I recently moved up here fron San Antonio, and while I knew that finding good BBQ wpuldn't be hard to do I didn't think the same way when it came to Mexican food.. that is until my son's mom took me to Fiesta Azteca. Right away, as soon as I walk in it felt very familiar, like I was walkibg into any number of authentic taquerias in South Texas. It also smelled incredible in there. Quickly I saw what I wanted to eat: Chile Colorado, which is slowly stewef pork in a delicious red chili sauce. It was one of those dishes I fell in love with when I first had it at El Coyote in LA. Service was very friendly and prompt, and the prices were reasonable. There's a lot more on the menu that I will definitely try. I am looking forward to returning. Value for money Food was substandard, prices outrageous, and the hospitality was as sparce as the portion sizes, not to mention the wait, being as we were the only people there, it was unbelievable. When the bill arrived and we were actually confused Rincon Tarasco is 2 minutes up Raytown Rd as you hit 350, you'll get twice the food for half the price of this place and it's savory, fast, authentic and the presentation is exceptional. Fiesta is a pretty decent Mexican joint in KC. Probably the best I've tried and boy have I been trying. I've tried a couple dishes here but the standout for me is the regular ground beef tacos... not sure why but they are so yummy. Visiting on business from Cincinnati, so I thought I'd give this place a try based on the yelp reviews. I'm glad I did! Don't let the exterior fool you, the food speaks for itself! The salsa that accompanied the chips was so delicious! Best I've had a quite some time. Lots of flavor with just the right amount of kick. First off I need to mention that the photos listed here are very old, this interior doesn't look anything like the photos they have posted, its not very inviting at all, I'm thinking they maybe had some water damage and just haven't fixed anything yet the back wall isn't even there anymore as shown in the photos. The young lady who waited on us was so friendly and inviting, she really was selling us the all the food was good. Sigh.. I should have addressed our issues with the food at the time. We were searching for some Mexican food in the Raytown area since we live there on the KC/Raytown line and haven't tried any of the local places this was the place I drove by a lot and thought lets try it out. It just wasn't very good, everything was watery and not very appetizing at all, my partner who's first food love is Mexican went so far as to say that he was grossed out by what was served. I would have to say I wasn't grossed out. However the first sign was the salsa not being very good, it was like a very watery tomato juice with cilantro in it. I ordered the two tacos and burrito and he ordered the chicken chimichanga. Everything was just watery and not very good. The rice was dry and had no flavor and the beans especially were so watery that everything on the plates was sitting in the watery beans when served to us. I have no idea why when I go to restaurants, it's a normality for me to be seated and handed a menu, brought water and often chips and salsa, and no silverware or napkin. I don't have this written across my forehead :"I don't need silverware." I happens so much I write about it on Yelp, every time. I've had 3 check ins in Fiesta Azteca, then, the last, yesterday. We were seated, given the menu, water, chips, salsa, and ordered. There were other people at the tables and I had problems getting the waiter's attention about the need for napkins and silverware. Our food was brought to us. It was kind of good. I generally like tamales, and these only fine, not great, and over priced. We were finally brought napkins et al. We ate, and decided to order $3.50 margaritas. The margaritas were in glasses about 2 shot glasses tall. Not great. I've had margaritas at Fiesta before but they weren't this small. If I had wanted a sample, I would've hit up the Bailey's girl at Hy-vee. We waited forever for our check. They weren't THAT busy. We got out our cash, waited some more, and finally were able to leave with them knowing we paid. I am never in the area, and won't be back when I am. read more

Dining with wife and child on father's day, this place started off on the right foot. The greeter who turned out to be our server made my daughter and its feel immediately welcome. I ordered the taco salad because I like a bowl I can eat. Wife ordered fish tacos. This being a Mexican restaurant, if course my daughter ordered a corn dog. The white queso dip was really good. The chips are light and airy. The server with a great sense of humor brought the corn dog out early. I like when they care enough to get the kid food out quickly. Putting food in front of my child triggers the potty mechanism so we visited the restrooms which were very clean and well stocked. Taco salad is very good as were the fish tacos. Me personally, I'm not a fan. The food was somewhat bland and the salsa was tasteless. This is a little hole in the wall spot and I tried it because those are usually pretty good....diamond in the rough, if you will. Also, because the rating wasn't so terrible. I got the chicken enchiladas with beans & rice and my son wanted a chicken quesadilla. He enjoyed his quesadilla but neither of us ended up using the salsa after tasting it. We are HUGE chips & salsa fans so this part is always as important as the food. I did like that they give you chips with your meal but without yummy salsa...I am a refried beans lover and ALWAYS looking for good ones...these were not good at all!! One of the girls was a little rude but the other girls were pretty okay. It's a small resturaunt that is housed in an old drive in building. The food is delicious. Have been here twice so far in the last 2 weeks. Their chimichanga, enchiladas and tamales are delicious! Family-owned and operated, with the owner and his family just moving into Raytown to live this Memorial Day week... you KNOW they are investing their future in this community. This restaurant shows that dedication. Not fancy in its interior, even rather ordinary, but that's not the reason you come to this place. If you want fancy decor and dazzling interiors, go to On The Border. But what you pay for is the food you enjoy eating. This is IT. Andreas, the owner, and his wife Maria are in charge and they love having you enjoy their food. Andreas' cousin is one of the cooks, and he says he's one of the best in the world. I believe him from just tasting the amazing fajitas platter I got... so much food I had to take half of it home, so that's a tremendous value. I took my mother out to eat the other evening while I was in town visiting from the west coast, and had found this place on Yelp while preparing to come here for my trip. The one review that was here convinced me to try it, especially since it's 3 minutes from Mom's place. As a senior citizen, it's a nice short drive to a fabulous, affordable meal that she can enjoy twice... half there, take half home. Andreas' brother Augustine was a fabulous waiter, always attentive with refills of water, Coca-Cola and iced tea. Always brought whatever we needed right away. Even late at night when we ate, they didn't try to close down and rush us out... but allowed us to soak it all in and enjoy the food and aural ambiance, with the non-ear-shattering authentic music serenading us as we dined. Food? The chips were warm, thin and almost to die-for. Great salsa to go with it. And they brought a second basket right away. Mom LOVED that. Her two tacos and two cheese enchiladas, with rice and beans, was so good she ate it ALL! And my mother is a picky eater, slim, and doesn't really eat much of anything... this she dove into and relished the entire hour we were there. Easily the best Mexican food, maybe one of the best restaurants, in the Lee's Summit area. From the chips and salsa, to the fajitas, to the margarita, everything is spot on. Being the veg that I am, I ordered the vegetable fajitas with a housemade red sauce smothered on top. They were not at all greasy, as veg fajitas so often are. But, the red sauce. Holy shit. It was this spicy, in your face, savory deliciousness that I would seriously drink out of a glass. Easily the highlight of the entire night. SO GOOD. We noticed Fiesta Azteca opening in the old Pizza Shoppe space a few months ago and thought we'd give it a try. The first time we went in, we ordered one of the combos. The food was good but not outstanding. Andres came over to say hello, and mentioned that he wanted to give us something to try from the left side of the menu. He brought out some of his steak tips and they were phenomenal. After trying the steak tips, my advice about Fiesta Azteca is to only order from the left side of the menu or the back! This is where you'll find some truly authentic Mexican dishes. The chipotle steak and chicken are both great -- get it with corn tortillas and make some little tacos. The carnitas are also very good and crisp on the outside. The cheese dip is nothing spectacular -- skip that and enjoy the salsa or try guac instead. Their margaritas are yummy too! OKAY..... this is Really Good News for Raytown and I want to spread the joy. Fiesta Azteca has come back to town and, if our dinner last night is any indication, they are as good as ever! A Raytown icon has closed (Jim G's) but Fiesta Azteca moved into the location following a bright, festive paint job, outdoors and indoors and a bit of retrofitting to change to a full food-service concept. This new version of an old favorite is ready to add excellent Mexican food to once again delight Raytown diners. The menu can be imposing with lots and lots of choices. Last night I asked the owner, Andres, to make a selection for me. He chose a very good grilled chicken breast covered with a mildly spicy cream sauce accented with melted cheese and served with generous sides of rice and refried beans and warm flour tortillas. Hubby ordered a beef enchilada platter with beans and rice. Both dishes were full of fresh flavor. Complimentary baskets of chips and bowls of salsa reminded me of why I missed making frequent visits to their former Raytown location. My wife and I went here on a Saturday night based on the great Yelp reviews. There were hardly any other patrons at 6pm, so that should have been a sign. Service was good and it's a nice place. Salty salsa, flavorless rice, and funky tasting margaritas make this place a no-go. The only redeeming quality- the fajita meat was moist and tender. I came across this place on Yelp and saw over 20 reviews with five stars and decided I must try. I brought my mom here on Mother's Day. They are super friendly and they provide great service. The salsa, chips, food and margaritas are absolutely delicious! My only complaint is that we ordered a half pitcher of margaritas ($17.95, maybe a bit on the expensive side, but well worth it) and our server didn't advise us that a full pitcher is only $5 more. Had dinner with my wife here tonight. This is the 'real' deal when looking for Mexican fare. I had the Tamales dinner and it was without a doubt the best Tamales in town. Based on the note in the menu, Tamales are not always available, so I felt like I got lucky. They were truly awesome. Wife had the chicken burrito and taco combo and lauded it as the best she's had too. Definitely will be on our heavy rotation list. Don't be deceived by the exterior. It's in a converted original design Sonic from the late 60's or early 70's. After that it was Jim G's, a Raytown staple for decades too.
