If you care about your dog's wellbeing and your own peace of mind, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. I brought my 9 lb dog in for a basic wash, dry, and trim on 3/25/26. When I picked him up, I was told he had been injured during grooming--the groomer cut his paw pad, causing significant bleeding. I was advised to take him to the vet if needed and was assured I would be reimbursed. The emergency vet visit cost $430. I was told a reimbursement check would be ready within one week. Instead, I received no updates and had to initiate every follow-up myself. I was given conflicting information multiple times about the status of the check (ready, needed a signature, needed to be drafted), which felt very disorganized and dishonest. Without my agreement, they eventually decided to mail the check instead of having it available for pickup as originally discussed. I did receive it, but it arrived 9 days later than promised. I was also asked to re-explain the situation because they had "two injuries in the last week," which is extremely concerning. Accidents can happen, but the lack of communication, accountability, and follow-through here was unacceptable. I will not be returning read more

We've been going to Fido and Stitch for at least a year. Our pup had one or two nice haircuts - he's a medium sized doodle. The last couple of haircuts, the groomer has not listened to requests re: fur on his face. It's been a slapdash job and yesterday, in spite of asking for the longest clipping so my dog could stay warm in January, he came home with short hair, and now he will freeze. And this is in spite of having no mats or need for short cut. Lastly, this place charges more per hour than my own stylist. Pretty outrageous. read more

I've been taking my dogs to Fido and Stitch on Monroe since we brought our first pup home in September 2022, and we've always appreciated the friendly staff and the way our dogs were treated. However, since the recent renovations and staff changes, the experience has noticeably declined -- something that became especially clear after our latest visit. We have two mini doodles, one larger than the other, so they're scheduled for different appointment types (medium and large). We dropped them off at 9:02 AM for their 9:00 AM appointments. Upon arrival, there was another doodle being checked in, and two employees were present. Even though the salon promotes a cage-free experience, our smaller dog -- who is excitable but not aggressive -- was immediately placed in a crate and separated from his brother. This upset him and caused unnecessary stress. I chose to overlook it, assuming it was a temporary measure and that the overall experience would still be positive. At 12:32 PM, we received a text that both dogs were ready. When we arrived for pickup, both dogs were locked in a cage together, visibly distressed and crying. There were no other customers or dogs in the salon at the time, and the employees weren't engaging with the dogs -- in fact, one groomer was on her phone and did not acknowledge us at all. The cashier quickly rang us up and handed us their leashes with minimal interaction. After leaving, I noticed we had been charged for two large dog grooms, even though only one of our dogs qualifies as large. I followed up and was told the extra charge was due to our smaller dog displaying "behavioral issues," which required additional grooming time. However, this visit took the same amount of time as all previous ones, and we've never had behavior concerns brought up in the past -- including during home grooming sessions, where he's admittedly vocal and playful, but far from difficult, aggressive, or hurtful. After contacting Fido and Stitch, I was refunded $25 for the unexpected charge. Still, I was informed that both dogs would be charged at the large dog rate going forward due to the younger dog's behavior. Unfortunately, we'll be finding a new groomer moving forward -- one that consistently provides the care and experience they advertise. read more

I've been a loyal customer at Fido & Stitch, but after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. We had an appointment scheduled for our dog a month after she had an MRIT surgery, and I was upfront when I mentioned the procedure as well as the fact that the surgeon and vet had seen her in person and confirmed she's able to be groomed. The staff on the phone said it was no issue--just to mention it again at drop-off, which I did. But once we arrived, it became obvious that they had no intention of grooming her. The employee immediately started questioning whether it was appropriate and even compared his ACL surgery to my dog's MRIT procedure--which made no sense. To be clear: we had already received clearance from both our veterinarian and the veterinary surgeon who performed the procedure. They both examined her incision, checked her movement, and specifically recommended grooming at this point to help with hygiene and overall care. It didn't stop there. After we left, I called back to see if we could reschedule with someone else, only to have the manager tell me it needed to be at least three months post-op--and added that she "wouldn't even let her own dog" be groomed under these conditions. Even after we explained that the surgeon had cleared it twice, they made it seem like we were being irresponsible for simply following our vet's professional recommendation. What's frustrating is the inconsistent messaging and the way it felt like we were being guilt-tripped for trusting licensed medical professionals who know our dog's health better than anyone else. If they have a blanket policy on post-surgery grooming, that should have been clearly communicated up front--not after we were standing in the salon with our dog. We've since found another groomer who was more professional, listened to the veterinary guidance we were given, and took great care of our dog. I'm disappointed to be leaving this review, but I want other pet owners to be aware that you might not receive the individualized care or professional consideration you expect here. read more

We had been regular customers for about two years, getting our dog groomed every six weeks. Went to take our dog to her appointment during a blizzard and my car wouldn't start. I immediately called them to let them know, and they charged me for a full visit without any consideration for the circumstances. I was told that their policy is to charge full price for last minute cancelations. We're very disappointed in how they treat repeat customers. I had a great experience at the Rockford location so when I needed to reschedule I was happy to try the Monroe location. Accidentally went to Rockford this time. Rockford called and Monroe said to come anyway even though we were now going to be late. I got there and Megan refused to do the appointment even though there were still almost two hours left in the 2.5 hour appointment I booked. Very disappointed. read more

Centrally located on the outskirts of downtown and right next to City Built Brewing this is one classy spot to get the goods for our pooch. Masks up and dog in tow you can get in and out getting exactly what you need. Prices are reasonable but best of all its a local small business that deserves the love for taking notice of our furry loved ones. read more

Being from out of state, I wanted to shop somewhat local to buy a few treats to bring home to my pets. Fido and Stitch was a decent walk from my hotel so I was hoping the reviews lived up to the hype. If you happen to drive there, there is a free parking. The place is packed with items for sale. Clothing, beds, toys, food, treats on treats on treats. I've seen common brand items cheaper elsewhere, but there were items I've never seen before at what seemed to be fair price. The freeze dried animal parts were under a buck to just a couple dollars and my dog loved those treats. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Everything was very organized and clearly priced. I was dining next door and not quite finished with my meal when I saw that Fido and Stitch were about to close via the Yelp app. Looking for something, in particular, I quickly popped over to see if they had what I was looking for. Unfortunately, they didn't have what I was looking for in the size I wanted. They had other sizes so it does look as if they do normally carry it and were just out of stock right now. I walked around a little bit but didn't want to be a complete bother since they were about to close and I wasn't going to purchase anything. It seems like they have a great selection of leashes, harnesses, toys, beds, treats, skin care, etc. There is a small set up of cat things in the back but it looks like they cater to the canines the most. Their food selection seems to be more of the natural type, which I am a big fan of... no fillers! Next time I am looking for something specific I will definitely be back. Super cute neighborhood pet store! Located on Monroe in one of the cool old, rehabbed warehouses, the store has an adorable selection of doggies shirts, collars, and treats. I found a doggie shirt with the state of Michigan outline on and a little paw mark for Grand Rapids. My chihuahua doesn't actually like to wear clothes but I force him to wear it because I like it so much. Prices seem reasonable and when I asked if I could do a return, just in case the shirt didn't fit my dog, the girl working was super nice and explained their policy (within 10 days). I have been coming to this location for the past three years and had a great experience until our groomer moved out west. We were transferred to Celina for our grooming. Last month we had our first grooming Appt with her and she cut our dogs hair in a way that we never asked for or previously mentioned. She shaved the first two inches on the base of our dogs tail. We were disappointed and were going to give her a second chance. I reached out via phone about needing to reschedule potentially and that I was working on finding a family member to bring my dog in for the appointment. Celina attacked me on the phone about how she is commission based and that she has a list of clients that have been cancelling on her. She then stated that she no longer will be accepting me as a client. I asked, "Due to this appointment I no longer can have my dog groomed their?" and she stated "Other groomers can work with you, but I no longer will". I highly recommend finding a different place to get your dog groomed if you are thinking of coming here and they offer Celina as the groomer. The phone call was very unprofessional and could have been handled in a much smoother manner. read more

I used to bring my dog here for her haircuts and the first time I loved the experience and I could tell that my dog was very comfortable. However the second time I took my dog in I called to ask them how much long she would be there for and the person that answered the phone said "she's gonna be a while longer because she's just not having a day". When I asked what that meant she stumbled on her words a bunch and then said "you can just talk to the haircut person when you get here". I was VERY upset with that response but the worst part was that we got charged an extra $15 due to her taking longer. I have taken her to get the same grooming service done at least 10 times and she has never ever had any issues anywhere else. This makes me feel as if she was uncomfortable for a reason. We would never dream of having our dogs groomed anywhere else! Stephanie and Mallory both do an exceptional job with our standard poodles. We have one that is noise-sensitive and they do everything they can to ease his stress. There are no crate dryers (YES!) and there are no crated dogs waiting to be groomed or picked up. We enjoy shopping at Fido&Stitch as well. Our dogs love Barkworthies Odor-Free bully sticks (highly recommend). My dog is an absolute monster when it comes to getting her nails trimmed. I have tried all the tricks in the book and she just won't let me do them. So today I decided I'd bring her in to Fido and Stitch. We called ahead to make sure they had time for a walk and in appointment prior to taking her in. They were able to get me in at 10 am and I called around 9 when the opened. My dog is also easily spooked by people and has had fear aggression in the past and the groomer, Lauren, immediately got on the floor with Lady (my doggo) to give her some lovin' and make her comfortable. Lauren let me go in the back with her to help with Lady while she did her nails. She was quick and efficient and gave Lady lots of pets and praise throughout! After her trim I loved that she asked if my dog was allergic to anything prior to offering her a treat. (I've gone to places in the past that just give her whatever they want and that really bothers me...) Since it was also our first time in the shop we also picked up a smoked femur bone for her to munch on while we were at home. The shop has lots of great local pet products as well as a variety of pet parent swag! I would HIGHLY recommend taking your pet here. Oh! And they also do cat nails on Sunday mornings! read more

This is my absolute favorite place to shop for my dog. They have a huge assortment of treats, food, leashes, dog clothes, etc. all at some of the most affordable pricing I've ever seen. Well, never got in to get my dog groomed because the person I spoke to on the phone was extremely rude. I tried to get an idea of pricing and the guy acted bothered. We figured out a time they had available but I had to check with my husband if he could drop my dog off at that time so I called back. When I called back I politely said, "I think I just spoke to you on the phone." He pretentiously replied, "Perhaps, I talk to a lot of people." Then he told me he was hoping I would change grooming times because the groomer would have to change their schedule, to which I responded I couldn't because I had to work... then when I asked when I should pick him up he told me they would text me and I had to pick him up right away.
