They resemble the Tiny House trend you read so much about in Miami; they are tiny and they are houses, and they are super-cute. I really enjoyed staying in mine. If you are thinking about RV parks as disorganized, dirty and depressing places, Lake in the Forest will surprise you. It is immaculate, everything is well maintained and it feels consistently like a good part of town. There are a lot of nice places around the park where you can contemplate and enjoy nature. The place was almost empty when I visited so there was unlimited peace and quiet to enjoy. I would actually say it was a bit too peaceful and quiet. I didn't realize until almost time to leave that there was an active social center in the middle of the place that might have been interesting. Perhaps it was having just come from Disney, where it is impossible to get lost for more than five minutes without being legally blind, but it would have been nice to see a few signs pointing me towards favorite places within the property. There was a notebook in the house with lists of addresses of things to do, but it would have been nice overall to have more detailed descriptions of possible activities. As it turns out, the right thing to do is to ask the staff, who had an encyclopediac store of information when asked and could not have been more cordial. Some of the RVs are decorated with lights and effects in ways reminding me of Burning Man or Love Burn if it had been done on a really strict budget. The clientele are entirely pickup and RV folks. Hardly anyone had cars. I had my new-to-me pre-owned Mercedes and felt a touch out of place, the city slicker in the country, almost like I was invading a world I didn't quite understand. That was silly of me and amused me more than anything, but this is definitely not Miami. The few people I met were very nice, and the owner was exceptionally helpful, pointing out sights I would enjoy and showing me her own personal 80 acres of nature. I knock off a star for two things :The gate procedure and the checkout procedure. The office shuts down at 4:00pm and they close the gate allowing entry into the park. After that to enter or exit you need to get out of your car, release it, return to your car, drive through it and then close it again. So it feels like you are trapped in or shut out. The owner tells me that the gate serves its purpose of preventing pesky neighborhood kids and the like from coming in and annoying everyone, but there's no question it made me feel a bit alienated from the place. They intend to replace it with an electric gate eventually and that should solve the problem. Checkout requires that customers clean out the room, bring the sheets to the main cabin, take out the trash, wash dishes, empty and wipe out refrigerator, sweep the place clean and so on. This is a lot of physical labor for someone for whom that is, well, not his strong suit. They charge you a $60 fee if you don't comply. With my complete lack of domestic engineering talent this is not very hospitable. I wouldn't mind paying $30 but $60 just seems excessive. WiFi, while available, did not work well during my visit. I have Verizon's Unlimited cellphone plan and that worked fine for my stay. I simply tethered my computer and iPad with the phone and had fine functional access, despite the remote location. If you want to use the WiFi, they have several different networks with different passwords for each one. So you might want to program each one individually into your devices. A pain, but having all of them accessible would probably make it easier to find a functioning network. At $350 per week, I felt the value for money was outstanding. The place is pleasant, relaxing and very well kept up.

They have a large property that we toured around with Oem, the lady that lives on the property. She showed us al the animals including Sammie the llama. They don't have a pool but it's only like 25 min to the beach! It's by a highway so kind of noisy but that doesn't bother us. The only complaint I have which is not in anyone's control is the ants were terrible.. hills in grass all over got our hands bit up putting out and picking up all the hoses and sewer.. lol we actually bought some ant killer but they just moved homes! I would hope when camper leave maybe they could spray or lay pellets! Other than that we enjoyed staying and would definitely come back.

Unfortunately, with its location, it also sounds like it's inside the Speedway! You will need earplugs or a noise machine to sleep. There is constant road noise day and night. Unless your tv or air conditioner is running nonstop you will hear it. This RV park offers 102ish campsites. I shouldn't refer to them though as campsites but more like parking spaces with full hookups. That's really what they are. No outdoor fires or appliances here. That's what the brochure says but I see grills here and there....maybe they mean refrigerators? ‍idk Most of the staff here that we encountered were friendly. The nighttime security guy was especially courteous. They have a very nice laundry facility. There are 6 washers and 6 dryers and they were each a $1.50 a load. It was very clean and they even provided an iron, ironing board and hanger rack for your hang up clothes. There were books and magazines to read or you could watch tv. Best of all though was the washers and dryers had timers on them so you could just set your timer on your and go home and comeback when your wash was finished! They have public restrooms and showers here but I don't know why they bother. There are a LOT of nice rigs here and I'm sure no one is using the public rooms. I guess if yours isn't working though it's a plus. Pets-They have two small greenspaces for you to walk your dog. When I say small I mean tiny. They are pet friendly here but barely. The amenities as listed on the campsite flyer are as follows: *Clean bathroom and showers *Laundry *City Water *Propane *Rv Supplies *Paved roads *Walking distance to flea market *Spacious, shady, quiet lots (every word here is a lie. None of these statements are true at all) *All lots full hookups *RV Dump Station (why? See the above asterisked item? Side money from boondockers? Idk) I really don't have much to say about this place. It's a parking lot for RVs. I'm so glad we only stayed here for 2 nights. I got my laundry done. :)

Dora Canal.is bordered by natural woodlands owned by the county that has been preserved for generations in virtually its original appearance. It's also a gator preserve.so no swimming or dangling toes in it. It makes for perfect retirement living but can become buggy, hot and humid. Just seeing all the alligators, turtles, great blue heron and the many other birds and species is a real nature lovers delight.

The Grasshopper Lodge, a sweet little getaway located in a secluded area in Ocala National Forest…read more We stumbled upon this location on AirBnb and decided to book for a quick birthday getaway. We were not expecting to love it THIS much. In order to get to the lodge, you must have a durable vehicle, preferably one with 4WD as the minute you are on the road, you are "off roading" for a .5 miles. You are greeted by a sweet lady, Doris, who is the only other lodge on the street (that you can't see because it's tucked in the woods). The lodge (1 bed, 1 bath) is equipped with everything you need: a grill, kitchen appliances & utensils, wood fireplace, fire pit, picnic table, kayaks, a canoe, etc. We picked up some groceries and brought them to the lodge so we could cook, however, there are some restaurants located down the street (a few miles down) where you can dine. The best part about this lodge is the dock accessibility and the kayaks and canoe. It was awesome that we could just pickup the canoe and head out in the water. We loved being able to spend the day on the water and truly no one else was out there. There are quite a few springs nearby: Juniper, Alexander, Silver Glen, etc. all very easily accessible by car. There were also some great off roading trails nearby which were so fun! If you have an ATV, bring it! If you have an off roading truck/SUV, bring it! We even saw a cute little bear cub off roading! This was truly an epic getaway and we cannot wait to make this our annual tradition.

We make an effort to come here every year for the Burning Bike celebration and it never…read moredisappoints. If you're looking for a great outdoor party smack dab in the middle of Bike Week, this is it. The event has everything you're looking for, if this is your thing; bikers & biker babes, motorcycles, bikini contests, live music, motorcycle daredevil acts (Globe of Death), fire dancers, fire jugglers, high-wire acts, stilt walkers, wrestling, full liquor bars, ice cold beer and finally watching the burning bike burn. The party starts at 5pm and ends 12am the next morning. Tickets to get in are $10. There is plenty of parking available but know that Fast Lane Campground is just what it is, a campground, and their parking lot and event grounds is basically a big open grass lot, so if you are disabled or have a special need this might be difficult event to navigate on your own, be sure to bring a buddy. One of the most memorable parts of the event is viewing all of the messages written on the wooden sculpture before it is burned. Nancy and I write our own messages of love to the ones that we have lost and dearly miss. If you want to take advantage of this part of the event I recommend arriving before dark because staff fence off the sculpture 45-min to an hour before burning begins. If you are planning on spending most of the day at the event, I recommend bringing a collapsible chair and claiming a spot close to the fence posts surrounding the burning bike so you can get the best view. There are plenty of vendors on site selling food, snacks, dessert, non-alcoholic drinks, alcoholic drinks, cigars, other paraphernalia, merchandise, biker gear, custom knives and so much more, you basically have everything you need if you didn't bring it with you. This year, I have to say they burned the sculpture much faster than previous years. It was a shame that it burned so quick. I actually wish they would start burning earlier but let it burn longer like previous years because as soon as the bike burned, everyone started leaving. This time around, they started burning the bike at 9:50pm and the rider and most of the bike was completely burned by 10:15pm. I think they used too much fuel too quick. I guess if you just want to get it over with that's the way to do it but I think they could have easily spread the burning out over the course of an hour or more. All-in-all, this is an awesome event that is held annually during Bike Week. If you have never gone, I highly recommend marking your calendar now for next year. I don't know the exact day of Burning Bike but I know that Bike Week is scheduled for February 27th through March 8th, 2026. Hope to see you there!
