There are a lot of parking spots for this size of a park. This was my favorite park growing up and I am glad it is still nicely tended to! It would be a great place to have events on the field, e.g sports, bbqs, hangouts, family picnics, and dog events! But only downside is that there isn't much shade here so do bring your own canopies!

So if your little dog isn't social or gets nervous around larger dogs, you might want to look elsewhere.

I have been a few times now and one day was muddy do the very much needed rain in California. Then the next few times there was a few dogs. It was great with no dogs the 1st time because we all got to see and get a feel for the place without dogs being dogs trying to make friends and not listen. Well mine is only a little over 4 months now so we are still training with him. Ok back to the barking.. i mean park. They have 2 dog poop bag areas, and trash for doggie waste and a water fountain for them to get there drank on! i would still bring your own bags cause they were both empty so far for the bags, and water fountain was kinda clean even for a dog, but still keep water on yourself just incase, could be really dirty or even shutoff next time like having kids and dogs always have to be prepared for them. The best part of walking the dog park was that i didn't even step in 1 pile or even find a pile being left behind from anyone. That was amazing and very refreshing to see people cleaning up!! High 5 to all who come here and to the ones everyday around this world that pick up after there pets! You are awesome and i thankyou bunches. I have stepped in a few at apartment complex were they have 5 stations fully stocked with bags and people still don't. :O/ They also have a big plastic container with some toys people either leave behind or donate im guessing and theres a lot of tennis balls in here. It's open from sunrise to sunset, it is located in the back of bannon creek park fenced behind the school. But if you come down bannon creek st. You will see a black n white sign with a dog and a arrow, so you can follow the sign and the dog will use his sense of smell maybe, and you should find your way. Small dog side had a crap ton of feces early October 2025. No excuse for it - there were tons of dookie bags tied to the fence. Dookie blended in with the loose dirt and tree dander. Small dog side also had burs and some other weeds. Unappealing. Large dog side maybe had 2 dog turds but was bare/clean, much better. It also had heavily used scoop pans. I'll stick to my quality poop bags and having her do her business on cue, in peace, elsewhere, thanks. Decomposed granite only, no grass either side. Both sides small to medium in size. Larger joint transition area compared to other parks. Right outside the dog park are several metal tables with 4 charcoal grills. Dog birthday party setting? Haha. Plenty of street parking including spaces under the overpass for warmer days. Loved that there's a large grassy park across the street with benches. We ate there and it was peaceful enough but the road noise from Howe Avenue is a bit much. The overhead power lines at the two parks are a bit much, too, particularly at the dog park. One great feature is the easy access to the American River Trail and the levee trail. Go for a road run, trail run, or walk towards Watt Ave or Cal Expo. Overall, my dog and I don't need to come back because it grossed me out, but it was a great outlet for my dog to get her sniff on.

There's street parking only, but usually plenty of spots available. It's right next to a running trail, so if you can't dog park for whatever reason you could walk as an alternative. Pros: tall fences. Separate big and small dog sides. Working water with new water stations. Trash cans and scoopers provided (unless they get stolen). Plenty of bench space. Shade some hours from the big tree. Cons: small side has A LOT of dead grass with stickers. The big side has flooded near the gate the last few winters. It's a dirt floor, so it gets super dusty. The benches usually have pee on them (but it's a dog park). The small dog side is really big and could've been made a little smaller to adjust for the big dog side to be bigger.

We didn't go in -- this was purely a socialization mission. Lobo stayed just outside the fence, observing the chaos like a wise old man watching neighborhood kids from the porch. And you know what? He crushed it. Calm, cool, and collected. Gold star. We don't plan on doing dog parks for play since he goes to daycare and thrives in a more structured setting, but if dog parks are your thing -- this one could be a winner. Clean, not overwhelming, and right next to the R Street Corridor, which means you can treat your pup to a full Midtown adventure after. Grab a walk, some sniffs, and maybe hit a patio if your dog's in a chill mood. Or do what Lobo did and just stand outside the fence like a refined gentleman, silently judging everyone inside. 10/10 outing. No paws were stepped on. No chaos ensued. We love to see it.

It's in a little neighborhood right by a school and there is a parking lot as well as street parking. The park has a baseball field, a big grassy field where people were playing flag football, a little gazebo, a community garden, a playground area, and a small and large dog area. Unfortunately, when I stopped by the dog park was locked because they were spraying for weeds- the plus side is that this means the park is well maintained. From the outside it looked really nice, a large space with plenty of grass. Since the park is right next to the school it is very busy with families and people playing in the larger areas/fields. It isn't a huge park, and it wouldn't be great for walks unless you're wanting to walk in the neighborhood around it but for what it is, it's a great park.

Dog owners here, from our experience, are responsible, laid back, and friendly. 2 sections - small and large dogs. To nit pick just one thing - access to refill dog water bowls is quite cumbersome. Instead of the water faucet being inside, there's one outside the dog pens in between the small and large sections. Would've been nicer to have it immediately inside the vicinity but I understand the saving costs for this move. Nothing that'll deter us from returning though! Hopefully they do something about the initial gate entry, though, as there was no first gate in place to avoid a pup from escaping. Just be cautious when you enter and exit. Overall, extremely happy about this local dog park and we'll be visiting often!
