My husband and I received exceptional service for all the restaurants we visited in Vienna over these last few days, it added to the overall wonderful experience of this beautiful city! Unfortunately we could not say the same for our experience in Figar just yesterday. The young waitress on duty was cold and unfriendly, did not reply to my greeting. I would give Figar a 4-5 star rating for food, a 1star for service. They would do well to train their staff to meet the standard of service we experienced in Vienna read more

Hip cafe with a great breakfast menu. We all got various platters. My meditarraean breakfast had all my favorites - fresh sourdough, egg, feta, olives, hummus, and a small green salad - perfect for a healthy and balanced breakfast. At first, I thought that my love for Vinz Feel Free made me like this place so much but it is more than that (though, I do appreciate the grand art on the wall). It is quaint but still big enough for you to enjoy. The food is excellent, the staff is hip and friendly and it is definitely a nice place to meet up with a friend and have a drink and chat. It feels homey, that's what it is. They even do breakfast (I recommend making a reservation because last time I tried getting a table they were fully booked), which I've heard is great (yet to find out). The only down side to this place is that it turns into a "smoking allowed" establishment starting at 5PM, which in my opinion sucks given the size of it. Granted, they do have a good ventilation system but let me ask this.... Is it really necessary to feed the evil in today's society? Can't we just all not smoke (inside) and get along? read more

The interior is a bit hip, with red brick, exposed ceiling vents and some interesting artwork on the walls (the naked women with bird heads was confusing, but maybe I just don't get it). The format of the menu was also a bit confusing as it was a mix of German and English words (I think). The food however, was easy enough to understand yet well done enough to warrant a special mention. I ordered the Working Class Hero and my wife ordered something unpronounceable but equally delicious. On the face of it, my meal was relatively simple: composed of bread, a fried egg, a kebab of sausage and veggies on a bed of beans with a bit of spinach on the side. We opted to sit indoors as it was a bit cool today (there was a brave couple which opted to sit in the limited outdoor seating). I would highly recommend reservations as almost every table had a slip denoting that it was reserved for a later party to arrive at 11 am. I went for brunch and got their eggs with avocado and cottage cheese, which was delicious. I also shared a bowl of müsli with my brother, which was also yummy. It's a great place for breakfast/brunch with a wide range of breakfast foods. The cafe is small and pretty cute with a somewhat rustic/industrial vibe. If you are planning to come in the morning on a weekend, be sure to call and reserve a table beforehand. It's usually quite packed with the usual hipsters you find in the 7th district. Service was average and it's a little bit pricey but if you live around the 7th district and are looking for a nice breakfast place, definitely try it out! read more

Had breakfast here on a chilly morning in their outdoor seating area. The cappuccino was quite good. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was a bit "fancier" than I've tried before. The French toast portion was a bit small for a stand-alone breakfast item. I do not think I would stop in again, but I think it may be better for late night. read more

Figar is a wonderful place in the 7th district. I have been to Figar twice now. It is casual and trendy and reminds me of a few small cafes I have been to in Austin, TX. Both times the staff has been extremely sweet and patient with me, because I speak very poor german, and the food has been delicious. THEY HAVE REAL BACON HERE (which is extremely rare to find in Vienna). I love the small and cozy atmosphere. They serve breakfast until around 4pm which I adore because I could eat breakfast for every meal. They accept both cash and credit cards. read more

Great hipster cafe. Food is absolutely delicious and the quality really shows in the taste and presentation. Coffee was also good but could be a little warmer. The place is a little noisy due to the crowd and echo but still nice and comfortable. The service is friendly and efficient! read more

This place is soooooo HIPSTER. Which I usually hate. And which is typical of the 7th district. But for some reason I like it here. Those waiters are so relaxed and friendly and the coffee was good. Non-smokers should probably stay away from here, because the whole place seems to be for smokers; or maybe I didn't really understand it - perhaps the further space at the bar might be for non-smokers but anyway it is not separated anyhow, so yeah - it stinks. But it's fine with me, an occasional smoker. I didn't try their food though, but it looks good and I will definitely try it out next time! read more

This place is good but they don't give you hearty portions and to have butter with your toast costs .70 Euro as does honey with your tea...condiments that I'm not used to paying for. Frugality ruins it for me! read more

Figar is a trendy narrow cafe/bar/restaurant conveniently located on Kirchengasse. From outside it looks very unassuming. The menu is certainly fusion with a mediterranean flair. I went for brunch with a friend one Sunday and they were jam packed! We had a reservation and they weren't ready for us. Service was distracted and slow and a bit unorganized for being open for a few months now. Luckily the food and coffee for breakfast is great! I highly recommend the advocado/spinat bread and an omelette. This place is non-smoking until 6pm everyday and then turns smoking. They said they tried all non-smoking, but it "didn't work out" . I say try harder, cause this place is too narrow to be filled with smoke. I would never go back for dinner or drinks because of that, but I will be back for breakfast or lunch! read more

The menu being in German the waiter helped us by explaining what he had and gave us the BEST recommendation ever with the breakfast burger and let me order a plate that wasn't in the menu cause I love their sausages so much! Great service and food. Ambiance and service are five stars, the food was simple, but well presented. Great atmosphere, and lots of menu choices offering both rich flavors and healthy options. We had a simple but delightful brunch. Ordered a dish that included fresh avocado, soft-boiled egg (boiled to perfection), a bit of organic yogurt with fresh fruit and muesli, lentils, vegetables and hearty bread. My husband ordered the Mate tea which was sooooo good. I don't normally like mate and it was so tasty that I almost drank his entire thing. The coffee was strong and had body. The hummus was creamy and delicious except it could have used a bit more seasoning (maybe olive oil, salt and/or lime), it was a tad bit bland though the texture and presentation was fantastic. Unfortunately the only dish we would not come back for, is the French toast. Priced at an affordable 5 euros, the sweet french toast was dry and boring in both texture, and taste. The service was fantastic, the food was good, and the ambiance clean, pleasant and creative. They also offer cocktails. I would definitely return. read more

So we did not realize how packed breakfast/brunch places are on a Sunday morning in Vienna! Apparently, wherever you want to go, you should probably make a reservation. After our second failed attempt to dine and after some walking around, we found this place and crossed our fingers that they would be able to seat us. The ladies who greeted us said if we waited a little bit, they can squeeze us in. There was a gentleman that seemed annoyed that we were there without a reservation. We waited only about 10 minutes before we were seated. They did not have an English menu, so one of the ladies had to explain what items were. They were very busy, so she was a bit rushed in trying to explain things to us, so I felt like I just needed to pick something quickly. She geared us toward the more "English style" breakfasts of benedicts, so that's what I went with. My husband chose a type of scramble with sausage. Both plates were good. The portions are not very large, but they were enough for a breakfast. Overall it was a decent experience and the food seemed fresh. read more
