This has to be one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever eaten at, and it's easily near the top of my all-time favorites. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavor, tasted incredibly fresh, and you could tell they take pride in what they serve. I really appreciated the emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible--it gave the food a freshness and quality that really stood out. The biggest compliment I can give them is that our daughter cleaned her entire plate, which almost never happens when we eat out. That's a huge win in our book. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the entire experience felt like a local restaurant that genuinely cares about its food and its customers. If you're anywhere nearby and looking for outstanding Mexican food, don't pass this place up. We'll absolutely be making it a regular stop whenever we're in the area. read more

Two entrees that I love to try across the Des Moines Area are cheesy nachos with jalapeños and Al Pastor street tacos. Fiesta has very good nachos, but need to marinate their pork more so the "Al Pastor" street tacos are soft, tender and very tasty - my portion was a little tough even though the chopped grilled pineapple was good. Stopped in with a friend for a quick drink and snack, so we ordered margaritas and queso for our chips. We also sat at the bar where they had a few screens with sports on, including the hawkeye game. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered the original margaritas because it indicated that it came with the shaker, but I didn't expect the shaker to be completely full in addition to my glass already being filled. The first few sips seemed a little weak and watery, but I preferred it to some where it tastes too much like sour mix. Given we came for just a quick drink, I think we could have split the margarita. And I wonder if we could have ordered an extra shot of tequila to go in it (or maybe add ourselves). Our server checked in a couple of times and brought extra chips. We have been wanting to try Fiesta since a friend we met at a pool party who recently moved to Iowa from Mexico suggested it as the most authentic Mexican food in the Des Moines area. We decide to go there last night after Mass and this place is legit...very good food and atmosphere drives it to our new favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. We started with a Classic Margarita (see picture) and Mezcal Paloma (see picture) with the delicious Chips & Salsa (see picture). The chips and salsa were very good, with the salsa being of the 'blended' variety with small pieces and not runny - and just a hint of sweetness to go with the spice. The margarita was also good - a little on the sweet side, but a generous pour, with several refills from the decanter. The Mezcal Paloma wasn't my favorite, but I'm a bit of a snob in this area - preferring certain Mezcals and having a personal favorite Mezcal Paloma Recipe. The food was definitely the highlight of our stop though - in every way living up to the recommendation of our new friend. We ordered a Burrito Bowl (see picture) and a new dish called the Birria Quesatacos (see picture). Both of them were absolutely delicious - fresh, great flavor and wonderful presentation! The Quesatacos were very unique, with the queso (cheese) fried onto the inside of the tortillas and great topping sauces. In addition, we really enjoyed the consome (chicken soup) broth - it was very tasty and reminded us a bit of the secret sauce in Skyline Chile. If you enjoy Mexican food, you owe it to yourself to stop at Fiesta Mexican Restaurant - you won't be sorry when you do! My friends and I love Fiesta!! We all moved to Des Moines last summer and did a lot of googling before trying a local Mexican restaurant. We have been consistently happy with Fiesta's margaritas, food, and service. They recently changed their menu and the chicken fajitas have gotten even better. This place was packed on a Thursday evening! We had never been here before but when we saw the parking lot packed we knew this place had to be good. Every table but 1 was full when we walked inside to the hostess stand but luckily it was just 2 of us dining so we were able to snag that last open table for dinner. Chips and salsa were brought to us at our table with individual salsa dishes. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. We ordered margaritas on the rocks to start. The margs are delicious and *cheap* for what we are used to ($4 each on that Thursday we went). We got guacamole appetizer and I thought it was good for a more authentic style Mexican restaurant. They put some cheese on the guac... I liked it! I got the Mexicana enchiladas which was the variety filled enchiladas with red sauce. I wasn't a huge fan of their red sauce. It was a dark red sauce with a strong flavor that it overpowered the filled enchiladas. It didn't come with rice or beans on the side which I didn't realize. My husband got the steak tacos. Those were delicious and came with a side soup to dip the tacos in. They lost a star for me because of the way the restaurant is set up. They need a "double door" system in the front. Anytime someone would come in or leave the restaurant, a FREEZING cold breeze would move across the whole restaurant. We had to eat with our coats on. This is my local go-to place for Mexican and Tex-Mex eats that offer a party for your tastebuds. They're fast, very friendly and offer some SW North American options as well as the Central American dishes like I would get as a kid. The chips and tortillas are served warm unlike a lot of places I've been around here, and the portions are large without being too much. The staff are pleasant and observant, offering a lot of help for those with restrictive diets, too. And as I've already mentioned, they're fast and very friendly. Running a smooth, steady flow of business can sometimes look and feel chaotic, but not Fiesta's staff! My thoughts were confirmed with the chips and salsa that came out first; definitely disappointing as these were below average quality. The quality really started to pick up with the margarita. I ordered a marg with Don Julio and a tajin rim. The glass used was large, but it was mostly full of ice. The burrito California caught me off guard. My brother in law eats here often. He invited us to try it out. Jan of 2021 - Keeping in mind that the pandemic is still going on. All the staff are wearing masks . The chips, salsa, and queso dip were all very yummy. We put in our orders and the food came out insanely fast. My husband ordered the California burrito and I ordered a small order or fresh guacamole. The guacamole was great. I cant believe I nearly ate the whole thing on my own. Could taste the cilantro and i think there was onion in it, so yummy. The giant burrito was with carnitas and 3 different sauces on top. It came out piping hot. I stole some of the burrito and smothered it with the guac and enjoyed every bite. It was really good. We also enjoyed the fantastic margarita. The over all experience was great. The waiter was great. The place was getting packed! We finished up and headed out to see a line waiting to get in the door. We hope to be back soon. read more

I was having family at my house for Sunday Bruch and didn't feel like cooking. Fiesta Mexico's website said they did catering and since I knew their food was good, decided to check it out. So glad I did. Vincente had his team make exactly what I wanted and it was delicious! He let me pick it up before they opened. When I got it home, the family went wild! The place was advertised as the best Mexican food in WDM, which it may just be, but I can't say that means it's good Mexican food. Full disclosure I don't love the Mexican food with all the sauces on it. So I tried the fajitas and and they said that they did not have red bell peppers but my partners dish clearly had them on it. The fajita were swimming in a huge pool of oil and grease. It was really quite disgusting. The chips and salsa were ok but the salsa had no heat at all. Kinda started like crushed up tomatoes. What a wonderful place. Happened to be in town to go to Sam's and hubby and I decided to check out this place, the parking lot was full, usually a good sign. We were not disappointed! First the place looks very nice. The mural over the kitchen window is amazing, kudos to the artist! The wait staff was friendly & attentive. I just loved the atmosphere. The bathrooms were nice and clean. Now the food. I had their lunch special of two chicken tacos and refried beans. I'll be honest, I judge Mexicans restaurants on how good their refried beans are, cuz if you can't get such a staple right, then I'm disappointed. I was definitely not disappointed. Not only were their chicken tacos seasoned to perfection and juicy, but the refried beans were flavorful and so creamy! Way to make an impression guys! I loved their open kitchen, as a prep cook myself, I love watching other people cook and put things together in the kitchen, the staff really seemed to flow. I have nothing bad to say about this place. I will definitely be going back to try something new! I'm always excited when I find an authentic Mexican restaurant in Iowa. I went for a second time. my friend has great things to say about it, so I thought let's go. I wanted the shrimp tacos again. the menu stated it came with one sauce. last time I ordered it it came with two sauces. the server helped me to determine what sauce it was that I wanted and let me try samples. it was chipotle mayo sauce. they are grilled shrimp and trust me they don't skimp on the fillings. I was stuffed. my husband had chili Colorado, he enjoyed it. it had serious heat to it. The server was great and I appreciated all the time he spent helping me determine the sauce. read more

The guacamole here is a MUST it is one of the best in there area we think. We have visited this location a few times and it is always busy and the staff is always very attentive and pleasant! We have yet to have a bad experience and are so happy to have a wonderful Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. Located on Grand, Fiesta is a solid Mexican restaurant. Food is a cut above the standard Mexican fare. As I have commented before generally Mexican food is a 5 on a 10 scale.
