Wasn't impressed when the cook asked for the cheese back that he'd given me. I ordered allot of food...he gave me mozzarella cheese with my tortilla soup, when the waitress came back I asked if I could have some shredded sharp cheese, she came back and said cook wanted the other cheese back. Online the price was posted as $7.49 it was clearly not in house made thick rye bread, and for almost $20 there was not enough meat to satisfy me for that price. It was soft and soggy after a 10 minute drive home from pick up. Wonderful home taste in their food!! We ordered the tortilla soup, turkey & avocado sandwich with onion rings and a Mexican skillet with egg. The tortilla soup was the best we've ever had! We have been here twice, ordered breakfast the first time and dinner the next. The chicken pot pie alone is worth the drive from Ann Arbor. It is beaks and wings above anyone else's and is not hidden by disgusting ladles of gravy like at Harvest Moon in Pittsfield Township (yuk!). A little bit of redemption one year at a time. Pipers has been a staple in the Flat Rock area for as long as I can remember. After many years away, my first return back wasn't as pleasant as I remembered. With much apprehension, I came back a year later to meet up with a friend for lunch. Thankfully it was much improved in food and service. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She had such an 'motherly' demeanor that it was hard to not smile. This was a total 180 from my last experience and was very satisfied. My friend and I started off with the Southwest Chicken Eggrolls to share. They had a great mixture inside for a surprising flavor. Plus it didn't hurt they were larger than your average egg roll appetizer which was nice. Going with the mexican food theme, I opted for the Southwest Chicken Salad. It is your typical Mexican salad but on a very large scale. I was surprised at the size of the meal which could be easily shared among two people. The ingredients were fresh and the chicken was grilled perfectly. Who knows... maybe on my next return in a year I will have to up the star rating once again. Awful experience today(Mother'sDay). Never got our food even after waiting for so long. Didn't get drink refills or the water we ordered. The waitress poured hot coffee over a baby, while also pouring water from a pitcher all over the booth seat(we also got yelled at by the owner for using the word "booth") and left saying she would get us a new waitress instead of apologizing. The booster seat was broken and the owner said that she knew it was, did not offer a different one. The owner tried to charge us $54 for food we never got and was very argumentative. It was not busy, there was no reason why the people who came in after us should have recieved their food before us. The owner's reasoning for that was that those people are regulars. Threre used to be individual jukeboxes at each table but have been removed years ago. Meal The 2x2x2 Breakfast with Coffee $4.29 with coffee $1.99. Total cost $6.66 on Friday the 13th too lol Wheelchair Access The restaurant is at street level. Handicap parking is to the side of the restaurant but often you may get lucky and grab a parking space right in front of the door. The solid wood doors are pretty but heavier than most. I have no idea why this place is even slightly popular with the locals. I put it down to there is basically nothing to choose from in the area. Wife and I stopped in at one of our long time favorite restaurants on south Telegraph Rd. We haven't been to Pipers in several years due to the pandemic but were happily surprised to find that nothing had changed from the past. My wife had the "picnic" of fried chicken,sweet melon slice,cole slaw and buttermilk biscuits. I had an old favorite, chicken fried steak, also with melon and mashed potatoes,gravy and biscuits. Well for this morning I thought I would give it a try for a carry out after two failed attempts with zorbas (being renovated and their temp location stopped breakfast at 11) and Leo's is temp closed as well. I specifically asked if they had just one size, full and half. She said they had both full and half. So I asked for a full order! Welp- I got home to open my box to one little biscuit, and a little 4 ounce cup of gravy. Is this serious? Is this biscuits and gravy? No. I wouldn't consider it a half order nor a full. So I call the manager, she asked the server what she rang me up for, of course she claims I told her I wanted a half order. Uh no, I certainly said a full very specifically. So after manager pulls the ticket up the girl rang up a side of biscuit and a side of gravy. So alacarte! How is that a half order of B&G!? A full order was supposed to be four biscuits and I believe she said 12 ounces of gravy. I told her I didn't want to drive back up there and I wanted a refund. She offered me a "credit" for B&G for next time. There won't be no next time, no thanks. She refunded me, and was not very apologetic at all.
