WiFi, is serviceable though, managed to pull up what i needed for work and edit / execute without issue. Haven't tried playing much outside YouTube but that works with minimal buffer. Clean and open space with a lot of resources!

Staff here is very kind and helpful if you need help with anything. LOTS of parking here. They're open Monday-Wednesday 9am-9pm, Thursdays 1pm-9pm, Friday & Saturday 9am-5pm, & Sunday closed.

So... without further adieu: - Library of Things: It's already amazing enough that libraries have books, movies, music, magazines, and other media. Thomas Crane also has an ample select of items that can be checked out: wellness and sport, hobby, tech, tools, home, and many more. - Green Space: There is a large outdoor area with a handful of benches and trees. Not enough to call it a mini-park, but enough to be noted, and great for reading or relaxing outside on a nice day. I think they have Wifi available outdoors, too. - Staff: everyone I've interacted with has been patient, friendly, and kind. - The Richardson Building: This is a wing of the library from 1882. The wood throughout, lighting fixtures, stained glass windows, all are from, or inspired, a different time. It is like a special, permanent exhibit in a museum, and something I loved to have in my local library when I lived in Quincy. - Common Space: I hold that libraries are one of the few public spaces where one can exist without spending money. While this isn't shopping mall, its not a bad place for someone to spend a few hours. - Cafe: I never bought food or coffee, but it's gratifying to have a cafe available in a space like this. - Bookstore: While as with the cafe I haven't bought any books, it's cool to have a dedicated space for buying books the library may want to sell for whatever reason. - Parking: need I say more? A lot with more than enough space for library patrons. I don't recall their ever not being a spot when I needed one. - Collections: While not as large as Boston Public Library, Thomas Crane has an impressive collection of materials and media. Everything is well organized too. There's even board and card games available to borrow. The one and only complaint I have is that some of the furniture, namely the carrells are a little worn.

Check the library calendar because they have some fun stuff coming up at the North Quincy branch - including mini golf with 2 different times for kids and adults. After returning back to Hyde Park I maintained residency in Hyde Park because I love this city. I am a full-time college student and a single parent of two. I love the children's floor they have and I am at the library a minimum of three times a week and for hours on end each visit. Today while reading and taking notes there was a young woman and man who I believe work here that were talking at the circulation desk. At this point I have been here for about 2 and a half hours and they have been there taking the while time. A woman walks in looking for a book she left here the night before. As it turns out she couldn't check the book out for whatever reason and the librarian on duty told her she would hold it for her for the next day. That specific librarian was on her lunch break and the younger woman "barely" looked for the book before she told the patron she couldn't find it. The patron seemed agitated not fully understanding the situation, in my opinion. The patron kept repeating, "she said she would eave it for me". The younger woman said she is on her lunch break come back in a hour and the patron repeated her previous statement. The younger woman then said, "well I don't know what to tell you I can't find it. She will be back in a hour from lunch come back then". As a social worker I was appalled by the treatment that this patron received at the library today. It appeared in my opinion that the patron may have had some cognitive delays and couldn't understand why they couldn't just reach out to the librarian in question and ask her where the book was. Without a second thought the younger woman went right back into her conversation while I sat at my computer in awe. This will not stop me from coming to this library but if I had a closer option for me and my children I would leave this branch and never look back.

I'm originally from Boston, so I frequented the BPL in Copley Square quite a bit. Since I moved around so much, I feel quite at home at Thayer Public Library. Staff are very accommodating and polite, and able to help with almost anything you need. Their media collection is massive compared to the BPL, and I simply just love it. Plus, I live across the street, so yay me!

I know they change exhibits and add others and today was the 250th Birthday of the DECLARATION of INDEPENDENCE, which I wanted to re-read once again! So, if you take your time and sit and watch the many movies they have and marvel at the Medals and Gifts and all the photos of the 1960's as President and the outfits Jacqueline Kennedy on display will show you her slim look and exquisite style ! Go and spend a day there and browse and stop at the Cafe and have Coffee overlooking the harbor and airport! Pick up a souvenir and take lots of photos!

Normally I don't say to go out of your way to go somewhere, but I prefer this over my local library by 1000% (the Westwood Library is so bad!).
