Small dog park is a nice size with grass and decomposed granite. I didn't go into the large dog area but it looks big. There is a shade structure with a picnic table and a bench. Other than that the only shade is from two very small trees. The parking lot is right by the entrance and there is a restroom with family restrooms big enough to take your dog into close by. read more

my biggest complaint is the ppl that take there big dogs in the small dog park....maybe put a weight limit for the small dog park because there is huge dogs in the small dog park it's not just 1 say it's everyday all day long and it's wild. most dog parks have a 20 lb limit in small dog parks and there's ppl out there with 80-120 lb dogs and something needs to be done about it read more

We went to a corgi meetup here today and it was so fun! They have two pretty large size fields, one for small and one for big dogs. The fields were generally pretty clean, with benches for sitting and water faucets for the pups. There is some awning coverage for the warmer months for the humans to sit and shelter but not a ton of shade for the dogs while they're running around. No need to bring your own tennis ball, there must be a million here! The broader park area also had a dirt park which was cool, and plenty more benches and bathrooms available. read more

Considering this is one of the very few dog parks in the Folsom area, it could be better. In the summer it can obviously get super hot depending on the time of day. There could be more trees and areas. The gravel which makes up 90% of the large dog area is unsafe for dog paws and can make them bleed. My biggest negative. No lights! In the fall/winter, it gets dark around 4/5pm. If you get off work, it'll be dark and you can't bring you dog to play. They would really just add a couple lights to one of the parks. They could even point one of the tall lights from the skate park over at the dog area! The skate area is lit up all night, even when it's empty so I don't know why we can't get a couple here. Other dog parks I've been to in Arizona and Nevada have lights so owners can come later at night when it's cooler during the summer. I come here several times a week and at least once a week, someone with an untrained out of control dog is here. A couple weeks ago a man brought a large dog that was violent and aggressive with almost every dog. There were about 25 dogs present and multiple dog owners were trying to get this owner to take control of their dog. Luckily, we all convinced the guy to leave before anyone got seriously hurt. All in all, it's not the worst dog park I've been to but it's far from the best. This past winter, there have been days where it's closed when it should be as well. read more

This is like the only actual off leash dog park in the Folsom area that I know of . It pretty standard and well maintained. There are separate small and large parks within a big park with skate park , picnic tables, and a paved trail around the back of the park. Within the dog park , there is dirt and also a green grassy area. Water station , a few benches with some shade trees, and pop bags are available. While visiting family yesterday with our dog we stopped here to allow her to play and family to catch up. Great place two side one for 25# and under and one for BIG dogs however some older dogs maybe in small area for safety the Big dogs play hard. Don't be a Karen about it either. You do you and mind your business OK back to the dog park lots of run area super clean shade area and water play available when its hot. Clean restrooms also for dog Mom and Dad. if you have kids great skate park and bike area too. read more

This would be a nice park, but for one, glaring and constant problem. Ignorant dog owners bring their large, over 30 lb dogs into the small dog park. Smaller and very small breeds get injured by larger dogs constantly here. Some of these idiots seem to enjoy watching their large dog jump on and hurt smaller breeds, until that is, the owner of the smaller dog(s) knocks their teeth out, which is what is going to happen the next time this occurs. Yeah, if you can't control your dog, or he or she is aggressive, bring them somewhere else, unless of course you'd like some dental work as well. read more

I want to like this dog park so bad but I just can't because every time I try and go here BOTH large dog parks are ALWAYS closed. Since my dog is quite big I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing her in the small dog park because she could accidentally step on a smaller dog and because many small dog owners get very angry at the possibility that their dogs could get injured. While I believe they are doing some sort of work on main large dog park they have no notice of this posted anywhere so it's always a gamble when the park will be open. When I have attempted to go to the other large dog park behind the BMX park, that place is also mainly closed. I have been here at least 10 different times and have only been in either park 3 times. It just always ends with me being frustrated for even having the hope this place is open. So I was very nervous bringing my dog here today. In all we have 5 dogs. But as it turned out it was a very nice experience. Our puppy is very rambunctious so that's why I was nervous, she also retired to be dominant. But as it turned out she fit right in the dogs were all very cool, some scared, some chill, some very energetic. Thank the gods my puppy rolled in with the energetic ones. They wore her out, she came home and crashed for a few hours. I know she feels it. The park itself is very very big and extremely clean. They have two fenced in areas, one for small dogs and one for larger dogs. Both were very clean. Tethered are many people who frequent the parks so it always nice to see people who know the area. Folsom is doing the dog park thing right. The park is closed Wednesdays and they rotate the small and large dogs between three fields each month so one field has the month off. This leads to overall better maintenance and grass that isn't just half mud like a lot of highly-trafficked dog parks. My experience with the other park goers has been positive. People seem to be watching their dogs and follow the rules for the most part. Sometimes someone brings a large dog to the small side or someone lets their kid run around and approach dogs unsafely, but I think it's impossible to be 100% free of that. People also seem to clean up after their dogs. I'm glad I live close to this one! read more

Every time I have gone to this dog park it has been packed! The owners are responsible. Few dogs, if any, are aggressive. I have brought my Golden puppy here many times. She is at the weird stage where is too big for the little dog area and a little too small for the large dog area. We take to the large dog area and, while she half the size of most, the dogs are gentle and friendly with her. She always has a great time. The fellow owners are quite nice too so I have a good time as well. read more

Our dog Enzo "flips-out" as we near Fido Field, he seems to know that fun and frolic are just moments away. We like the separation of the big and little dog areas. Although Enzo seems to be comfortable in either area. For the most part the park is well maintained, and at most times your fellow dog owners are on "poop patrol" to make sure folks pickup after their pooch. We hear that EDH and Cameron Park are scheduled for dogs parks, but until those open we'll be frequent visitors to Fido Field. read more

This review is for the small dog park. The reviews about the "dust park" are pretty accurate for the large dog park. The small dog parks is really large in comparison to other parks I've been to. There is a lot of well kept grass for your little dog to run on as well as a small sand area. The people area (benches and cement) is a little smaller than expected but it's a park for dogs, not people so I guess it makes sense. I like that this park provides doodie bags to clean up after your dog instead of metal pans. Keeps the park cleaner and less stinky. read more

I only like this dog park because it is the closest park to El Dorado Hills. I like to call it Mud Park or Dirt Park most of the time because that is all it really is. A fenced in area of dirt. Add water from the fountain area or the kiddie pools that people add in the summer and you end up with two filthy labs in your car on the way home. Over the past couple of years, we've taken our dog to FIDO field a few times. It's been a couple of months since our last visit and the small dog park is open again and looks great! Our dog loves to socialize and fits in well with either the small dogs (she's a basset - short and gentle) or the large dogs, so we usually visit both. There are nice benches that are under an awning and not right next to the trash cans. There are baggies provided and while there are a few misses, overall the visitors do a good job cleaning up. read more

I take my girls there every time we visit relatives in the area. My two young, very high energy Rescue pups, lab mix n GSD, need the freedom to run and play. I am so grateful for this park. No frills but all the necessities. Love that it's open every day and they don't close it due to rain, my local Folsom dog park is closed every Wed for cleaning(not necessary to close, dogs need exercise everyday) and they'll close if rain. I was visiting the beautiful area of Folsom for tennis. I had my dog that was excited to be at a dog park from long rides in the car. I went twice, last Saturday and Sunday.. Saturday was pretty clean not much poo, Sunday there was lots of poo all around the whole park. I saw about 10 plus poos. Suggestions: Pooper scoopers. The parks in the Bay Area have these. I would not mind picking up 1-3 other dogs poo.. but with no pooper scooper. I rwould pass. Another suggestion. The grass area was a muddy mess. Suggestion. Turf. I liked that the gates to the park are very easy to maneuver with a big dog in tow...other than that, kind of a bleak looking dog park! When we first walked in, I thought that the entire park was just dirt, but it does go back to a smaller grassy area (smaller than the dirt area). I can imagine that after a rainy day, you would not want to bring your dog here! I also liked that people appeared to be responsible for their pets, ahem, business...I didn't have to walk around as if in a minefield. That is a plus. On a sidenote, Chris was really put off by a woman who he observed frequently shocking her dog for what appeared to be little to no reason (other than playing roughly with another dog, not responding to being called, etc.) I did not realize that this was going on, and I'm glad I didn't know, because I would have spend the whole time feeling sorry for the doggie! This would be a great dog park if the city would make sure that large dogs don't come into the small dog park side. The large dog park is being renovated and there is another large dog park a little further away. ( 60 yards maybe). Repeatedly I have asked large dog owners not to bring their large dogs into the small dog side and they simply won't listen and I assume even after they are told where to go they are too stubborn and lazy to walk over there. My dogs have been going to dog parks for 3 years and never a problem until now. It's not the dog park it's the people. ( Yes men- stubborn and mean). Okay I just won't go anymore. 3 park areas: small dog, large dog, and the expansion park. They're always rotating the parks so one is always closed. There are signs notating the schedule and what size dogs it's designated for. There is a park behind the bike mounds and it's a little bit of a way from the parking area but it's fairly large. There are plenty of garbage bins and poop bags throughout the areas. I've seen staff come refill the bags so that's always nice that they're on top of it. There's water spouts so you can always bring your own water bowl if you wanted. All 3 areas have some benches and tables. Shade is better in some areas more than others. Overall, I find the facilities pretty clean and relatively safe. In the park area behind the bike mounds I've noticed that where the fence is a small dog could potentially climb under. Take caution if you have a small dog! Dogs parks are places you use at your own risk. Not all dog owners are supervising their dog. When I find myself in that situation I just direct my dog to a new area if I find the other dog to be overly aggressive. My dog is pretty timid as it is. Plenty of space for everyone though. There is no "dog park police" to designate what dog belongs where. It's just cordial dog park etiquette to pick up after your dog and monitor your dog. This place is like a grave yard for chewed up balls and frisbee. We're here every weekend! Do yourself a favor and bring an old towel for the car ride home. We have been going to the dog park in Fair Oaks for such a long time, coming here for a change was nice. I loved the location of it and the parking is great, IE paved and no pot holes. I think the neighborhood is wonderful and you don't have to worry about having your car broken into while you're here which is a plus. This is a very clean good sized park. I take my pup to the little dog side as often as I can. The reason for the 2 stars is because some of the regulars here would rather sit and chat than watch their bully dogs that like to pick on others.
