Busy & popular with snowbird crowd. Prices are on par with other communities in area that offer similar amenities and activities. Campsites come with w/s/e (30/50 amp) and picnic table. Cable TV is offered for $. Bring your own raised fire pit and wood if you like campfires. Site are spacious (40 x 65) some areas are full sun, others are shaded. You're parking on grass / packed sand. Some campsites have concrete patios (remnants of older park trailer that has since been removed. Warning about concrete: it's not reinforced so don't park your rig on it. Also, concrete is at various heights on sites and some may find issues with their Rv stairs. Two heated swimming pools (indoor 18+ open 24/7, outdoor is daylight hrs) cafe for breakfast and/or lunch weekdays. People here are friendly and most will stop and talk with newcomers and offer help when needed. Complex has lots of function rooms and during winter season have a gazillion activities for adults to participate in. The community is a 55+ property, under 18 year olds are allowing a two week stay a year. About 2/3 of sites are permanent onsite with the other 1/3 open for Rv campers. And about 1/3 of sites are year round residents. We came for 1 month winter camping several years ago. Kept extending our stay and ended up buying a park model a few years later. We own unit but pay monthly lot rent and electricity. Property is on a canal which leads to Lake Harris.

Dora Canal.is bordered by natural woodlands owned by the county that has been preserved for generations in virtually its original appearance. It's also a gator preserve.so no swimming or dangling toes in it. It makes for perfect retirement living but can become buggy, hot and humid. Just seeing all the alligators, turtles, great blue heron and the many other birds and species is a real nature lovers delight.

We were not expecting to love it THIS much. In order to get to the lodge, you must have a durable vehicle, preferably one with 4WD as the minute you are on the road, you are "off roading" for a .5 miles. You are greeted by a sweet lady, Doris, who is the only other lodge on the street (that you can't see because it's tucked in the woods). The lodge (1 bed, 1 bath) is equipped with everything you need: a grill, kitchen appliances & utensils, wood fireplace, fire pit, picnic table, kayaks, a canoe, etc. We picked up some groceries and brought them to the lodge so we could cook, however, there are some restaurants located down the street (a few miles down) where you can dine. The best part about this lodge is the dock accessibility and the kayaks and canoe. It was awesome that we could just pickup the canoe and head out in the water. We loved being able to spend the day on the water and truly no one else was out there. There are quite a few springs nearby: Juniper, Alexander, Silver Glen, etc. all very easily accessible by car. There were also some great off roading trails nearby which were so fun! If you have an ATV, bring it! If you have an off roading truck/SUV, bring it! We even saw a cute little bear cub off roading! This was truly an epic getaway and we cannot wait to make this our annual tradition.

It is a combination small zoo, 4H exhibit at a fair, and charmingly ramshackle. Harley the bird startled me by saying " hello" out of the blue, he has a great voice. It is worth it to buy some feed bags when you buy your tickets, as many residents are most enthusiastic about receiving some of that cracked corn. A few enterprising birds seem to have snuck out of their cages so as to indulge in corn that bounces off the cage. Pretty calico cat hanging out at the entrance. Staff all very nice.

Before I forget to mention, first and foremost, the place is SPOTLESS. I was amazed...refreshing, huh? Heather, the camp manager is easy to find, she's the blushing new bride who is always wearing a big smile on her face and just as accommodating and friendly as can be. It was definitely worth it! The house was fully equipped! I'll go ahead and begin my review Bedrooms (3) : Spacious and Clean comfortable enough to fit up to 6-8 people in the bedrooms depending on whether or not you mind sharing beds with people. But none the less the beds were cozy and big! Kitchen & Living room were conveniently attached fully equipped with stove, oven microwave and with a dining table fitting up to 6-7 people comfortably. It was attached to the living room which had a fire place and a variety of entertainment medias for your use. It was soo cute! Although it wasn't cold enough to use the fire place, it made me feel like I was in north carolina or in the woods somewhere. Made my trip seem more authentic and far away! Upstairs: Best part was the game room upstairs! Fully equipped with a pool table and the other table game thing, i can't remember what it was called lol. The only bad part is that there's no room to sleep upstairs, it's more of a game area. But i still loved it. Kept us thoroughly entertained most of the evening! Okay I lied, the best part of the house was definitely the patio that led out to the lake! GORGEOUS for watcing the sun rise and the sun set! There was a dock that led up to the lake which you can involve yourself in doing a variety of sports such as swimming, jet skiing and boat rowing! Although we didn't have time to do any of that stuff it was still nice to have it there available! I must say, it was out in the middle of no where, but that's the beauty of it, away from the cars, away from the noise, away from the city. It was serene and peaceful. This lake house is something you must look into if you're thinking about getting away. Look into it some more, don't just take my word for it! But definitely, we're coming back here again soon for future gatherings and get-aways.
