It lacked acidity, spiciness, or any discernible flavor. The saving grace of this dish was at least a generous serving of crab. Perch A failed attempt at a dish. The assembly of the garnishments was confusing, leading to a messy plate where I had to dig around to sample the veggies. The jasmine rice was fine, but I think a brown rice would've served better. Portions are generous, prices are fair for what you get, and the flavours on the dishes that were not deep fried were genuinely good. The braised beef and the seafood pasta in particular stood out. My one real issue, and the reason this is not a five star, is the fryer oil. Anything that came out of the fryer left me feeling heavy and a bit off for the rest of the night, which I have noticed before at places that do not change their oil often enough. The fries and the fried apps tasted fine in the moment but sat poorly afterwards. Not the first time I have had that reaction here, so I do not think it was a one off. If they tightened that up it would make a real difference because the rest of the kitchen clearly knows what it is doing. Service, atmosphere, and portion sizes are all strong. Would come back, but next time I will stick to the grilled and braised dishes and skip the fryer.
