Life Time in Lawrenceville is very conveniently located, just a short distance from both my church…read moreand home. I enjoy coming here regularly for swimming and strength training. One thing I've noticed is that the facility is constantly undergoing renovations. Since the beginning of this year, they have renovated the swimming pool, jacuzzi, and men's locker room, and now the women's locker room is being updated as well. While it's good to see continuous improvements, the ongoing construction can sometimes feel inconvenient and is a reminder that the facility is aging. My experiences with the staff have been mixed. Some employees are friendly and helpful, while others come across as less welcoming. One incident in particular left a disappointing impression. I accidentally left my phone at the Life Cafe table and realized it after I had already left the gym. When I returned, a young staff member asked to see my membership card. I explained that my membership information was on the phone I had left inside, but despite the obvious situation, he refused to let me enter without an ID. Even after explaining multiple times that I was simply trying to retrieve my phone, he continued insisting on identification. It felt like common sense and flexibility were missing in that moment. Another concern is the membership cost. I currently pay more than $180 per month, which is quite expensive. At that price point, I believe members naturally expect not only quality facilities but also consistently professional and understanding customer service. Despite these frustrations, I still appreciate the convenience of the location and the overall amenities the gym provides.

This review is specifically about how the basketball courts are being handled during the summer…read morecamp schedule. I pay over $300 a month for a membership, and one of the main reasons I chose this gym was access to the basketball courts. Unfortunately, the courts are unavailable Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM throughout the summer due to camp activities, yet members are still paying full membership rates with no discount or accommodation offered. For members who use the courts regularly, this removes a major part of what we're paying for. It feels unfair to eliminate access to a key amenity for an extended period while continuing to charge full price. I understand businesses want to run summer programs, but this situation seems focused on generating additional revenue at the expense of paying members. I raised these concerns with management and was told, "Sorry, nothing we can do." That response was disappointing and felt dismissive. For a gym at this price point, I expected better communication, better planning, or some effort to make things right for affected members. This was handled poorly.

To start my background is in health and wellness and managing gyms. So I observe a lot more than your average consumer. I came here on a free paper pass the other day and walked right. I scanned it and walked right in. No one said anything and the person at the front desk was not paying attention, maybe they were in a group video conference? if they were, they should have been sitting in the other desks and someone else should have been managing the front. I walk in and do my routine. This gym appears on the outside to be about the same as your typical LA Fitness, but the inside is smaller. There is no upstairs and their machines are scattered throughout the floor. I noticed that some of the life fitness cable assembles are starting to fail... these need to be replaced immediately... this is what leads to injury... They have two magnetic rowing machines here and both of them are broken. I noticed in the personal training section they have another two. Do they work? Surprised, but not really... is sanitizing. Why do they not have sanitizing stations throughout the gym? get some spray bottles and towels so that people can wipe down the equipment when they are done using it. I checked out the pool. It did appear clean and two members were using it. The hot tub was filthy and green. Why don't they empty the water, use a pressure washer and refill it? this is unacceptable. The following day I came in with my spouse and she scanned her keycard, and I scanned my free paper pass, and walk-in... and as I got near the locker room the GM came storming at us saying we were not members, didn't scan in, and are using a free pass.. Which one is it? Mind you my wife is a paying member and yes, I am using a free paper pass as previously mentioned. The GM mentioned because I am on a free paper pass that I have to sign a waiver. That is correct, so I signed it... but the previous day I did not. Here is the problem. This place is not properly managed and because the front staff are not managing the front, almost anyone can just walk in and exercise and could get injured. This is a liability and I know something corporate could/would/ possibly terminate someone over. Why is this happening? The problem you have is you have a fitness club being managed by someone without a degree in managing fitness clubs, or any exercise science degree, or any degree at all. The General Manager of Duluth is Carlos, he told me he would call and follow up with me, but never did. I'll never understand why LA Fitness has people operating their facilities who lack communication and who could care less about reaching out to potential new members. In summary, choose another club. Fitness facilities are only as good as those who manage them. [Review #707] (5th Review of 2024)

The owner, Dan Owens, instructs these classes often and will absolutely crush your upper and lower body in the best possible way. He is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to making sure every person in the room knows what to do and helps with form if necessary and welcomed. Another great perk is access to the locker rooms and saunas. I feel the entire facility is kept clean and organized. I love the big windows everywhere which allow for a ton of natural light to come inside. I also enjoy using the indoor/outdoor green space on the bottom floor which has a garage door that can open and close depending on the weather. Very nice during Spring, Summer and early Fall. I never feel like I have to wait for equipment to free up, and they do offer complimentary towels at the front desk upon check-in. This athletic club is on ClassPass and I typically just purchase gym time using a couple credits or I sign up for the circuit or conditioning classes.

I have yet to visit a spa, but that is on my list for the future! This Peachtree Corners location is no exception. My son and I traveled to ATL for the PPA pickleball championships this past weekend and we pretty much spent every waking hour at this facility from Thursday when we arrived until late Sunday night when the tournament was over. We spent the majority of our time either playing pickleball or watching pickleball (both on the indoor and outdoor courts due to some rain), but the facility did a great job (along with the PPA) in navigating the large crowds and keeping the tournament going. We enjoyed some food from the cafe, the locker rooms, and of course the courts and the rest of the grounds as well. We were lucky to be traveling with a friend who purchased VIP Parking, so that was a nice touch... and medaling in some of our events helped make the experience even more fun too! Shoutout to Suzanne on the Life Time pickleball staff! If I lived in the area, I would definitely be spending time here more often - likely taking advantage of open play... We hope to be back next year!

The equipment and community they provide is like none other in Atlanta, and if you have $70-80 a month to invest in yourself, and your lifting community, then this is the place for it. Unfortunately, they areeee a bit strict about cancellations. I won't dock that from them in stars, because it has absolutely nothing to do with what it is here for. Just know, I got diagnosed with an internal organ disease recently, and they didn't budge on the cancellation. So if any health/life or death scenarios come up where you can't lift for a good amount of time due to swollen, ruptured, or diseased parts come up, you're still liable for your end of the deal. Which is fair! It's all in their contract. I just would expect some humanity a little, but a small business honestly can't equate that into their bottom line. I get it. All in all, it's an honest, WAY above average, community powerlifting gym that expects more than you expect out of yourself. THAT is the way you manage a gym, and that is what I love about it. Thank you for your time again Donnie and Lana. Y'all are above average gym owners, and you always, from what I've seen, put your actions where your mouth is. All luck going forward!
