    Brownie and Peanut Butter Cookie
    Heather M.

A recent addition to Luling's charming collection of mom and pop eateries, Swoonworthy offers a delicious myriad of baked goods. The friendly folks at this quaint bakery walked us through our options - mindful of my cinnamon allergy - and directed us to one of the most delectable brownies I've had. Not to be outdone, the peanut butter cookie was rich, salty-peanuty goodness. Highly recommend... cheers!

What a precious, delicious bread (and dessert) bakery! I was headed to the BBQ place next door and poked my head in. Such a cute place and their bread is DELICIOUS. I took home the lemon/blueberry sourdough. It is so tasty. We've enjoyed it with chicken salad. We've also had it with fried eggs. Just a hint of lemon. It's delicious bread. Too bad we live far away, or we'd be regulars.

Half of the Honey Wheat Sour Dough bread loaf.

Went to the store this past Saturday and picked up some Honey Wheat Sourdough bread and it was fantastic! Beautiful sourdough profile with lovely honey wheat flavor! NOT bland in the least. I highly recommend as you can tell as there is only 1/2 loaf left! Also purchased a loaf of their regular sour dough for a friend of mine and I sure hope I get to try it. Already tried (and loved) the rosemary sour dough loaf as it is sure yummy! The brown buttered snickerdoodle cookie was to die for! So delicious! Friend purchased the apple pie. My last friend I brought there loved the apple pie Especially with some vanilla ice cream! So, I will keep road tripping up here introducing people to this wonderful shop to support a local business!

    Delicious cinnamon rolls and scones!

This little bakery has a HUGE heart for their customers. She went out of her way to recreate a long ago local favorite pecan filled cinnamon rolls. She specifically contacted me to try them first. They were amazing!!! The italian cheese bread is highly requested by my teenage son and husband. The cookies are totally worth the calories . Kelli will even hold bread for you if you are looking for a specific variety and can not make it to the shop early in the day. She even extended her hours to make customers happy. I give it 10 stars!!!

    Bland flavorless bread

Bought a loaf of honey wheat sourdough today. Got it home and processed to try a slice or two. Smelled good but no discernable sourdough smell or taste. Actually the taste very bland and off like it was missing salt in the recipe. Very disappointing, I would have returned for a refund but I'm 40 miles away. Would not recommend

Texas is known as having the best barbecue in the country! We all hear about the big names that…read morestretch from Austin to Dallas to Houston. I've been to probably all of them. Well, there's another one called "City Market" that skipped right past me. Or, no one thought to tell me. It's one or the other because this place is pretty popular with lines out the door! So I heard about City Market BBQ, the same day I drove to Luling, Texas! It's an hour outside of Austin. City Market is in the downtown area, and parking was a breeze; the line I saw on the sidewalk coming from City Market, I must admit, was long, but it was a breeze, too. Now, this is on Wednesday, not the weekend. I hopped in line, the line moving fast. People are friendly, telling me that once I'm inside, there's another door I will go into to place my order. I like to call this the secret door with all the good smells of smoky barbecue. Check out my pictures of the secret door; you can't even see inside. I'm there, I made it inside, and there's 3 of the most friendly older gentlemen I will ever meet in my life. One of them caught on that I haven't been in a kitchen, never in my life, when he started asking if I wanted 1/4 of brisket. I whispered, "Give me three or four, because I'm not good at math either." Oh, we had a great laugh! I sat down, picked on a rib, and the meat slid from the bone! It was so tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The skin had the right burnt in the right spots. The meat was moist and easy to chew. I was like the Flintstones cleaning the bones before I bit into my sausage and brisket. The sausage was very good, and my brisket was smoky, like my ribs. I have to brag about the sauce. It came in a skinny bottle. It was a new flavor for me; it wasn't spicy, but it had a nice heat to it that I loved! I'm so happy I chose to ride down to Luling to visit City Market as soon as I heard about this BBQ place. I would have been so mad at myself if I had waited and forgotten!

City Market in Luling was established in either 1957 or 1958, depending on the source. The…read morerestaurant's own website says "Established in 1958," and most historical references use 1958. So as of 2026, the barbecue place is about 68 years old. It's considered one of the classic old-school Central Texas barbecue joints and still operates much like a traditional meat-market-style BBQ house. This is an older building, including bathrooms... One of which was not working. Was disappointed that their sides include potato salad, and beans only because when I go to barbecue, I love Colliard greens, potato salad, beet salad, etc. not available here. The brisket slice I had likely the best piece of brisket I've ever had in my life. Now... Don't go crazy. I don't eat brisket typically when I do barbecue. The rib that I had was decent. The sausage I had by comparison to other barbecue places was unfortunately the worst that I've ever had. I'm not sure what grind they use, but it seems like it was more beef and somewhat sweet to my pallet which I personally don't care for in sausage. Overall, if I just wanted brisket, I would return but next time I'm in Luling I likely will go to the place right next-door to them and try them.

This time instead of exploring their packaged snack products I thought about how much room we have left in our car and flying it home so I decided against it. I did buy 3 of their small cup size Blue Bell dark chocolate ice cream- for all of us but the cashier gave only one spoon. It tasted so good I had hubs go get me a large size one since I didn't eat a normal lunch and it was past 5 pm. While I waited in the car with the grandpup. I wanted to find some Bucee items for Doc since she's been our road trip driver plus made all the arrangements for hotels, tickets to parks, dinner show, etc. We all got different things: hubs got small bags of jerky, Doc got her favorite brisket sandwich to share with her Frenchie, a sausage on a stick and 3 peach cobblers for each of us to try. I like the large amount of clean restroom stalls plus soap. The cone of warmed sugary pecans and cinnamon bites were a sweet snack- finally gone from the first Buc-ee's a week ago. Before leaving Doc had us take a selfie and a nice gentleman also took a couple for us too.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but... my last visit here was less than satisfactory. We grabbed lunch on our way to Houston. Our lunch consisted of brisket sandwich, chicken tenders & fries, and the three meat sandwich. I'm pretty sure their meat is not a true cut of brisket. Its consistency is like mush, and not like muscle fibers. There was nothing lean brisket vs fatty brisket. The brisket had holes throughout, making it look even more like an ultra processed deli meat or even lab grown. I was disgusted, to say the least. They also have ZERO options for people conscious of the ingredient lists. We bought popcorn and the bag was open at the bottom. I opted the top and it was super stale. I realized it was open on the bottom and the store game me a hard time about exchanging it. It's pretty clear the sealing process failed for this bag. We won't be shopping here anymore, nor will we eat their food. But if you're visiting Texas and come across one, it's a fun stop to pass time.

I needed a cold treat to cool me off after my hike. I did a quick Yelp and Google search to confirm I wasn't embarking on a nasty establishment. Both sites checked out with their high star ratings. Only 10 minutes from the state park, I was en route. Upon arriving, there was a long line for the drive-thru. It was already a scorcher outside, I just wasn't looking to be too much more in the heat bath; so I decided to wait in my vehicle in line to order. After 20 minutes of waiting, it was finally my turn. I ordered #54 (the most vegan snow cone with fruit and no cream/caramel); and a mangonada sorbet. After a few minutes, the sweets were out. Heaven on muthafu~~~ earth this place is delicious!! It hit the spot so hard that it placed me into a sweet tooth coma that I wanted to immediately sleep and not drive back to Houston. The amount of syrup saturates the ice. No dry spots. The mango sorbet has bits of mango with its sweetness. Each time I pass through Luling whether that's coming or going; I make sure to stop here! Ive ordered the coconut sorbet without cream or caramel, but with nuts and it's so divine. I tried the mangonada, the best I've ever had. I've brought Sneakers and they gave him a free small cup of ice with cream. He gobbled that right up! I've even brought my parents and they loved it! Daya's is locally owned and family operated; you can't go wrong! Every person who works here has been very kind and always get my orders right. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quantity you get. I will always give them business to keep them open. Give them a try today!!
