I stopped in on my way home from a friend's house and picked up two pints of strawberries (3.99 each) and a Key Lime Pie (19.00). The staff was not very friendly, I did not feel welcome. I actually felt like I was an "outsider" and I shouldn't be there. When I got home I washed the strawberries immediately and my kids devoured them. They were great strawberries. We had the Key Lime Pie for dessert tonight and I will be honest, it was kind of bland. The pie filling was good about a 3/5 but the crust was terrible. It tasted like flour and cracker crumbs. Old Florida at its best! In business for many years this quaint roadside store sells an assortment of oranges and other citrus fruit and juices. You can also get a wide assortment or James, jellies, butters and candies all with a Florida flair. Surprisingly they even sell their own beef fro the Ferris Farm. We had two really disappointing experiences here recently. The staff does not greet you; they barely look up. Both times we had to ask for someone to check us out, take our order, explain how to purchase. The staff is clearly not happy working here and one has to wonder if there isn't some sort of toxic work environment. Really, it was a struggle to have them sell you something! The fresh fruit we purchased from the bins was anything but fresh and the supplies were limited. Inside, similarly, products were limited. We had to ask if they had any orange marmalade (no) and when we asked what was in"hurricane" marmalade, the staff person said she didn't know and directed us to read the label. Love the place, but staff and product left much to be desired. Ordered some fruit shipped as a gift..hopefully that will work out. read more

Not only do they have the sweetest, juiciest Honeybell Oranges, but their Strawberry and Orange milkshakes are superb! We shipped boxes of Honeybells back to family and even bought a flatiron steak here. They juice their oranges, so the juice you buy is truly fresh and they raise their own pigs and cattle. This was such a wonderful find that we will go back many times before we leave in the spring. The staff is SO friendly and helpful as well. read more

A bit disappointing! Traveled over 40 minutes here to get a milkshake that we were told was excellent to learn they were cleaning the machine when we arrived. It was the middle of the day!! Most establishments clean their machinery at the end of the day when the customers are done for the day and before the next day's customers come in, don't they? So... We asked for some strawberry shortcake, to which we were told they were out. In the end they were not. They ended up serving out party of eight - two strawberry shortcake orders which were good enough. There is a swing and walking path nearby that we took advantage of during our visit. Rating would likely be higher if they actually offered the items on the menu board and if they kept things in stock to serve their customers. Bummer. read more

I remember as a kid there were still a lot of these style stores aimed at tourists still on highway 301, and other roads that still had not succumbed to the effects of the diverted traffic due to the Interstates being built. Now most of them are decaying buildings on the side of the road. I value these little shops now as they are a sign of Old Florida where the natural resources were the star of the state instead of Orlando. I was on one of my daily road trips visiting sites in the area associated with the Civil War. I stopped inside and they still had the usual jams, jellies, and associated Florida Citrus produces. I really enjoyed my stop having a few tasty samples and I picked up some postcards as well. I highly recommend it as there are things you will not find in a Walmart here. A word of caution. The orange chapstick that is being sold there is more of a lip gloss I believe, I needed some chapstick and put some on my slightly chapped lips and true to the packaging it is made with Oranges, which DO NOT pair well with chapped lips. Next time I will get a shake. read more

This was supposed to be a place to stretch our legs as we were coming back to Tampa from Inverness. It looked like a touristy Florida grove type store. When you walk towards the back entrance the first thing you see are several types citrus fruits on display by the entrance. I have to say as a Floridian I am not up on my citrus knowledge. I know the ones I see in the grocery store and I got to see some new to me varieties. Apparently the place is known for strawberry pie and they are actually made to order. There were 2 ladies making pies and milkshakes to order. There are several varieties of local honey, assorted salsas and jams. Plus there's case with several packs of various cuts of beef steaks, ground beef, etc. We settled on milkshakes and a quarter pound of pistachio fudge. The fudge was amazing and only $3. I will go there again when/if I'm in Floral City again. read more

Fresh squeezed Florida orange juice. Amish cheese. Tangelos, clementines, grapefruit too. Nothing beats the strawberry season, the shortcakes are to die for. They host a festival every year on the grounds of Floral City Park and I used to help with cutting strawberries for the event. Not just conjoined twin strawberries, but triplets and quadruplets. They have a very friendly staff and delicious fresh fruit. They have lots of samples of all the varieties of oranges that they have in stock as well as jams. The store is filled with tons of yummy goodies made from the crops they grow such as jams, preserves, dressings, marinades, pickled veggies, butter, cheeses, meat products, nuts, candies etc. Very impressive! I had three orders sent to my family in Pa.,Ct and Maine. Two of the orders had very moldy fruit. the third had damaged fruit. To be fair, I have done business with Ferris in the past and was completely satisfied. This year however was a grave disappointment.
