spoke to at MBTA told you a different place to catch the bus. We ended up walking 16 blocks. We finally get to Harvard and we're randomly let off where I've added pics across from the TD bank but there's nothing clearly labeled which buses to take or not. On our way back we had to ask multiple bus drivers which bus ours should be to get back into the center of Boston. Bit of a nightmare, really. Clearer signage is a definite must, esp on days when it's raining, which it was.

This stop on the C branch of the Green Line MBTA has no services and few markings. It is a street…read morelevel platform with a brightly painted waiting area between the tracks and the roadway. There is no structure here to wait for the train out of the elements. There are no audible or visual announcements of the next train, though it is on a straight stretch of Beacon Street where you can see down the tracks for a good distance. Englewood Avenue is between Cleveland Circle (outbound, the terminus) and Dean Road (inbound). There is no machine here for adding value to your Charlie Card or purchasing a Charlie Ticket. The station is not handicapped accessible. You must board the train at the door with the driver so that you can swipe your card/ticket. Trains do not stop here unless the driver sees you waiting (if you're looking to board) or if you press the "stop request" button (if you're looking to disembark).

Yep that's definitely happened to me. Thankfully this one isn't located in the depths underground like Porter Square requiring multiple long stair cases/escalators to resurface. Aside from that logistical annoyance, I also have a horror story about how I was trapped on the red line trying to get to Seaport for an event for well over 40 minutes. There were issues with our train and if you know the Inbound line between Kendall/MIT to Charles MGH there is a vertical incline to clear the Longfellow bridge between the stations. (We didn't make it far before trouble happened.) Unfortunately the train struggled to climb and remained stuck waiting for assistance and updates. Disturbingly every 5 minutes or so we could feel gravity sliding the car back a few feet as well. I felt bad for the train operators who announced "we apologize for this inconvenience, we will get this train moving momentarily" every few minutes. The apology while appreciated lost the impact after the first few iterations. I was extremely late for my event, which thankfully I was not presenting or speaking. The worst aspect was we were trapped. No additional cars behind us until they decided to hitch our dead train to another to propel us to the next station where of course we all poured out at Charles MGH in the overcrowded station. Ever since that incident I have been wary of any red line delays.

It is located underneath Interstate 93 but is still outdoors. You're covered from the rain and snow but not the wind or the cold. It is an island platform station, which means that the doors open on the left. There are audible and visual announcements of the next incoming train in either direction. There is no parking here. The station is completely handicapped accessible. There are turnstiles at street level and the usual automated ticket vending machines. The station is between North Station (inbound toward Forest Hills) and Sullivan Square (outbound towards Oak Grove).

There are plenty of businesses along this stretch of road if you are looking for a coffee shop or meal. Elevators from sidewalk to platform on both inbound and outboumd sides of the station, or take the staircase down. Entrances are across the street from each other. Tap to pay at the turnstiles. No facilities available during our visit. Signs on platform let you know how many minutes to the next train. This station is on the red line. (No parking at this station.)

Ave. and Pearl Street has become a homeless encampment with people on…read morethe benches, on the ground, under makeshift tents with blankets thrown over the benches, some harmless, some yelling, acting up. Bus riders can't sit, some feel threatened and stand away from the bus stop. Cambridge PD can't do anything unless the MBTA requests it. A request sent to the MBTA to have their own officers check the stop once in a while went unanswered, I half suspect that a T employee / social justice warrior trashed my message.

Tappan Street features a small half-enclosed glass waiting area but no kiosks for purchasing a ticket or announcements of the next train. The station is not handicapped accessible and there is little space or protection between the tracks and busy Beacon Street. This neighborhood is a bit more commercial with restaurants and some shopping nearby. As with other surface-level stations on the Green Line, the driver will need to see you in order to stop the train so you can board, or you'll need to press the "stop request" button if you're on board. Note that you will need to board at the front of the train so that you can swipe your Charlie Card or Charlie Ticket. Tappan Street is between Washington Square (inbound) and Dean Road (outbound)

Iconic Boston views! This stop is a drop off for the Esplanade, one of the most picturesque spots in the city, so it makes the area, including this outdoor stop a nice place to get off or wait for your train. Clean, pretty easy to orient yourself and the views! Did I say the views? It might have the best ones in Boston and beyond!

The station has a minimal amount of cover from rain but it's not much. You're going to be experiencing the weather here for sure. At least there is a decent barrier from the traffic of the very busy Comm Ave. This station does not have an audible or visual announcement of the next train. It has some handicapped access with a portable ramp for wheelchairs to access the higher platforms of the Green Line trains. There are no ticket machines or turnstiles here. If you are disembarking here, you will need to press the "stop request button." If you are boarding, you will need to do so at the front door next to the driver so that you can provide payment. Surface level, but the station does have decent cover from the elements. There are audible and visual announcements of the next train in both directions. There is a portable boarding lift for people who need assistance getting onto the higher platform trolley cars. As well, the station features a small building with a few kiosks for purchasing your Charlie Ticket or adding value to your Charlie Card. If you are boarding the train here, you will need to do so at the door closest to the train driver so that you can provide payment. Disembarking will require pressing the "stop request" button but it's a popular station so it likely will stop anyway. Woodland Station is between Riverside (outbound, the terminus for the D branch) and Waban (inbound). This is definitely a nice station and I am a fan.
