The seats are so uncomfortable, it takes away from it being an enjoyable experience. My boyfriend is 6'3 and his poor knees were smushed into the chair in front. On top of that, if someone is sitting in that chair in front of you, they are constantly moving and adjusting due to the seat being uncomfortable and pushing your knees even farther back. I would much rather go to Apollo Cinema, where the theatre is much cleaner, nicer, and spacious.

As opposed to sitting in an auditorium or massive hall, I sat no more than 2 rows away from a pianist and cellist, performing in a small and intimate room. I felt them breathe and live every emotion through their performance - an experience you wouldn't witness at an orchestra or symphony. I travel from Mississauga to Waterloo, just to see the live performances at this venue. It's definitely KW's best kept secret.

No reserved seats. Snack line is always long, but most of the staff are quick. Just your standard options available - popcorn, candy, pop, nachos - no hotdogs, burgers etc like the bigger brands. I do enjoy the self-serve ticket kiosk. I have to wonder how long it's been there since very very few people seem to notice it, so everyone stands in a 20 person line waiting to pay the teller.

The sign alone was an indicator of a massive change and then we came to learn that a few years back they built a whole new dedicated theatre. And it is pretty! A stunning architectural marvel, bright and airy, vaulted ceilings, stone walls makes this theatre both modern and poetic. A large concession stand selling all sorts of treats and drinks with cheerful and happy people working there was a nice addition. Plenty of trashcans and well placed restrooms made the trivial easy to manage. We had great seats with a commanding view of the stage but I suspect there isn't a bad seat! The setup is the same as before with a center stage and people seated 3/4 around it. There were no challenges hearing the actors or seeing them. It truly is a beautiful theatre!

It does not connect directly to a mall entrance. You need to leave the theatre and go into the mall instead. It's a decent theatre. There aren't a ton of auditoriums, but it works for me. It's cozy. There is a ton of leg room and it's roomy. The only annoyance was with two women who came late into the show and decided to hold a conversation throughout the movie. Ugh! The movie was great. The screen was pristine and the sound was perfect. I didn't hit the concession stand. I had just had lunch, so I was good. (360)

I want to believe that this is the best movie theatre around, but really, I'm not feeling it. Galaxy Cinemas at Conestoga Mall was the first big box multiplex to come to the City of Waterloo. I remember when it was first built I was so excited. I remember lining up for blockbuster movies in the cold. And I remember that despite the inconvenience it was fun to hang out with the others in line. The thing is, time after time when I came here I would be disappointed. Prices are high and there are better amenities elsewhere. However, I am not really interested in making a big trip to go see a movie, so I keep coming back... I want to believe that this theatre can do better, and I hope I am right... I guess only time will tell!
