Sooooo I'm really kind of torn on this one.
First off, let me post that Feri is currently at 13223 Ventura Blvd, Suite C I believe, in the Wave Beauty Salon.
Okay, so let's touch on the Pros first. I went to see Feri because I purchased her Groupon deal for a haircut and partial highlight. She did a really great job on my color. After she put my foils in she kept re-opening and checking the color and actually brushing it through with her fingers to make sure it was spread evenly and not leaking. I've never had anyone do that before. She also did a nice job on my cut. I told her I basically just wanted a trim but feel free to add some additional layers to my hair if she thought I needed it. I side-part my hair, and she went through the heavier side of my hair and got rid of a lot of the bulk which made it lie much more nicely.
Also, she informed me that as her Groupon customer I would receive a discount from here on out. She said a haircut and highlight would cost me $85 (not sure if she meant partial or full highlight though). But still, a consistent discount is always great.
So for the Cons. When I called to make my appointment and talked to Feri, I had a really hard time understanding her. She has a thick accent, which wasn't really the problem, but she was also talking very quickly and kind of under her breath, so add all that together plus the background noise of the salon, and it combined together to make a slightly prolonged and very awkward (at least on my end) phone call.
So when I talked to Feri on the phone, she did mention that the address listed on the Groupon was wrong and gave me the new street address. She did not mention, however, either the Suite number or the name of the salon she was currently in. For all I new she had moved to a brand new store with a big sign that would say "FERI" on the outside. No such luck. And, of course, 13223 Ventura Blvd. has at least four or five Suite numbers to its address. So after wandering past all of them I called Feri and asked her for the Suite number. So I got there, no problem really, but I thought it was a little agitating that she hadn't given me that information in the first place.
Now I know a lot of people really love that chit-chatty atmosphere that often comes with visiting the salon, but me, not so much. But I can always talk it up a little bit and respond with continuing conversation whenever the stylist inevitably keeps trying to fill the silence. But Feri is just so soft spoken. Every time I'd hear some noise come out of her mouth I always had to pipe up with, "What was that?" or "I'm sorry what?" or "Hmm?" And half the time she wouldn't even be trying to talk to me, she'd be talking to someone else in the salon which I couldn't see because I'd have a layer of hair covering my eyes. Ugh.
But I tried to cut the awkwardness, I really did! Whenever I actually caught what she was saying I'd respond back with something light-hearted or silly in an effort to loosen her up around me. It never worked. Toward the end of the appointment, she asked me if I had her phone number (in order to schedule a future appointment). I said, "Oh yeah. It's the same number I called when I got lost and couldn't find you, right? Ha Ha Ha." Silence. *Face Palm*
So I'm really torn down the middle with this one. She really did do a nice job on my hair, but EHHRMERRGERD I felt SO awkward the entire time I was there. I don't really know if getting the discount is worth going back and feeling like a jackass the whole time. Ugh. I'm still deciding! read more
