We came for a free fishing event one Saturday that we saw on Facebook. Volusia count and them paired up for a fishing tournament for kids under 11. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a bait shop and a little pond where we were able to fish for fun. Would definitely come back!

Fantastic place. It was a family fishing trip with people coming in from Florida, Illinois and Minnesota. Lodging was very clean and beds are comfortable. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The location was great as was the fishing. We're going back next year.

We found this wonderful spot on a Groupon . upon arrival the staff was great quick easy check in the little cabin was absolutely perfect it is fully stocked with all you would need for a few days stay . We were scheduled for a pontoon tour and of course it was the worst weather that day , they were so accommodating they changed our date and we were able to enjoy the day exploring Deland itself . Take some time enjoy a few days of relaxation and fishing you will not be disappointed.

This is the second time my husband and I visited the fish camp for a fishing trip. Seven years ago our fishing guide was Rick. And we had a blast!! Great stories and great catch!! Large mouth bass. Our second visit we had James as our guide and again we had a blast!! He said he would take us to where the fish are biting and he certainly did. We caught twelve large mouth bass. He taught us how to hook the fish so we wouldn't loose more than we caught. I think he was impressed with his teaching skills because we caught a lot of bass. We plan on returning in the spring. We highly recommended Highland Park Fish Camp.

If I could give extra stars I would. My father in-law and I went out on a guided fish trip today with James. It was a very cold day and the lake was pretty empty but we got out early and James had us on the fish within a handful of casts. We each caught over 10 nice sized specks and had a blast despite the weather. Can't wait to come back in nicer weather when the bass fishing heats up. Everyone was really pleasant and it reminded of the comraderie of the old tackle shops back home.

Great place to rent a pontoon for the day. This is always our first choice! The boats are clean and great performers!

I arrived here with pretty high expectations not all of them necessarily dependent on a high end resort experience but more towards a quiet relaxing setting with a beautiful view, a well maintained facility with full hookups that can accommodate my MotorCoach and great management. I stopped in at the camp store / office to meet the staff prior to just driving through I was a little surprised to see such a beautifully stocked camp store they have all the necessities and more. I was greeted by Steve and after learning a little about the ownership and a little bit of the history here I was offered a short tour to the lake view site I was interested in. This place is exactly what I was hoping it would be, small, quiet and well maintained, the road is rock based and well maintained as are the sites, the sites have great utilities, fire rings, the campground has a inviting swimming pool, a beautiful fishing pier, boat docks it's definitely a fisherman's paradise and being the lake is brackish they have blue crabs just waiting to be caught and incorporated into a delicious entrée, I have few in mind. Well after checking it out I couldn't resist making a reservation and booked an extended stay in April and was able to get the camp site right on the water, there no doubt I'll need to update this review once I stay here so there's more to come...

The porta potties are always relatively clean, and it is rare to find liter. The spring is not as deep, blue, or beautiful as other area springs, but you can't beat the free entry. It does offer a larger shallow area than most which is helpful on weekends, holidays, or summer days when it becomes overcrowded. The spring will "brown out" due to overflow of the Santa Fe river when it has rained a lot. It is still safe to swim in however it is not as attractive from the surface. The tanin does however create a neat effect when you free dive/look up. Rum Island Park is a great launch and pick up spot for those wanting to paddle the Santa Fe River. Many outfitters use it, as well as individuals. I personally frequently use it to launch with a paddle board. I like to paddle down to Blue Springs and back before work (in High Springs). Overall, Rum Island Park is a nice launch spot and free swimming hole.

It's $5 entry per vehicle and hours are 8am - 7pm daily. Rum Island is a tucked away natural springs pool that's catered towards younger crowds (imo) with mostly shallow waters. There's a row of buoys separating the springs from the Santa Fe River. Visits here can be real quick, under an hour unless you're launching kayaks or barbecuing with family for the day. The white sands of the springs are crystal-clear most times throughout the day and the waters showcase vibrant aquamarine colors when the sun breaks from the clouds. There's even a turquoise limestone cavity that pumps out the pool's 72-degree spring waters. There are some opportunistic moments for worthwhile picture takings and recordings, but...Rum Island is so small and shallow that it feels like standing in the center of the kiddie springs at a waterpark. As much as I enjoyed the views, I felt out of place. It wasn't my favorite Florida springs park to visit, but I still respect it for its scenic surroundings. Finally, there are plenty of kayakers and paddle boarders floating past the springs. Visitors can leave their belongings anywhere on the grass. Overall, I'm glad I got a glimpse into what Rum Island Springs Park is about, which has me motivated to visit the local gold standard benchmarks...Ichetucknee Springs, Ginnie Springs and Gilchrist Blue Springs.
