I paid $620 total (including a 15% tip, $540 before tip) for a balayage and haircut, which felt extremely high--especially considering the haircut alone was only $80. During the appointment, the experience itself was uncomfortable. Chemicals were dripping onto my face, leaving stains on my forehead, and when my hair was washed, the water was cold and splashed everywhere. A few days later, after washing and styling my hair the way I normally do, I noticed how off the balayage looked. My roots already appeared very grown out--almost halfway down my head. I understand balayage is meant to grow out naturally, but this looked like it had been done months ago when it had only been a week. Even my family commented that it looked grown out. I called the salon to see if they could fix the top portion, and I was told my stylist, Angel, would call me back--but I never heard from her. Overall, I'm really disappointed. Not only was the service expensive, but the results didn't meet expectations, and there was no follow-up or effort to make it right.

Very disappointing service and an even more disappointing response to a legitimate customer complaint.

So this time, I let the manager, Sabrina, know in advance that my daughter preferred a different stylist. Sabrina became defensive and accusatory, telling me she wasn't going to let me "blame and dismiss" her stylist. I calmly explained that wasn't my intention at all -- I was simply requesting a different stylist for my daughter's appointment, which should be a reasonable request. Instead of listening, she was dismissive and rude throughout the conversation, and stood there chewing gum the entire time, which came across as disrespectful and unprofessional. This isn't an isolated incident -- this location has consistently had staff who are rude and dismissive. It's disappointing to pay for a membership and never know whether I'm going to get a good experience or a frustrating one. Drybar needs to do a better job training staff at this location on basic customer service.

I took the plunge to go blonde (for the first time in a looong time!) and knew I needed someone I could trust. I booked Ruben at Alchemist Salon after scouring every salon in Los Angeles. First off, almost every salon charges an arm and a leg for a Brazilian blowout alone, but Alchemist's prices were surprisingly fair. I saw all the good reviews, and I figured I'd roll the dice. Spoiler alert: best. Decision. Ever. Walking into Alchemist, it has this cool, unpretentious vibe. No over-the-top glam but chic and still upscale. You get greeted right away, and they offer you coffee, snacks, water, and ambiance. Cozy comfy couch, chill conversation, a cute little dog runs up to me to say "hi". Then Ruben comes over, and right away, you can tell this guy knows his stuff. I'm talking "has a game plan" vibes. He listened to what I wanted, gave honest feedback on what would look best, and explained every step of the process. If you've ever bleached your hair, you know it can be a nerve-wracking experience - but Ruben's confidence totally put me at ease. The bleach process took a while (as it should), and Ruben was super attentive the entire time, checking on my hair like it was a delicate science experiment (which it kind of is). I got a few laughs out of him making sure I didn't end up looking like a toasted marshmallow - definitely appreciated that sense of humor. The final result? He nailed the shade, and the tone is absolutely perfect - cool blonde, but without the ice-queen look. Just what I wanted. Then came the Brazilian blowout, which Ruben clearly has down to an art. I've had Brazilian blowouts before where I walked out feeling like my hair had been practically shellacked, but Ruben's work left my hair smooth, shiny, and somehow still natural-looking. The difference is night and day; he gave my hair that smooth, frizz-free look without making it look like I'd dunked my head in a vat of gloss. The kicker? The price was exactly what they said it would be online - no "surprise" fees, no pressure to buy random products. It was exactly the price I expected, which is practically a miracle in LA. Overall, I feel like Ruben gave me a mini makeover that actually feels like me. So if you're on the fence, go see Ruben at Alchemist Salon. The whole experience - from the vibe to the coffee to the top-notch service - is worth every penny. First things first- Chante has no idea how much she means to me. I hadn't found a stylist in LA that I could mesh with yet, so I sent out some messages on yelp to see if anything would stick, and the miracle that is this salon happened!! I went with my boyfriend who has a 3a/3b hair texture, we've been having a LOT of trouble trying to find someone other than a barber to cut his curls without breaking the bank and kept getting rejected by stylists. I asked her if she did curly hair, she then offered to cut his hair while my color processed and not only was it super convenient and looks INCREDIBLE, she still made time to cut/style mine before her next client. She is just so kind, willing to talk you through pricing, (which is such a relief for me as a frugal gal, every other stylist I've met out here has made me feel like garbage for asking about price ranges) and she truly made us both feel like valued customers on top of just being a very real person. I just can't express how much relief my boyfriend and I both feel having finally found someone we feel comfortable with, we spent the whole night gabbing about how we want her to style us for our future wedding lol. The blonde color wasn't covering my grays any longer. I then decided I'd like to change my color to a redhead. Kaitlin knocked it out of the ball park! Boy, did she get it right!! I'm a cooper queen, and the color is stunning! I can't tell you how many compliments I get on my hair. My hair is healthy and shiny! I also love going to the salon to be pampered. The atmosphere has a calming vibe with beautiful artwork and plants all around. It's a unique quaint salon in the city of Burbank. This salon could be easily mistaken for one in Beverly Hills, but without breaking your pocketbook! I highly recommend it, and I highly recommend Kaitlin!!

She was quoted a 6-hour timeline, but ended up trapped in the salon for a grueling 12 hours (9 AM to 9 PM). The real shock came at checkout when she was hit with an astronomical bill of $1,800, which came out to $2,300 after a 20% tip that she felt completely obligated to give because of the pure time spent by the stylist Sai. Worse than the price, her hair was severely damaged by the aggressive process. Her natural curl pattern was completely stripped, and the hair began breaking off any time she touched, brushed, or styled it. When we asked the owner, Sai, for guidance on professional deep conditioning or repair treatments to help recover from this, she simply told us to buy a retail bonding line and offered zero actual support or follow-up assistance. For thousands of dollars, you expect high-end expertise and client care, but my wife left with ruined hair and no support. We will not be returning.

I…read morehad liked my previous experiences with her and had sent her new clients, but will no longer be recommending her after my last visit as I found her communication and business practices to be quite shoddy. I confirmed the price with her ahead of our appointment and once again during our consultation. I had also received a discount code from her that she said she would apply to the visit. Midway through our appointment while we were making small talk she abruptly informed me that she would be charging me more than what she herself had confirmed during the consultation. It came out of nowhere and was very disorienting. When I reminded her of the discount, she made something up on the spot about how the new higher price still reflected the discount. It was super shady and vague and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I could not leave because my head was wrapped in foil and bleach when she chose to announce this change. The color also did not come out the way we had discussed and she pretty much rushed me out of the chair while we were still within our appointment window and kept making passive aggressive jabs about how she had other clients coming in and how she should charge me even more. It's clear that she was disorganized and had not planned her schedule well and was taking that urgency out on her clients. I found the experience to be unprofessional and baffling and will not be returning.

Genai is the most unprofessional hairdresser I have ever encountered…read more As tears were running down my face because I was concerned that my hair was getting shorter than I wanted, Genai insulted me, mocked me for being upset, and dismissed my concerns instead of showing even the most basic level of professionalism or compassion. Rather than taking a moment to communicate with me, she told me to leave before my haircut was even finished. I walked out with an uneven, unfinished haircut and was left shocked by how I was treated. No client should ever be humiliated for expressing concern about their own hair. The haircut left awful and uneven and The treatment was far worse !
