You can purchase on of their unique wigs or have a custom wig made. They have solid colors or can spray what colors you would like. I know, I know. The world is ending and we all must be safe. I promise you, I limit my exposure as well as those around me, but I can also promise you that when I see I am the only customer around Fifi Mahony's, then I am definitely going to walk inside, especially if I'm around just a week before Mardi Gras! No, I hadn't planned on buying a new wig, thankyouverymuch, but I love scouting around and seeing what they have. As I've mentioned, I was the only customer there, and with three staff, I feel they may have been a bit bored. So, of course I decided to have a seat and try on a couple, and obviously you can't leave without that one that looks SO CUTE on you. (DUH). The staff was wonderfully attentive, paid attention to ideas that I liked, and I walked away with something perfect for me right then and there. Additionally, if I had more money to spend, I would've gotten a new headdress/ headband as well. Next time in, for sure. I love how colorful and creative everything is in the store, and they're making sure everyone is being cautious and safe, so you can roll in and walk out looking fabulous, too! Definitely worth the stop, but even more so, definitely worth the price. What a way to get a souvenir that is truly New Orleans in its essence, and something I'll actually end up wearing and using. When I walked in, I loved the bright, colorful, and vintage ambiance, but was taken aback by the number of options and styling. Well I ain't dead from covid, all the concerned comments got me thinking that I should write a review. So I am reviewing this wig shop that I went to at Mardi Gras. This is Mardi Gras 2020, the Mardi Gras to end all Mardi Gras? The cursed Mardi Gras?  The Mardi Gras the end of the world, like the restaurant perhaps? Either way, I've been getting a lot of use out of this wig, and I have to say it's turned me into a fan. Excellent quality, easy to style and care for. All throughout my trip, and it was a long trip, the trip of a lifetime, I have no regrets except that left that City at all. But all throughout my trip, whenever I said my wig came from Fifi Mahony's, everyone oooohed and ahhhed and said "Oh you went to the GOOD place". I got a blue and black ombre wig that suits me so well most people think it's my natural hair. Sometimes I just wear it around the house just to brighten up my day. This wig is more than just a wig, which anyone who's into wigs will tell you. But since it's my first this is a new discovery for me, and so I am sharing it with you, who may perchance be looking to buy your first too. And it will change your life. You may have great hair. You may think it's itchy. You may wonder how it will stay on your head. Well let me tell you, all of those questions are answerable. Not by me, go ask FiFi's! It's an easy way to transform a costume into a performance. It's a fast way to make yourself into a character. You can anonimize yourself, but also makeg yourself a staple, a signature of every environment you walk into. And if you go to Fifi Mahony's, they will sit you in chair and ask you about your wants, needs, and desires. Feel free to wax poetic about your drama, your insecurities. They will put them to rest, and place on your head a crown, a jewel, that makes you feel as you walk out that door, that you are the queen, or king, of the world. I don't know how they've been doing during quarantine, I don't know that you can sit in the chair yet, but I wanted to take the time to leave them some love. So can I review a place I've never been too but bought a wig in a silent auction at a breast cancer fundraiser? All I know is that Fifi Mahony's reputation stands on it's own! Every person I know raves about this place for their absolutely fabulous wigs! And they were totally right! I bought a gorgeous hot pink wig with a butterfly and other accoutrements in it! My best girlfriend's sorority alumni chapter had a breast cancer which is close to my heart bc my Mom is a survivor but my aunt (her baby sister) didn't make it. Can I say this wig was so much fun that multiple friends of mine and ladies I didn't know wanted to try it on and take pictures. I was more than happy to oblige! If your travels take you there during Mardi Gras, it's really a must and should be your first stop. Most of the smaller hair accessories were sold out, but I managed a handmade flower hair accessory that coordinated my wig for $30. The synthetic wigs are around 40-60, so prices are fair for being in the French Quarter. They don't want any pictures taken in the store, so they get cranky if they see you with your phone out. Went in to this shop with my boyfriend and my grandmother on 03Oct2021 at approximately 1:00pm. My boyfriend has been purchasing wigs from this shop past few months. He has been raving about this shop since we moved to Nola. For weeks he's been telling me about this rainbow wig. So yesterday we decided to go in and buy it. He was overly excited about the wig. My grandmother had cancer and her hair never really recovered. So she was excited as well to find a wig that actually fits her and looks natural. An employee name unknown. He was a male, build was tall, and thin. He had green glitter or makeup on his eyes. My boyfriend got the wig he wanted picked it up and was super excited no one had bought it. He put it on and he was sold. He was just waiting on someone to come around and help us. This individual walked up did not ask any question or even try to understand the client Standing in front of him. He was extremely rude taking the wig. scolding my boyfriend for trying it on. I don't know if they make commission but he missed out. I immediately talked him out of buying it. My grand mother needed no convincing. she was shocked About the treatment. How fun is this store? Everything a girl could want. I've been in but too shy to really shop. This time on our way down Royal Street after a few adult beverages, I drug the kids in here. If you buy a wig cap you can try on all the wigs you want. So I paid the 5 bucks and had a ball. My son even got in the spirit and tried on an Elvis wig. It was HOT. I offered to buy it for him if he would wear it on our next trip to the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. He declined, but loved the wig cap. I did buy a wig ... I literally wig out every time I walk past the windows, always featuring a couple of new custom wigs to celebrate whatever season we're in. Halloween and Mardi Gras are the top two wig holidays of course, so the gorgeous custom wigs go fast. Pro-tip: if you see one that you must have, go in and grab it immediately as there are no two (custom) wigs alike. They are priced fairly, considering that they are works of art and you are not going to find anything quite like them anywhere else (I've been to many places). In addition to the original wigs they design, they have a huge selection of plain wigs in all of the colors of the rainbow... and then some. I like buying these to save money and also to get creative and festoon with glitter, jewels, flowers... and various ephemera. This is a more affordable option, but I also can't resist their specialty wigs because they are that beautiful. Besides wigs, this store has a superb collection of make-up and accessories (sunglasses, fasteners, boas, false eyelashes) and body glitter that I'm currently obsessed with. They sell out of that quickly, but the color selection is insane! Carnival may be over, but if you're in New Orleans, there's always a reason to stop at Fifi's and get fancy, even if your only special occasion is walking around the French Quarter any given morning or afternoon. read more

I scheduled to get my hair & makeup done for the holidays. The makeup looked very nice. My daughter's hair was precious. My mom's hair was so messed up they had to redo it. My hair was an absolute disaster. It fell down within 20 minutes of me leaving the place. I had to pay an Uber to & from just for them to pin it back up, but it still looks like a hot mess. Fifi Mahony's is the kind of store I expected to patron in New Orleans - and thankfully do! Bought a super hot blue wig with green tips for my "evil mermaid" costume during Halloween which I'm currently trying to figure out a way to finagle into my Mardi Gras get up. While I wish I had the funds to get another one (though it was relatively cheap for the good quality at $45), I think a Fifi wig will have to be my Halloween tradition that transforms itself for Carnival. Also, this is a haven for professional costume (read: drag!) makeup. They carry lines like Bill Nye in bold, bright, shiny and glittery shades. I even got some stage blood for aforementioned costume! They do have a selection cute accessories and jewelry, but a little on the pricey side for costume wear. Check it, ya won't regret it. UPDATE: After writing this review, decided to stop in to Fifi's while wandering the Quarter for Mardi Gras costume inspiration on a beautiful Friday afternoon. I came on a cold Saturday night for my first visit here, walking around the Quarter waiting for a parade to start. I got two ponytails, one long, one short, both close to my natural hair color. They were much nicer than what I have seen at other stores, and are well made. Next visit, I will make a point to have enough time to get a cap to try on some of the wigs. They look like so much fun! They are not cheap, but it is worth the cost, and you are truly getting your money's worth! Wanted a few new hair pieces and some makeup products so decided to go to Fifi Mahoney's. Because of my history with the place in the past as far as selection of products and everyone that worked there was always so nice and helpful, I figured this would be a great experience. Well that was certainly not the case, the place has completely changed. No products, horrible wigs, no real selection, and very lackluster service is all they offer here now. Again, as much as I have always enjoyed Fifi Mahoney's-- unfortunately this encounter was horrible. The sales person was very non attentive. He was wandering around and seemed very annoyed when we asked for help. When I asked questions he was short as if either he didn't want to be there or didn't want us there, or both. Nevertheless we still decided to pay the $5 to try on a few hair pieces. Upon checking a few out, he was still so rude and unhelpful, I decided to pull the plug on the entire experience and tell me fiance we were leaving. Simply put, like many things in New Orleans have deteriorated since Katrina, it is obvious Fifi Mahoney's has sadly become one of them. Fun wig place in Nola. We werent able to use their makeup artist as she was out of town, but they were nice enough to recommend a salon next door which did an amazing job! (Diversions). An absolute must for anyone traveling to New Orleans. I mean, a store that has amazing make-up, jewelry, AND the highest quality wigs I've seen? Just plan on coming here and spending hours going through all the fun treasures. I got a wig here in dark blue that is the exact same haircut as mine, and it's such good quality, that whenever I wear it, people think it's my real hair.
