He emailed me an estimate and I contacted him later to start on my first project. I bought a Rubbermaid resin shed and he agreed to assemble it. It's been 4 weeks since I bought it. It's rained every day he was scheduled to come until last Friday. He emailed me that morning and said he could not come because he thought he had food poisoning. Later that day I emailed and asked if he was feeling better, if so could he do it Saturday because there was 0 % chance of rain. I did not get a reply. I figured he might still be feeling poorly so I didn't contact him again on the weekend. I realized I had his business card , called and he said he was just getting ready to email me. He agreed to come today , if there was no rain. I emailed yesterday afternoon and told him it was clearing up today. No response, I called the number on his card, there was no answer but a voice mail repeated a number that's not even in Michigan. I emailed again last night , nothing. I called the number twice today , it's now DISCONNECTED. No reply to my email since. The only reason he got a star is because #1 I had no choice and #2 he DID pick up the shed from Home Depot in his truck because I don't have a big enough trunk. I can't fathom why he would do that but stand me up on the actual work.

Our front doors were in serious need of restaining and we asked around and had a few quotes but one…read moreonly worked on new and previously unstained door, some were quite pricey, and some would do the staining if the doors were cleaned and prepped. We contacted Handy Pro and sent them photos as well as a description of the Fiberglass doors and got what seemed a reasonable quote. The temperature needed to be at least 40 degrees for re-staining. On Monday, 02/24/2020, thanks to the near 50-degree weather, we were able to proceed. The original flakes needed to be stripped off first. From start to finish, it took Mark Widmaier of HandyPro three hours to get the job done. Mark was very professional and focused on getting the job done right. He even had us closely examine the finished job to point out any areas or spots needing touch ups. We're quite pleased with the result. (We did need to leave the doors slightly ajar until bedtime but was well worth the inconvenience.) Before-and-after photos of fiberglass doors are posted. Of course, durability is important and we obviously won't know about that for a number of years. Handy Pro has experienced skilled trades that can tackle pretty much anything you could need for your house. Mark himself has many skills beyond prepping and staining a door. On top of that - damage to adjacent areas such as gouge in my floor, paint on brand new light fixture, damage to oven when driving screws to seat, paint on cupboard, etc etc, They came back a couple times but everything still isn't fixed. I'm attaching a photo showing my new oven that they installed - It wasn't seated properly the first time (wasn't flush to cupboard / wasn't screwed in) so they came back to "fix" it and now it has significantly damaged my wall.... And - I live in Northville. I've updated my Yelp Profile but it still shows California. ********UPDATE to response below: The lower oven door was not tested for function prior to the handyman leaving after he seated it the second time around (due to it never being attached initially with the screws provided with the oven.) I don't often use the lower oven so I didn't notice right away. And... my calls after that were unanswered. This situation is absolutely NOT due to wear over the years. It happened the FIRST time I opened the oven door. And yes, wouldn't it have been nice to communicate directly?

From the moment The Home Tradesman answered a/k/a John, it was an easy choice to make. Not only did he have the lowest estimate (which we all know is no guarantee of anything), John is polite, honest, forthright, accommodating and punctual. And that's before you get to know him! Well, both the customer service and the quality of the craftsmanship are both extraordinary- as it turned out the scope of our job was a little more complicated than expected and even a second day of labor was required there was no extra charge to us. And John was even apologetic that he took longer to complete the task, even though it was. No fault of his. There are dozen little things that we are looking to have done around the house and John will be the person we contract to do them.
