We made a reservation that day (it seemed pretty packed early October so we got the last available spot). The staff here were very friendly, and we didn't have to pay until we arrived at the site. It was so affordable! With a Good Sam discount, our one night stay amounted to just ~$34! We were very happy with the price, which included full hook-ups (+ cable TV), a shower house, and a swimming pool (? I think). The next morning, we had our propane filled at that site and left. The owners here were very thoughtful and organized. Thought the campground wasn't very big, when we drove in, the owner had us follow her in her golf cart so we knew exactly where to pull in and how to park our extra truck. Will come back again!

I enjoyed the mixed variety of Trail Lengths mainly just because I'm not much of a hiker myself. The state park is actually a solid place to check out if you're in the area or are coming to the area since there's many things to check out especially on this side of the Shawnee National Forest compared to the east side. There's plenty of parking spaces and amenities at most of these trailheads. The area is still a well-kept secret in my opinion that I don't feel like a lot of tourists still come and check out. Overall, the state park is actually worth checking out and thankfully the parking is free or you don't need a parking pass of any source

We stayed at the recently renovated Holiday House, and it was fantastic! There were 5 adults and 1 toddler, and we had so much space, with the little one able to even have her own room. And a big enough space that no one woke her when she went to bed earlier than the rest of us! From the patio lighting to the fire pit, it was just such an inviting experience. And everyone was so kind and helpful. While we're from the area, we came into town for a wedding in Paducah, and even though it was a little bit of a drive, I would do it 100x over to get to stay at Holiday Hills. A pond is located in the center of the campground spaces where most RVs can choose to park. (I did choose to get a spot near the pond where I watched fellow RVers do some fun fishing---ex. catfish, baby large mouth bass ). Trees abound in RV areas, providing shade and fresh air. Amenities include 30 to50amps, clean water connections, electrical and sewer hook-ups, plus just less than 3.5 miles drive to the groceries, fast food places, department stores, etc. Each RV pull-through space and back in slots have ample space for extra vehicle parking. Park has an existing covered/ well lighted pavillion for barbecues, open playground with slide and swings for kids, gated pet area where you can leave your furbabies to run without leashes....and the coin-operated laundromat is always open, so with the public restroom-- which is kept really clean. The group of RVers who have comeback more than twice(like me) have noticed the consistently well-maintained walking areas, well-lighted walkways, pet area/ grassy areas always mowed, and ample trash cans that keep this place spotless. The real kicker is their current RV spot prices, whether daily, weekly or monthly---soooo inexpensive!

Flush toilets, antibacterial hand soap and spacious hot showers. Bathrooms are meticulously clean by campground standards. Camp sites are spaced nicely for privacy, clean and well kept up. Water is easily available and drinkable. Jennifer the camp manager is the nicest person and will help you in anyway she can to make sure you have the best experience. Ice and wood sold there. I loved that quiet times are posted from 10pm to 6am. We definitely will be back here. During Covid this was the only place we could go and felt safe.

Thankfully we lucked out and we didn't get rained on but this place was still pretty busy. Depending on when you show up parking can be a bit Limited. The trails to the top is not too long either but the interaction is so long and breathtaking. I've never been to a park since I've been to Matheson State Park where you are able to climb on every little thing. The views here and the experience is unlike any other. It felt like I was back in the Smoky Mountains but with less tourists. They have public restrooms here as well though if there's a line it could take a while. Me and my wife spent a good few hours here and if you follow the trail it will take you right back to the parking lot. We also enjoyed that this place is also dog friendly too!

I also liked that the multiple or compiled sandstones was the last we saw as opposed to the first, like a grand finale. And then the gradual decline on the way down to complete the circle. We found this campground on Passort America while we were on our way to Chattanooga. Not only was…read moreit a good value; Danielle (one of the owners) was probably one of the nicest people I've ever encountered at any campground. She got all of our info and told us which site we'd be in. We didn't have to give a credit card to hold the spot and when we got there, our reserve tag was on the site (site 15). She emailed me a site map so we'd know where to go. When she said it was right off the highway and behind the Marathon Station and Motel 6, I started to wonder. But she also said they were in a valley to where you couldn't hear highway noise. We finally got there and it was nice. Literally right off the highway. We took the first right after the Marathon Station and drove down into the campground (which is the only thing down the road). So truly, you could barely see the sign from the Marathon. From my window I can see the motel 6 at the top of the hill (and it looks like a nice one). It's a quaint little campground, only about 30 sites. The owners want to build a bath house and laundry facility. The roads are gravel but the sites are all concrete with a gravel approach pad. There is a dump station as well as firepits and picnic tables at most sites. But, I liked the fact that they are right next to the Livingston Trail system. The gate was closed but my dog and I could get thru/under it. Did I mention it was fall, so the leaves were beautiful. All in all this was a great little place to spend the night. It was quiet and felt very safe to us. If I had things to do in the area, I would definitely stay here for the value. We were in a 43 foot motor home with a tow vehicle and didn't have to unhook.

For the two that are open, the rooms are blazing hot but the showers are very cold. Not quite ice cold but the are not even "like warm". Totally unacceptable. Maps suggest that a road leads to another forest park, but the road does become unpaved dirt and gravel before the point of crossing under the main highway. The water fountains did not work for me. It is a free park with some interesting features and a variety of possible uses.

Booked a month long stay here to see our son at Murray State. It was off season - quiet and…read morepeaceful. Owners can make or break a campground and these folks are fantastic. They are on site everyday and keep the place well maintained. They are friendly, helpful and not rule crazy like some campgrounds - the only rule I heard was try not to park in the grass. My wife will cram herself in the RV shower to avoid public showers, but here she was happy to find nice clean restrooms with great shower facilities. Only downside is no sewer on sites but they come around and pump your tanks when needed, which given the availability of great public showers isn't needed more than one a week.
