Wedged on this block on Halstead Ave in Harrison is this unassuming meat shop with equally humble & friendly owners. When you walk in, you're warmly greeted by the guys, Rich & Doug, ready to help you satisfy all your carnivorous cravings. Walk to the back to see all the goodies in the deli case. You can't go wrong ordering any of the sandwiches. Everything is homemade with tender loving care. Go for the slow cooked pork shoulder, garlic roast pork or the brown sugar cured thick slab BLT with your choice of a roll or sesame hero bread. When my buddy unwrapped his espresso rubbed brisket sandwich back in the office, every head popped up in their cubicles like a wave when the aroma wafted across the room. It was that good. And the brown sugar bacon on the BLT is literally meat candy on a bun with its sugary, salty, greasiness. I would die with a smile and this sandwich in my hand. Another cool thing about Fiamma? If it says $8 for the sandwich on the board, that's exactly what you pay. No more multiplying by the square root of the mean diameter of the moon or fumbling with pennies. It's just too bad that they don't have any seating there because it would be awesome to chomp down on a freshly made sandwich fresh toasted out of the oven with cheese oozing and dripping. Fiamma Pork Store is legit. Having recently left Brooklyn, I've been missing its many authentic food purveyors and shops. Luckily, we have Fiamma nearby. Today's order was only two sandwiches and some of their vodka sauce (separate), but each was fantastic. Both the pork shoulder sandwich and meatball sub were simple, yet exquisite. I think that is what makes these sandwiches excellent. they don't try to do too much. they just use superior ingredients and do them perfectly. I finally made it on time today and bought some delicious fresh mozzarella, Pecorino, Sweet Sausage and Ravioli, all of which were made fresh there. This was becoming my favorite Pork store/deli in the White Plains-Harrison area but they just recently stopped making sandwiches. I'm heartbroken because they were the best hidden gem in Westchester. They served their sandwiches on butcher paper. They had the best sandwich rolls/wedges - soft on the inside but chewy on the outside. Hands down, the best cuts of meat you can find and reasonably priced. From the steaks to the sausage (made fresh), you can't go wrong with anything here. Doug and Joey are more than accommodating to customers needs and provide top notch service with a smile. The sandwiches are great too and if you need a dinner on short notice, there are many options such as the famous Family Platter that feed 4-6 but can probably accommodate more. Dropped by for the first time today to pick up a couple steaks for the BBQ, they cut a few T-bones (dry aged) for me to order and trimmed it to my specifications. Very reasonable price for the steak, no more than you would pay at a grocery store; however, the quality of the meat was out of this world. It was one of the best steaks I have ever had!
