I love doing focus groups. I'm happy to sell my opinion! But in addition to that, I actually do find most of these studies or market research subjects interesting. It's kind of cool to see how companies, institutions, firms, etc. gauge what people are thinking in hopes of either improving their product, understanding constituents' thoughts, bringing something new to market, or what have you. Parking is free in the covered lot, even though the lot has the mechanical arms for entrance and exit; you don't have to pull a ticket, just wait for it to allow you entrance. There's a pedestrian walkway on the second level of the parking lot. To get to Fieldwork, you can enter the building from the walkway, take a right past the security desk and then right again to make your way to the elevator bank (make sure to use the one for the correct floor--elevators go from 1-10 and 11-20). The Fieldwork office itself is clean and comfortable. Once you check in for your study you'll grab your name tag and wait for the study to begin. Don't be late, or you may not get to participate and/or may not be paid for the study, and similarly don't take extra long breaks or anything--you're there for a specific purpose, and if you're not doing what you signed up for you're putting your compensation at risk. There's often some sort of light snack, water, or something available for folks as they wait or during breaks. Depending upon the length and time of your study, you might be given a light meal; for instance, I was here for a four hour study from 5-9 pm and they gave us sandwiches and chips from Jimmy John's. Jimmy John's sucks, of course, but what can you do? It was sufficient for a meal and made it easier for me than having to figure out when I was going to eat before 5 or after 9. I was a tiny bit confused about where to go when I got here, even though I've been to Schaumburg plenty of times and knew the general vicinity of where this building would be. I'd definitely recommend planning to get here about 20 minutes early just to make sure you can find your way, get in a bathroom break, and make sure you're on time. I received the compensation for my study within 24 hours (they say to allow up to 48 for it to be sent to the email you provided). It is pretty annoying that all these companies no longer pay in cash but only by some sort of digital or prepaid card; however, the one that Fieldwork uses gave me the option to either get a digital code for online-only use, or a physical card, or to have it deposited in my bank account, the last of which would deduct a small fee from the amount of the card. For me it was worth it to lose a couple bucks to just have it transferred to my bank account rather than having to keep track of or try to spend a digital card/code (it's amazing how few online merchants take more than one form of payment, so trying to spend the whole thing especially when you get to the end can be a pain). read more

Are they ghosting me? Last week I was contacted by "Holly" about participating in using an at home medical test. I think this would also involve being in a focus group. Holly asked me some qualifying questions. At the time she contacted me, I was on vacation. She said she would have to ask her manager about the answer I gave to one of the questions asked. She said she'd get back to me the next day. I said I'd be travelling and might not be available for a phone call. I gave her an email address she could contact me at. When I got home, I checked my email. No response. I called the office twice. No response. What's going on? read more

This company is extremely inconsistent and will schedule you then won't answer the phone. I was scheduled for an interview by "Charlie" and was confirmed mid December. I was told I'd have to do an assignment. To start off with, the interviews beforehand are horrible. I was called twice for the same interview and asked the same questions. The people calling CANNOT pronounce the names of anything they are testing. That should've been the first red flag. If your going to do surveys at least have the decency to have people pronounce the names of the products properly. I got a call back 2 days after I called to leave a message and was told I wasn't "actually" on the scheduled anymore. So you just schedule people then take them off without notifying them? If this company schedules and then doesn't follow through they need to the very least call and notify the people. This company is horribly unprofessional and won't call you back. read more

I don't leave 1-star reviews for many companies, but this one was recommended by a coworker who has had some successful 'gigs' with them, albeit each sounded like it wasn't worth it based on factors including (A) distance driven, (B) personal time required and/or (C) extra work not mentioned during the original description. Anyways, you first need to qualify for their goofy market research studies by filling out their online surveys, which SURPRISE: seem to collect a ton of personal information! (It's as if that is the actual trick... you give them all the info before they even offer you the 'opportunity' to get $100, let alone putting in the work for it.) Worse yet, these surveys take 10-20+ minutes, so let's continue... Once the online survey is complete, you may or may NOT get a call back to actually participate. Naturally, they'll call you while at work and ask you the SAME questions from the survey! Note that the call can take another 10-15 minutes, so a grand total of 30 minutes now spent on this company NOT GETTING PAID, haha... I got 3 calls from them and after 15 minutes per call, I was told 'there's no more room for participants in this survey,' so yeah, they're preying on folks who want a quick buck (me included), but haven't figured out that it pays more to just get a job at Burger King for a couple hours. Think twice before wasting time, gas money and your freedom from nonsense like this! read more

If I could give them a negative star rating I would. I attended this location for a 2 part research study. When I was initially contacted and invited to participate, I was told I would be paid $150 when I completed part I and $150 when I completed part 2. When I arrived I signed an agreement stating the same, that I would be compensated after I finished the first part of the study, and then again after the second. After completion of part one, I asked about being compensated. They said I would receive it in an email before the end of the day. That never happened. I attempted to contact multiple people, multiple times at the company and was completely disregarded and given different excuses. I came in, signed an agreement, which was also signed by them, I did what I committed to do. They never paid me. DO NOT work with this company. You won't get paid! read more

So, I was asked to work on a project entitled, "Motherboard". It was a project re: technology. To that end, I was booked and ready to be a part of the interview set for August 24th. I logged into the platform, Fieldwork's client sent, and I was waiting in the "waiting room" awaiting the interviewers to join. BTW, every email I received said it was required to ONLY use a computer. Then when the project came closer to the date, I was told to ONLY USE MY PHONE. I called Fieldwork, they admitted the error, said they would look into it, and then proceeded to tell me to use my phone and the computer requisite was wrongly sent to me. Andy, one of the employees for Fieldwork and the "go to" person for this project, called me and indicated I was booked for the next day which was August 25th. I told him that was incorrect, and I had the email as a receipt of the correct date. He patiently waited as I looked through my email, and sure enough, I was correct. It was the 24th. To that end, I called Fieldwork and complained about being booked, and then not being able to participate. As an aside, I was asked to work on a Hollywood project, however; I cancelled, because I told them I had another engagement (which was the Motherboard project - of which I didn't tell the Hollywood execs.) My loyalty would not let me leave Fieldwork in a lurch, because I gave them my word. You know what they did. They SCREWED ME! Carlos, a "supervisor" called me and APPEARED to be empathetic. He rescheduled me for the following Monday. All was cool, then a few hours later, he left a message on my phone indicating he had to cancel the date and to call him back or the following day which was Saturday (he left the times in which I could call which was 8:00 am. -3: 00 p.m. CST). Low and behold, I followed his instructions and tried to call back on Saturday, only to have the Fieldworks' phone ring and then say, "Goodbye". I was pissed! Carlos called me the following Monday (TODAY) and told me he left me a message. When I told him I received his message, however, everytime I called, Fieldwork's phone would ring and then say, "Goodbye". You know what he had the nerve to ask? "Do you still feel like doing the study or should we cancel (the should we cancel are my words, because I cannot remember specifically what he said, but basically it was if I would just no longer wish to do the project.) I responded with, "So you are not going to address the fact that I called on Saturday and noone picked up the phone. I told him they probably forwarded the calls, because they were busy. He gave me some weak excuses as to why they didn't answer, and seem indifferent. HIs goal was to get things resolved with poor listening skills. Needless to say, I rebooked for 11:30 a.m. today. When I tried to sign in, weirdly the link was gone. The client was gracious and sent me a Google link. The volume wouldn't work. To that end, I told Sahil, the project manager to apologize to them, but I would have to abort the project. This entire experience was a cacophony of errors, beginning with Tiffane never returning my emails, to Carlos not GAF. Oh, and when Carlos rebooked me, he sent me an email to say I MUST USE A COMPUTER. I can't make this up, lol CLIENTS - NEVER USE FIELDWORK NRC. THEY ARE HUSTLERS, AND THEY WILL BE EXPOSED. read more

I was recruited to participate in a market research study. I was qualified via an online questionaire, and then again over the phone (same questions...annoying) when they called to confirm my availability and interest. I was then required to do a computer compatibility test. Everything tested A-OK. On the day of the project there were technical issues on their end that required me to spend 20+ minutes with a Fieldwork tech person. After all that I never received payment for my participation. My first email seeking payment was ignored. My subsequent email seeking payment was answered saying they had no record of my participation. Get paid money to sit in a room and talk about new products? Tell me where to sit and I'll chat about anything! I've been to a few focus groups now, so let me break down how this thang works. First, you register on their site with your email and phone number. Then, every couple of days, you'll receive an email inviting you to take an online survey. It's usually just a few questions and if they like your answers, they'll give you a call. Don't worry if you miss it, but make sure you return their voicemails asap. The focus groups usually fill up fast - hey everybody likes easy money! Once they call back, they'll just go over some of your answers for confirmation and then you'll be scheduled. They'll also send you an email with all the details. Focus groups usually last anywhere from 1-2 hours, depending on how fast it goes. Sometimes when they get all the opinions or ideas they need, they'll just wrap it up. Luckily on my last visit here, they had purposely overbooked and I was the extra person. They just won't call your name when time comes and will instead hand you a check. This location is right off of 53/290 and by Streets of Woodfield, plus they have free parking in their garage! I'm used to focus groups downtown, where you'll have to pay for street or validated parking. The waiting room was very clean, with plenty of seating and magazines to read. If I could put a negative star, I would. This company seems cool but let me tell you my story and you decide if it's still cool. My daughter participated in the creator's study. She was supposed to post something online for 5 days and then she was supposed to have an interview after that to be fully paid. As you already know from previous reviews, nobody answers the phone, even if they send you to email please call urgently, nobody will answer and in the best-case scenario, they will send you another urgent email in a week. So, the interview has been rescheduled several times, and finally, it was confirmed for Tuesday. On Saturday, I received a call and they asked me to change the interview date for an extra $25. So, we agreed to change and we logged in Wed nobody was there. My daughter spent 45 minutes waiting ( she is a minor and she never had this experience before) and then she gave up. So, in a week we received the first part of the money. I forgot to mention that when I sent emails and told them what happened nobody replied. A few days ago I got an email and they threaten the collectors if I don't return the money that they sent me accidentally. I plan to file a claim against this company because it is very disrespectful and it really abusive. Please feel free to comment as you know we can get what we were promised. They deserve a "No Star" rating. Yes, I did the online questions. I was called a couple of days later and asked the exact same questions. I was told to come in that I qualified. This place is by no means close by. After getting up quite early and rushing over. I was lost. I called for directions, gave my name, and was given them. After a very long walk from parking to the office. (I am handicapped, and it is difficult to get around) I was told that I was not in this study group! What? You could have at least offered me a cup of coffee because breakfast was to be given for the session, and why didn't you tell me so while I was still in the car, so I didn't have to walk so very far? So unprofessional. I have done surveys my whole life in the past years for fieldworks Ohare and I never had a bad experience with them. I can see by other reviews, that I am not the only one that got the run around. Save yourself some time and self-respect don't do any surveys for these amateurs. Horrible customer service. Called me about a study while I was at work and I asked them to call back the next week on Monday. Not only was this not noted but they continued to call me 8 times, and leave 8 voicemails within 2 days. When I asked them to please call me back on Monday, again, the person got extremely rude and said they could just take me off the list. (That's not what I was asking, but if you're going to be rude, fine.) Even if I hadn't asked them to call me back, calling 8 times for one study is ridiculously obsessive and unnecessary. For a non-employed person like me, the opportunity to be paid for my opinions is irresistible. Let's face it, even my own family and friends don't care this much about what I think. Get on the database and once in a while you'll get a call asking questions about your preferences for certain products. If you pass the test, you get invited to come in and talk -- usually with a small group -- about products or services that may or may not get to the market. This morning I got paid $100 for two hours' work, though it took me about 40 minutes to drive each way. They must have moved recently, because the address is now 425 N. Martingale Road, Schaumburg. Sadly enough Fieldwork structures the're incentive payouts to only be sent once the client has completed there entire body of research, not once your responsibility has been met. I'm being told now possibly told maybe sometime in August. If you have and option as a participant for company running groups avoid this outfit at all costs. I called back several times and either (1) got no answer, (2) got transferred to someone named Gwen for a garage door focus group but she never answered, (3) got transferred to a voicemail box that wasn't set up. I was interested in participating, and I was returning their call, but no one seemed to know what was going on nor were they able to properly answer my call. Fieldwork is the best damn market research center around. I've been in so many studies, I can't even count the fat stacks of cash that I've accumulated. I would never have been able to afford my several Ferraris that are parked in my luxurious mansion right now if it wasn't for Fieldwork! I've done studies on all types of subjects from anal leakage to toasters (That was a weird one). My only complaint with Fieldwork is that they pay way too much for participating in their studies!
