Matthew made sure I didn't sink!!

Shout out to Matthew! Boo to the blond guy (sorry I didn't get a name due to his horrible service and lack of even caring ) If you're ever having trouble with your paddle board, Matthew took the time, effort and he knows his way around a paddleboard! All it took was a little inquiry and Matthew fixed my leaky paddleboard. Silly me, I forgot to push in the stopper! Lol Thank you Matthew!

I've visited Black Miners Bar every Juneteenth weekend for the past two years and have loved the rental board/kayak experience, the accessible (and decently priced) parking, and the scenery. It's super easy to rent paddle boards, kayaks, or canoes through their website and there is plenty of space once you're out on the water. I always note that their tables and benches fill up quickly and that on the shore it is very crowded and busy. I have no complaints otherwise. There are lots of geese and ducks out on the water, but as long as you don't feed them or mess with them, they leave people alone. I was inspired to purchase my own paddle board and start coming to the lake more often! I recommend everyone come visit Black Miners Bar.

This place is such a jewel in our community. It is hands down our favorite place to Paddle board. We have our own boards and it is so easy to launch at the boat dock or near the rental and lifeguard station. We purchased the Poppy Pasa and we definitely take advantage and go as often as possible as a couple or with friends. There is always a friendly vibe. You will see families, singles, couples, young people and older people. We love seeing all of the dogs on boards. It's nicely maintained with clean bathrooms. I never regret going. You will see all kinds of wildlife: bald eagles, swans, fish, ducks geese and I know others have seen turtles and river otters. Such a special place!

This is my first time here. Usually I would go to nimbus flat or folsom lake to paddle board. But this spot was recommended by my sister. I like that it has a boat launch areas but also beach front area for paddling or kayaking. I especially like that they Jane paddle board rentals and life jackets nearby. The beach are is shallow in which kids can play without parents worrying, however there is a life guard. Its a pretty big park, as there are bbq areas to picnic. Would definitely come back here to picnic or just paddle board.

We spend a lot of time here paddle boarding and walking the trail. Great way to spend your day outside. Bathrooms are usually clean enough and I hardly ever see trash lying around. A lot of ducks and wild life in general.

We frequently walk here. Also, a great place to enjoy a sunset You can easily access it from Folsom or park in the lot ($10 fee) It can get crowded but not always!

Black miners bar is a great experience I went a little further than I did previously on my walk. I didn't notice much of a hike in the area but you can definitely walk for miles on end. If anybody knows where I can actually find some elevation let me know. I got a free state park pass from the library, typically you pay the state park fee to enter this park. It's basically located Folsom Citrus Heights border. They also have a lake where you can get in paddle board fish, there is a horse stable not too far away I've seen horses come through there. Also the big talk when I was walking was the fact that they had an Eagles Nest somewhere close by, and you could see the eagle it's if you accessed it from a specific trail. I saw the nest but I didn't see any Eagles. This is a great Park to venture, I highly suggest researching the history of the park. It was great history of a black miners.

I went here on a Sunday afternoon for a picnic. It cost $10 to park, and there were a few different parking areas. The far parking lot is where people take their paddle boards. The close parking lot is the one by the beach. There are bathrooms down by the beach and one by the parking lot. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because the bathroom didn't have toilet paper or paper towels or soap. This beach is dog friendly, but there are some things you should be aware of. There are geese (and therefore goose poop) everywhere. So, if your dog is gross like mine, they might try to roll in goose poop. Other triggers for reactive dogs are that up by the parking area, there are a S**TTON of squirrels and they are so very brave. One ran under our picnic table while my dog was sitting on the table. Not okay. And lastly, there was an off leash dog there, which is a trigger for my dog. I really liked how all the picnic tables had shade over them.

We absolutely love this place. We come here several times a month. Beautiful beach, and AMAZING kayaking. Definitely recommend coming here

Parking is $10. Great place to paddle board and watch the sunset. The paddle board community is very respectful and friendly.

Friendly staff and clean bathrooms. Lifeguard on duties was comforting. Kayaks, canoe and paddle board for rent was a plus. We felt safe bringing kids under 10 during our mini getaway from the summer heat. This place will be our favorite annual spot for summer from now on.

My sister, nephew and I wanted to do Middle Fork this year and I remember it being an adrenaline rush and challenging but so fun- We picked a Tuesday so it was not crowded, but when it ended up being just the three of us in the raft with Juli, I was a little nervous, remembering how intimidating tunnel chute was- and I didn't have the security of a full raft of people to weigh down the raft and help paddle to build up speed. This just goes to show you how important a seasoned veteran rafting guide is Juli was amazing. He gave clear instructions, he was very calm, and he managed the raft like a pro. No no flipping over and no one fell out. So exciting! Now I want to go to Costa Rica and look up Whitewater excitement there and request Juli. Hope to do this at least one more time this year. If I lived closer, I would go more often. Ps- I read some people complaining that you have to pitch in to carry the raft from the water up to the trucks and from the trucks down to the water, I've only been with one company that did not ask you to do that. All the rest have always had the rafters help out in pitch-in.

We did not make reservations ahead of time; we arrived right when the center opened. We explored about two miles at a leisurely pace in just over an hour. We went north across the lake to the pond area and felt like adventurers as we wove in and out of the watery passageways. We saw many swans and even a beaver. It was beginner-friendly, but it still felt novel and cool. We brought our own life vests, but they have plenty available for anyone who does not bring one. Parking: $10 if you don't rent their equipment, with plenty of spaces in the complex. Otherwise, you can park for "free" at the State Park area if you have the Golden Poppy Annual Pass ($125). The park also has plenty of picnic tables and a small beach area for sunbathing. Restrooms: Women's (5 stalls), Men's (5 stalls), plus 2 unisex restrooms. There are plenty of rental options, including single/tandem kayaks, SUP boards, and canoes. If you are in a group, all renters must sign in at the same time because the rental period starts once you sign in. They also have CREW and CANOE clubs! All rentals must be returned by 8 PM or you may be fined. No cycling or weight training on the premises, but there is a basketball court on the side. All life jackets, equipment, and docks were clean and in good condition. The payment line moves quickly. If possible, print the waiver at home to save time. You also need to create an account on their website before they can place your order; otherwise, you'll need to create one on the spot when purchasing tickets. After purchasing, you leave your driver's license and car key with them. There is a 15-minute courtesy buffer deducted from your total rental time for walking to the dock, restroom breaks, setup, etc. Service: friendly and efficient. If you change your mind: for example, from a SUP board to a kayak: they simply call the front desk and let you switch at the dock. Lake Natoma is perfect for kayaking or paddleboarding because it starts wide and gradually narrows. The current is almost nonexistent until around 4 PM. It's about 2 miles to the small island near Willow Creek Recreation Area, which makes a perfect scenic picnic spot.

The group we rafted with was cohesive and kind, and the guides were patient, but challenging. We had the opportunity to be part of a rowing school and to understand the "science" of rafting. Examples of instruction were navigating into an eddy, ferrying across a current to the other side of the river, tying off a boat, setting up angles, and reading currents were just a few skills that were taught. Sierra Mac and our group was welcoming, eager to teach, and patient all the while giving appropriate feedback. The instruction truly was "hands on" as we got the opportunity to take a turn at rowing to learn the basic mechanics of boat rowing. While we expected to be in tents, we actually slept without them, and this ended up being a cool experience for us and pushed my teenagers to realize it can be done!
