Good was excellent. My daughter and I split the Mexican omelet with hashbrowns and rye toast. Glad we shared as it was huge. My husband had the Porky Pig omelet. He said he would definitely get it again. The Don had biscuits and gravy. Platter full of biscuits and gravy. He kept saying he was full but kept eating because it is "just so good!" Light crowd here when I arrived just after noon on a Thursday. I ordered a "gyro salad"--basically a small greek salad topped with gyro meat. A pretty common diner choice for me. The gyro meat was good, well seasoned and tender. Lettuce was fresh and crisp, though could have been cut a little finer. I'm used to chunky ingredients in salads, but usually lettuce isn't one of them. Dressing didn't have a lot of zing to it. Was a little surprised the salad was as small as it was since 5th Wheel has a reputation for large portions. The omelettes that came to the table next to me could have been measured in square feet. Went for breakfast and asked for my bacon to be a little bit more crispy. When the waitress brought it back she said in a cocky voice that the cook said that's the crispiest he could get it. I said thank you that is was good. She then went to the cook and apologized to him. Then said to the other waitress that she has seen me there before and that I'm picky. She NEVER once came back to the table for a coffee refill or to ask if everything was good. Then when she brought the bill she said how was everything. I said that I wanted more than one cup of coffee. She said well I was in the bathroom it's not like I'm not doing something. Then proceeded to pour more coffee in my cup let it overflow all over. Needless to say I didn't drink the coffee and the only tip she got was a message that said treat your customers better. NEVER again. read more

The Fifth Wheel has been a staple off of Telegraph Road since I was a little girl. They have been known for their large portions since they are a 'truck stop' style restaurant. By truck stop I mean greasy and filling! My breakfast choice for the morning was a very large breakfast bagel sandwich. What I like is that the sausage is cooked into the egg so it doesn't slide out trying to keep all of the layers inside. The hash browns were a little less desirable being almost burned on the outside and very mushy on the inside. The french toast & ham that my husband ordered is your basic staple on any breakfast menu. It's what you'd expect with nothing more or less. It's not my first choice for breakfast options in the area. It's your average diner that's just ok. read more

I enjoyed having lunch here. It was an easy access while travelling north on Telegraph Road. Getting in when travelling south calls for some caution. It is not bad at all when there is light or no traffic. The food was very well made. I had the Gyro platter and enjoyed it immensely. The Pepsi was fresh and bubbly. The dining area is kept neat and clean the individual tables are kept up very well. The waitress was very helpful and the kitchen staff was clearly engaged. The food was made up quickly but there was no sacrifice in quality. I especially liked the side of cucumber dressing I was provided. The Gyro was wrapped in a unique way that I remember from street vendors in New York. You can eat nearly the whole thing without have to fold down the paper or perform any special gyrations (pun intended) to get to the meat of the matter (there's another one - pun, that is). The view is restful at the window tables of a wooded area across the highway. This is a great place to stop along this route heading into or out of Monroe. Truck food mostly delicious fast friendly waitress slang the Coffee pot keeping the diners happy. Seen a article from site only in Michigan day before we made it late Saturday afternoon. She had a Porky Pig Omelet great name just OK, order of pan fried Kielbasa absolutely delicious. Daughter had Penne Pasta in Alfredo sauce topped with Chicken n Broccoli. Me order of Biscuits and Gravy looking great sadness be the flavor store bought hard biscuits just don't get it. The winner Heavenly Hash loaded with all the Meats, Taters, Cheese and Smothered with Gravy WOWED mega greatness. Wanted something different somewhere different. Decided to come here and have the veal cutlet with mashed potatoes and corn. The meal came with corn salad and I had a bowl of the feed barley soup. If I had added a little pepper to the soup, everything would have been perfect. My wife had the southern omelette with potatoes and toast. Everything came fast and Amy was great as our waitress. Located in no-man's land between Flatrock and "The Y", the 5th Wheel caters a lot to the inhabitants of the many trailer parks dotting the area. Daily specials board, along with typical diner/truckstop fare. Old and beat up, but fairly clean as these kind of places go. Service is hit and miss... and likely better if you're a regular. Randomly stopped here to cure a hangover and wow. Totally blown away at how busy this place was considering it looked like a total pit of a restaurant on the outskirts of town. Always have had great service but today not so much. I over heard a patron being waited on before me being told that they were out of soup for the day but the cook, Tony intervened and said he would make more. When the waitress waited on me she told me they were out of soup for the day. When I told her that I heard Tony say he was making more she said that he was making a cup just for him. OK, no problem right. Now get this the next two patrons got waited on and also ordered soup and received their order. Wow, what kind of people they got working there. We have tried this place a few times and each time the service was going downhill. We decided to give it one more chance today and that is the last chance they get. We asked for an extra minute with the menu and then she took forever to come back for the order. My husband had an omelet which was nice in size but the potatoes were overdone. I had a half order biscuit and gravy and the gravy had so much pepper in it that it was overpowering. I told the waitress when she asked how everything was and because nobody else (the regulars) had anything bad to say my opinion apparently did not matter. I'm sure we were talked about the minute we walked out the door. From the time we walked in we felt like outsiders (especially as the regulars started rolling in). The waitress only dealt with us when she had to but easily chit chatted with everybody else. I can honestly say that regardless of how close they may be we will NOT go in there again; we will gladly drive out of our way for better service. read more
