Oh my goodness - I wish I lived closer to this spot. Referred to us by a local the 4 of us popped in after a freezing cold day to find this cozy, fireplace ready spot waiting for us. The food was so so good, the service was quick and kind, and the ambiance is so cute! Throughout all my travels I kept wishing this spot was around the corner. The food is delicious and very fresh looking. We were on a tight schedule, after explaining the server not only got us a table without any reservation but also brought everything I ordered to us within thirty minutes. Which left us about 30 minutes to eat. Love the little patio outside with the pretty flowers, not to mention just across the street there is a wonderful little park. What a great experience. Starting with being warmly greeted at the door. The menu options made it hard to decide which dish to try. I had the salmon with leek cream sauce over a bed of green vegetables that were perfectly prepared. My husband had the linguine pasta with chicken that was very tasty. To finish off the meal we enjoyed one of the best tiramisu desserts I've ever had, and I have tried a lot in various countries. The best meal we had in Pitlochry! read more

Ambiance is very cute. Flower boxes and outdoor seating. Inside feels authentic in an old cottage with teal walls and exposed stone. Venison entree was awesome and sticky toffee pudding same. Sept 2024, we wandered in after leaving the Highland Games, and were greeted warmly and shown to a lovely table. Everything was timed just right - the bringing of menus, taking our orders, delivery of food. We had the soup of the day which was great, the baked potato with chili con carne, surprisingly good, and the "big guy" chicken sandwich which was very good. Topped it off with a sticky toffee pudding, with ice cream, and loved it. What a refreshing meal to not have chips as the omnipresent side to everything. I would definitely eat here again. read more

We dined here the other night for my father's birthday dinner. Food was excellent. He had the venison and my husband and I shared the green salad with halloumi and mushroom linguine. We did not have a car as we arrived by train and my father wasn't up to walking back to our hotel since it's uphill. The taxi driver said it would be an hour. It was possibly the owner or manager (I can't remember his name) offered to drive my dad to the hotel. Such a nice thing to do. We were very taken aback and grateful for such wonderful service. Good dinner in Pitlochry, Scotland. Restaurant was very busy but they still were able to seat us before they closed at 8:30. We ordered a vodka lime and a bitter lemon to drink and a bottle of water. We started with some fresh bread and tzatziki sauce 4/5. For dinner we ordered the tagliatelle arabiatta, not spicy at all or very saucy, but the noodles were good 3/5. We also ordered the Prime Scotch Beef Steak 8oz accompanied by tomato and mushroom, two onion rings, hand-cut chips and a peppercorn and cognac steak sauce 4/5. The steak was cooked medium but the middle was still very bloody, better to ask for medium well. The flavor was good and I was able to eat it all but two bites. For dessert we enjoyed the cheesecake of the day which was drizzled in toffee, delicious 5/5. read more

This was our favorite restaurant during our two week holiday in Scotland! The place itself is super cozy and relaxed. Service was welcoming and attentive. The food was amazing - we had the duck and the pork fillet. Both perfectly prepared. But it was the sticky toffee pudding we splurged on for dessert that made the night! Wow was that good!! Nice place, good quality food, family friendly, good service. And a somewhat different menu as your standard pub fare. The main point however that is pulling our vote down was the long wait time. It took approximately 1h for the main course to arrive, counting 1 starter. For a weekday lunch this is simply too much. They apologized though. Besides that, everything's great. read more

I was in Pitlochry with some time to kill and was looking for a nice pot of tea and something to go along with it. Fern Cottage has a deal for a pot of tea and scone, so I happily obliged. The scone was average, nothing special. My pot of tea was ok... a tea bag in a pot. Nothing special. I think the best part was sitting outside with a nice view of the park. Great for people watching. It seems that they must have a tasty lunch and dinner menu, but I was there too early for that. read more

Scottish-Turkish fusion cuisine is featured at the Fern Cottage. For the most part, that means that they serve traditional Scottish dishes that you can mix and match with Turkish (or generally Mediterranean) ones. But every now and then there will be a crossover, like baklava served with raspberry sauce and cream. We had crawfish Marie Rose on a bed of salad (read shrimp cocktail) and fish cakes with sweet chili sauce, the latter being the better of the two. For our mains we had grilled lamb kebabs with tzaziki and chips and venison medallions in a peppercorn cream scotch sauce. Both main courses were good. All in all, a good meal. The one downside was their choice of background music which ranged from Michael Boulton to Meatloaf. read more

We have been driving all over Scotland and finally landed here for the night in Pitlochry, on our way to Edinburgh. This was easily the best meal we've had during our entire visit so far! Pitlochry is full of tourist attractions and tourist-oriented dining establishments, but you should pass them by and have cocktails and dinner here, instead. There's a nice selection of special gins elegantly and artfully presented with tonic water, and the food is outstanding--we had a tabouleh salad and a mozzarella linguini that were both really delicious! Seriously--this was really, really good food. There is a wide range of fish and meat dishes to suit any desire, even a 10-ounce rib-eye steak, which I would have ordered if I could eat that much! It's a comfortable place with a charming dining room and a friendly staff and--evidently--a highly skilled chef. read more

We had a pleasant evening meal here a few months ago. Inside, the restaurant is a little '80s', being predominantly red/black but it actually worked very well. The food was pretty good and we paid approx £60 for 3 courses and wine. Good location in town, but tucked away down a little side street. Also does lunches, though have not been personally. Best dinner my wife and I have ever had in the UK. Seven years ago my then girlfriend and now wife had the most amazing meal at this location. A meal we will never forget and is dearest to our hearts. The food, the service, everything was perfect. Really great food at a reasonable price. The venison was perfectly cooked and the mussels in cream saucr were phenomenal. Highly recommend!
