This is the cutest plant shop. I came by here one Monday afternoon looking for a few small plants for my office at work. I quickly fell in love with a handful of plants and found adorable pots for each one too. Need an air plant? Fern has them. Need larger plants? Fern has those too. There are also plenty of crystals and small items to add to your pots. I might have even picked up some cute little gnomes to hide in my plants. What I like most about this place is that the folks that work here are super helpful. They will plant any of the succulents or other plants you purchase into a pot you pick out. That way you won't have to purchase any extra potting soil. So, it has easily become my go-to place to get cute plants as to give as gifts to friends and family. There is also a small parking lot in front of the building, making the business easily accessible just outside of downtown Spokane. read more

This is my favorite Fern shop! Located on West Riverside bordering downtown and Brown's Addition is the cutest plant shop full of beautifulness. So many gorgeous plant, pots, hangers, trinkets! My friend and I headed in to look for easy to care plants to spruce up our work desks. Everyone was so helpful and they will even pot your plant for you which is awesome. This is a great local business to purchase a gift card or gift for a special someone. Can't wait to go back and shop again. read more

Though healthy and aesthetic, everything seems to be overpriced. (They do have a discount section in the corner though.) If one is into supporting a local plant business, this could be a good place. This plant shop is sooooo CUTE! We stumbled upon it by mistake after having breakfast and coffee next door. We were in town to pick up our new puppy from a local breeder in Spokane and we got very distracted by this plant store and actually ran late haha My fiancé and I have always loved plants! Once we got a house together we filled it with plants and actually turned one of our bedrooms into a "Plant Room." This shop had soooo many cute plants to choose from, air plants, monsteras, snake plants, succulents, you name it! They also have a great selections of cute pots! Very, very cute decorative pots, draining pots and standard ceramic / clay pots. The lady that helped us answered all of our questions and helped us select a baby monstera plant with lots of little new growths. We picked a white pot with a drainage hole and she potted it for us and wrapped it up for us so we could take it on the road back towards Seattle. Prices were a little on the high side, but overall you get what you pay for and it was a fun experience! read more

A good selection of plant's in a great older building with several other quirky shops. The owner seems very knowledgeable and if you're looking for a particular plant they will try to find it for you. Price of plants are a bit higher than if you bought them from greenhouses, but in convenience it's not much more. They have a rewards program, so if you're a regular visitor make sure you sign-up. Overall a very nice, organized shop. A must stop for any plant lover. read more

Can we just talk about how fantastic this place is?!?? I absolutely love everything about them! So knowledgeable and friendly! Their plants are beautiful and well kept! You can ask anything about the care and preservation! Very clean just exciting to go inside. Lol I just go in randomly to see all the beauties! They also have a membership which you get free plants!! I love the building as well! They will replant and transplant them for you as well! Lots of pretty pots and stands available. I could spend hours here lol. I already have! Absolutely love the newest plant shop in Spokane! I attended their soft opening as well as their grand opening and I love everything about this cute store. All of their plants are super healthy and do well at my place. It's like Build-a-bear but for plant too; they let you chose & buy your plant and pot and then re-pot it for you for free! I now have about 6-7 plants from them and I will be back for more for sure! I would highly recommend shopping here for your plant needs (plus there's a coffee shop right across the hall)! read more

I came in with lots of questions about different plants at home and about ones I wanted to add. they had a wonderful selection of popular plants including air plants. once I had picked out my plants and pots I wanted, the clerk offered to pot my new plants for me. that has never happened to me before. Best plant shop. Like ever. Coming from living in SF with a plant shop on every other corner, I wasn't expecting much from Spokane (and I was right). BUT, once Fern opened I was beyond in love. Fern has everything you could ever want, plus the cutest pots. My favorite thing about Fern is the affordability of the plants and accessories. I don't feel like I have to spend an arm and a leg to get a gorgeous plant and pot. Bonus - they will pot your plant for you when you purchase a pot. The owner, Amy, isn't always there, but the staff member I spoke with today was so knowledgeable and friendly and gave me plenty of suggestions on how to keep my fiddle happy during the winter. I bought a plant there and a pot to get it repotted in the store - they just filled a pot with soil and flopped the plant on top without teasing out the roots I had to redo it at home cause I noticed it wasn't doing well and had to inspect. read more

I love the vibe at this shop, and they have a wonderful selection of plants. BUT be careful what you purchase at this shop. I spent $100 on Dracena Santa Rosa less than two months ago. They planted it in the pot at the shop. The plant started wilting from the day I brought it home. It didn't matter what I did, it was withering. I went to throw it away yesterday, and realized why. The plant literally had just ONE root coming off the stalk. One! There's no way that a plant could survive with no root system. So I took it back to the store today, and the guy told me there was nothing he could do. He said that it must have something to do with the potting. But they potted it! If they really have knowledge of plants, they must know that it was irresponsible of them to sell such a high priced plant, with so little chance of surviving. The least he could have done was to offer a discount on another plant. Terrible customer service. I'll never go back, and will tell everyone I know about my experience. read more

Wow, this place has such negative energy! This place is overpriced and the manager and some of the staff at the downtown Spokane location on Second Avenue are extremely rude and unhelpful. Another reviewer noted that they offer "repotting" if you purchase a plant and a pot. However, the repotting is done with no finesse. Further, they don't offer any helpful advice, such as whether the plant being repotted is dry or wet and what the current root system looks like. It is exactly that - plonk into the pot that is being purchased. I brought a $30+ lipstick pagoda plant home from this store after it was "repotted" by the manager and it died a slow, miserable death within 2 months. For a place that touts itself as a boutique small business, one should reasonably expect a certain level of customer service and expertise. Likewise, don't expect any help if you have inquiries about why a plant you purchased is not doing well. The female manager at the downtown Spokane location will undoubtedly say it's your fault and offer zero solutions or tips. I have spent hundreds of dollars at this store, but I won't be going back unless there is a drastic improvement in customer service. It has been a long time since I have felt so unwelcome and discriminated against. If you want a good and happy plant shopping experience, check out Ritters or Plant Farm. read more

They had the prayer plant I was hoping to find along with a wide variety of other plants--big and small. The gal working was super friendly and knowledgeable when I asked about care and growth. Upon first glance of the Fern plant store, it appears to be a warm, gentle, and and hidden gem of a store. But when looking closer, the customer services shows need for improvement. The man who appears to run the coffee bar, was not educated in the pricing, nor the plants overall well-being. So your questions will be directed to the checkout man. When checking out questions about the heavily priced plants, will be looked down upon. From my experience with the checkout staff, they talked down to me about my questions. The man who checked me out. I had earlier overheard was the owner. He was abrupt, rude, and condescending to such an extent I gave serious consideration to leave my purchase on the counter and keep the money I planed to spend. Overall the store was very welcoming and tastefully laid out, but to me the prices did seem a little steep and the customer service definitely needed improvement. read more
