We booked in March and they did not communicate that we would not have running water on our site and we booked a full hookup site! They said it was on the website in fine print. That is not helpful or obvious. There is also a utility of some sort on premises that has an extremely loud motor!! It goes on and off 24/7. We stayed there in 2021 and it was doing the same thing. We thought it would be fixed by now and that it surely was just a problem then.....but no....it is 2026 and still doing the same thing. Not a peaceful place unless you are staying far, away from that utility. They said it was a bad motor that needs to be fixed. Well, why don't they fix it? It has pretty views of the lake but we will not be staying there again until we make sure there's no loud utility and that we have FULL hookup.

In the office is a gift shop and store where you can pet on their sweet golden retriever , Sophie. There's a fenced in pool, pavilion, and laundry room with games, puzzles, and books. The grounds are immaculately clean and well maintained. During the week it's very quiet and peaceful, then on the weekends it fills up with families. Despite this, it was never loud! It's located less than 5 minutes from Lake Barkley, about 1-2 minutes from a gas station and Dollar General, and 15-17 minutes from Walmart. Lots of things to do in that area. We were sad to leave but look forward to visiting again. I will be recommending this RV resort to anyone who will listen!

She got all of our info and told us which site we'd be in. We didn't have to give a credit card to hold the spot and when we got there, our reserve tag was on the site (site 15). She emailed me a site map so we'd know where to go. When she said it was right off the highway and behind the Marathon Station and Motel 6, I started to wonder. But she also said they were in a valley to where you couldn't hear highway noise. We finally got there and it was nice. Literally right off the highway. We took the first right after the Marathon Station and drove down into the campground (which is the only thing down the road). So truly, you could barely see the sign from the Marathon. From my window I can see the motel 6 at the top of the hill (and it looks like a nice one). It's a quaint little campground, only about 30 sites. The owners want to build a bath house and laundry facility. The roads are gravel but the sites are all concrete with a gravel approach pad. There is a dump station as well as firepits and picnic tables at most sites. But, I liked the fact that they are right next to the Livingston Trail system. The gate was closed but my dog and I could get thru/under it. Did I mention it was fall, so the leaves were beautiful. All in all this was a great little place to spend the night. It was quiet and felt very safe to us. If I had things to do in the area, I would definitely stay here for the value. We were in a 43 foot motor home with a tow vehicle and didn't have to unhook.

Because everything in the area was booked, a Reserve America representative let me know which sites were available here on a first come first serve basis. We arrived at about 10pm on a Wednesday night. The sites that RA told me were available were luckily empty, but blocked off by orange cones. We went to one of the camp hosts to confirm that we were ok to stay the weekend there and he approved and said to move the cones and settle up in the morning. Because it was dark, we had no idea what the surroundings of the site looked like. Luckily, the next morning, we found out it wasn't too bad. We were in site 41, which was a pull through site. That means that you don't have to back in. Usually those type of sites cost more, but we paid the rate of a regular site. Our site wasn't in view of the lake, but it was within walking distance. There was a boat ramp, floating dock, and even a beach. The entire property is so immaculate, I just had to stop and compliment a lady tending to the beach area. She was so sweet and informed me that she takes care of the entire campground all by herself. From cleaning the bathrooms, to raking the beach, it was all her. I've been to many campgrounds this year and this was the most up kept. That lady is amazing!

Check-in was efficient, and the staff was exceptionally helpful. Throughout our stay, we experienced no issues with the water supply, electrical, or sewage systems. Our pull-through site accommodated our 35-foot trailer without difficulty. While the Wi-Fi, as is common in RV parks, was not optimal for streaming, it was sufficient for basic phone and tablet use. The water had a noticeable chlorine taste, but our in-line filter and Brita pitcher resolved this. Paducah was conveniently located, offering a wider selection of stores and restaurants than anticipated. The campground offered various activities during our visit. Each morning, a vendor sold fresh baked goods, jams, and jellies, which we found to be very good. Mark Cope provided a BBQ wagon, and his BBQ and potato salad were also excellent. The park also hosted an ice cream social and a wine tasting by "Purple Toad Winery," a family-owned winery in Paducah, KY. There is a lake on-site where fishing is available, and bait is sold. We will certainly choose Fern Lake Campground for our next visit.

A pond is located in the center of the campground spaces where most RVs can choose to park. (I did choose to get a spot near the pond where I watched fellow RVers do some fun fishing---ex. catfish, baby large mouth bass ). Trees abound in RV areas, providing shade and fresh air. Amenities include 30 to50amps, clean water connections, electrical and sewer hook-ups, plus just less than 3.5 miles drive to the groceries, fast food places, department stores, etc. Each RV pull-through space and back in slots have ample space for extra vehicle parking. Park has an existing covered/ well lighted pavillion for barbecues, open playground with slide and swings for kids, gated pet area where you can leave your furbabies to run without leashes....and the coin-operated laundromat is always open, so with the public restroom-- which is kept really clean. The group of RVers who have comeback more than twice(like me) have noticed the consistently well-maintained walking areas, well-lighted walkways, pet area/ grassy areas always mowed, and ample trash cans that keep this place spotless. The real kicker is their current RV spot prices, whether daily, weekly or monthly---soooo inexpensive!
