Fickle Pickles which has been around since 1980 is one of my favorite things about New Braunfels. In fact, prior to relocating from the east coast, I'd shop there twice a year. Now I'd say it's once a month or every other depending on when our pickle supply runs low. My boyfriend's family is in the area and this is always part of our shopping in downtown NB. Honestly, I can't believe I've never reviewed it before. I'm almost positive I have. But, I digress. I have two sisters who visit and one more than the other. She loves Fickle Pickles more than I do. Most especially the brine (the PERFECT chicken marinade). Had to do some replenishing today (5/9/26) and that's gonna make my sister full of FOMO. I'm pretty sure the amazing woman working today remembers the antics between me and my sister during our visits. Lol. She was gracious enough to snap a pic of me with a jar of brine...you know, to make my sister really jealous. Haha. Fear not, her birthday is in July and I'll be having FP ship her a goody box. The pickles are absolutely hands down the best I've ever had. Sweet and crunchy. My boyfriend lives and breathes for that spice! I love that they come in three sizes. This extremely popular small business has a few locations and the flavor and taste never waiver. This shop also carries household items like cutting boards, towels, decorative items (new and vintage), chachkies, etc. Can't beat free samples either. Perfect Pickle Popping goodness!! How could you resist walking into a stored name Fickle Pickle? I could not. Love the name...Fickle Pickles as the name implies is focused on pickles and not a ton of varieties (original and spicey). According to the store manager, the pickles are produced in Boerne, TX and delivered to New Braunfels, TX. Thus, pickles are their primary thang! Yesterday, I was happy to learn that this shop specialized in their signature sweet, crunchy, spicy pickles. This family-owned business apparently has a Texas pickles recipe that dates back decades. The shop itself is charming and filled with items with the cutest sayings. I openly laughed out loud when I read several of the inscriptions. Shelves are lined with pickle jars in different sizes. The store manager was the quintessential warm, knowledgeable, and Texas friendly person with a genteel manner. She offered samples, which put me in the yes category to buy pickles. The pickles for the small jar were $7.95 and $13.95 for the larger jar...more than you would pay at a grocery store for pickles. I purchased to small jar. Let's talk about them their pickles...the pickles strike a unique balance...starting slightly sweet, followed by a vinegary taste, and finishing with a gentle heat. According to the manager, that's why they are called fickle pickles because they do not know exactly what they want to be. You can choose between the original and a spicier version. Well I wasn't planning on coming in here to buy anything. However the older woman was very kind and sold me on buying these pickles. We bought a couple jars two days ago and one jar is already gone. It goes well with everything or even by itself. While they are spendy the price is worth it! read more

Best pickles ever!! I live a few hours away but will stop anytime I'm in the area and get a few jars. They're somehow all of the pickle flavors at once (garlic, dill, sweet & a little spicy.) There are samples available if you're unsure. But grabbed the spicy ones for the first time this trip. Stay tuned! There are also trinkets and gifts- both pickle themed and just southern/texas/etc... I've only been to the New Braunfels location but there are several others in the area. read more

Located smack next to Naegelin's Bakery, you can't miss it. Immediately upon entering, we received a friendly greeting and were offered samples of their original flavor of famous pickles. They were pretty good and had a nice little kick in the end. Sooo good that we got ended up buying a jar of their original and spicy to take home! The shop also sells the most adorable home decor - pickle and non pickle related. NEW BRAUNFELS, TX: Fickle Pickles has a store downtown known for their sweet & spicy pickles and they also offer an extra spicy option. Being from the NJ/NY area, we found them too sweet, but they are very popular with Texan locals! The store is in a historic building and is cute on the inside. You can also find a gift shop sharing the space. Leashed and friendly dogs are allowed inside and due to the sensitive nature of the glass pickle jars, use caution while shopping. read more

I think the flavor is just ok but the texture was off. For every 3 pickles that were crunchy and crisp i got a weird mushy one. I've seen it advertised as "crisp and crunchy" but the cucumbers are cut so thin when I bit into one it just disintegrated. I've had sweet pickles from HEB that are better tasting and retain its structural integrity better. They are also charging nearly $20 per 32 ounce jar and for the smaller jar is a mere $13. The worst part is they are NOT tightly packed at all. The jars look full on the shelf but I removed only 10 pickle chips out of the 26 ounce jar and I can now see it is mostly just juice. They skimped out on the pickles. I'm so confused bc Cucumbers are cheap. I am not convinced this isn't a scam. While they are certainly allowed to charge what they wish for the product it is not worth the money. It's like paying $20 for freshly baked bread and someone hands you a bag of Wonderbread... with slices missing While it's edible.. it is not worth the price. read more

OMG Fickle Pickles is my new fave when it come to pickles, first they are sweet and then you get a slight spicy hint but it's amazing. I am not a spicy lover but I'm so in love with these pickles, but don't take my word for it try them out yourself. The service here is great the lady that worked today was so amazing, she was friendly and gave me info on how I can order some pickles m, and have them ship to me. It not just pickles they sale but Merchandising as well, I didn't spend much time looking at the items but only because I was so fascinated by the pickles.
