    Pup on trail

I have done this trail before and loved it. When it's warmer you'll run into people rock climbing along the way. This is the earliest in the year I've gone and it was very muddy. Definitely need some hiking boots for now unless you have a pair of tennis shoes that you don't care about. It is also a dog friendly trail as long as they are on leash. I took mine off to take a pic ‍. I have also heard about people breaking Into the cars parked so make sure you don't have any valuables left in your car. A lot of the hike is shaded and you constantly get to what the water running from the stream. There are so many yellow flowers out towards the beginning of the trail right now It's beautiful!

Ferguson Canyon is a great in town hike if you're looking for something that involves some shade. It starts out pretty sunny but quickly goes into shade. This hike is extremely steep so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with a heart condition or with issues adjusting to the elevation. The hike more or less follows the stream so it's easy to stay on trail if you follow the stream. Without knowing this fact, it can be easy to lose the trail. When I hiked this trail over the weekend, the route was full of rock climbers! This must be a good spot for rock climbing in town. They say that when you get to the top, you will find a "bird man" shaped rock but I climbed so far that I started getting to a really sketchy area that was probably unsafe. I probably should have turned back when I found myself climbing through brush and slipping on high rocks covered in moss. Anyhoo, I climbed and climbed and never saw any "bird man" shaped rock! I would recommend turning back earlier than I did! I probably could have injured myself! Wearing proper footwear is a must on this hike!

They offer way more classes and they have multiple levels of bouldering. The rope climbing also seems to be rated slightly easier and there's way more options for rope climbing so there's more room to spread out. The walls are also taller so it's great for working on your endurance. If you come on a weeknight, it's still pretty hard to get a top rope spot. I will frequently switch to lead climbing because there are more options. Just don't forget rope! They do events here sometimes but I find that the events are way better at the downtown location. It's probably because there's not a ton of space just for hanging out. They have a pretty killer cafe, just like the downtown location but it closes annoyingly early. Why is it that every time I actually need to buy food, the cafe is closed?! I also find in general, this location is more chill, people are just less intense. That's my take, it's based on no real personal experiences, it's just a vibe.

Everywhere I look these days, it seems that people are posting pictures of amazing fall colors. We…read moredo live in a beautiful state and it's appropriate for us to step outside, take a look around and appreciate when nature shows off. I joined a group of hikers and hit the trails this past week, in search of some great fall colors. Bell Canyon did not disappoint. There is plenty of parking at the trailhead, including clean bathrooms. The first part of the trail is pretty rocky and has a decent elevation gain-poles are helpful, but at the least, have good shoes with some traction. Once you get to the reservoir, it's pretty flat and there are lots of places you can get amazing pictures. Be sure to take some time down by the water-it's so calming and just beautiful. There were some detour signs on the trail, so we didn't get the full experience (not sure why it was closed, but we tried to follow signs until they suddenly stopped. So we turned around and came the way we went.) Overall, it's a beautiful hike and I'd love to come try it again when the trail is open.

It took us about 4 hours to hike approx. 6 miles with short breaks in between for water. It's a mixer of flat, incline, rocky, slippery (snow still out towards end of hike), upward steps, and mini bridges to cross over small water streams. There are surrounding plants and trees, but most are barely blooming. Didn't see any wildlife animals, but saw a few squirrels crossing our paths lol. The hike itself wasn't too hard. I'd rate it intermediate. It was only challenging because the paths towards the end were slippery due to snow still out and melting. It was fun with some close calls. Luckily I found a stick on the way to use. We passed by the lake at the beginning of the hike, which was nice. Once we reached the waterfall, we took a refreshing break; snacked a bit; embraced the beautiful nature; and then, headed back where we started. It was harder to hike down the slippery snow than it was to hike to the waterfall. I'd come back to hike this place during fall to see the vibrant color of the trees.
