The Kennedy Family loved the ocean and sailing and what a way to memorialize JFK! I had to go back because there is so much to learn and absorb in one time! I meticulously going exhibit by exhibit to learn and understand this Presidency! I know they change exhibits and add others and today was the 250th Birthday of the DECLARATION of INDEPENDENCE, which I wanted to re-read once again! So, if you take your time and sit and watch the many movies they have and marvel at the Medals and Gifts and all the photos of the 1960's as President and the outfits Jacqueline Kennedy on display will show you her slim look and exquisite style ! Go and spend a day there and browse and stop at the Cafe and have Coffee overlooking the harbor and airport! Pick up a souvenir and take lots of photos!

Clinton's was great, and I am looking forward to Obama's very much. I just think this might have been one of the first and they just weren't saving all the good stuff to show off in a museum. At my last visit, I spent most of my time in a side room where they hosted a children's storytime. Check the library calendar because they have some fun stuff coming up at the North Quincy branch - including mini golf with 2 different times for kids and adults. There's parking behind the library but we didn't know that and parked on the street.

Can you believe it? Librarians got your back yet again. Your local library is probably one of the most useful, and underutilized resources in your neighborhood. This library sits close to Grove Hall, so you can easily go in any direction for your coffee or snacking needs, and settle back into a cozy chair to finally finish that book on your list.

This one-story library was much bigger than I anticipated (in comparison to the Upham's Corner…read morelibrary and the Field's Corner library, this is much bigger) so this was a lovely surprise. Since this was my first time here, I am not sure if they recently went through renovations or not, but it sure looks like it. The library has high ceilings, couches towards the middle of the floor, and the tables next to the windows that make it a bright spot to work at. What I also liked was the courtyard section (make sure you don't bring food inside since you won't be able to eat it in the courtyard & FYI it was locked so you will need to ask for the doors to be opened). There are a lot of tables and seats so if you feel like reading outside this might be a good idea once it's officially spring weather. It might not be ideal if you're trying to work on a laptop since the tables are made out of wood and the wood does not have super smooth finish.

The librarians are wonderful, smart and resourceful. I never go downtown for anything or even to another branch when I order online and pick up there. When my children were younger we spent hours on the rug in the childrens section enjoying the best children's books before they could talk. I spent hours there writing my dissertation and still appreciate the encouragement and support I got from the staff. Special programs in the big add even more to this branch which is almost as a community center as a library for the Lower Mills and surrounding community. When we had to fight to keep it open, the neighborhood and local merchants were fighting for an invaluable and treasured community resource. We love the Boston Public Library Lower Mills Branch! I've had mixed experiences here. The first time I came to get a library card and to reserve a…read moremuseum pass, it seemed like the librarian was totally overwhelmed by my request. I would recommend reserving your pass online and picking up. I did this the second time and had no problems. This branch makes me a little sad because it's mostly older people using the computers. I wish they could modernize it a little bit and have more programs to get the community (kids) in there to give it a more youthful and modern vibe.
