Came here on a Sunday based on a friends recommendation. The restaurant is Ina building thay looks like a ship right on the water. They were fully booked but the hostess found us a table for two. Let me tell you- this place is spectacular. They staff is delightful- the coffee and hot chocolate had me singing with joy. Really cool location right on the Donau canal with ample outdoor seating with pretty good healthy options; bring a book or a lot of friends when you come, and definitely dont come hungry, because the wait is unbelievable. They might want to consider hiring a few extra waiters during the summmertime. The espresso macchiatto was actually the worst espresso I have ever tasted, including those instant ones you can buy in a grocery store. The fruit juices are much better and I would actually highly recommend those. We waited a other half an hour for the waiter to take our food order and ultimately 45 mins for the food to come out. The vegan burger was actually pretty delicious, although slightly cold by the time it made its way to us. Overall, this could be a really awsome place if only they hired a few more people. read more

Came here to get breakfast in the afternoon and was pleasantly surprised! Great ambience, great view, especially if the weather is nice. The place is pretty casual and trendy with a lot of young people and very hip waters. It would definitely be a great brunch locale for a group of friends. Motto am Fluss's restaurant is generally considered pretty expensive but I'd say their cafe has pretty average prices in comparison to other nice lunch places in the city. I ordered their scrambled eggs with toast a guacamole, which was delicious. My mom had their burger, which was delicious as well. 10/10 would recommend it; it easily rivals Weinschenke's renowned burgers. Although we didn't have dessert, I got a view of their mouthwatering dessert vitrine and will definitely back for some coffee and cake some other day. read more

Would be 2 stars based on food but staff takes the rating to 3. Had the cheese burger which was recommended. It was very dry and overdone. The wedges that accompanied it were good. Maybe this is touristy but it worked for us. We were looking for dinner options and this was the most interesting spot around. It didn't meet our desire for traditional Austrian / German food but they had some interesting fusion / vegetarian choices. It was perfect. Outdoor seating on the Danube at sunset. The food was delicious from my apricot zucchini curry to the chantrelle gnocchi and finally the chocolate berry tart. The server was very nice but appeared to be spread thin.... She ran. Great place to get a melange and desserts. We got a slice of motto cheesecake and a slice of their version of sachertorte (they call it sclachertorte). We went with a large group and they had a 2 nice long tables set up for us. It was a nice view of the river and the day was beautiful. The ladies taking care of us were nice. read more

Two stars because the food is decent and the ambiance is good. Would rate lower without these redeeming factors. The service was very poor. The table beside us sat down after and ordered 2 minutes before us and we're able to eat and leave before we even got our food. We waited over an hour for two breakfast sandwiches and fries. The Motto am Fluss Cafe is located directly on the canal just off Schwedenplatz. The place is really busy, so booking is advisable. They offer a small menu for lunch and serve breakfast all day long. I had the filled paprika, overall it was good but a bit to heavy on the oil. Also the dessert was too heavy and not very refined. We were looking for a place to have brunch near the Hundertwasserhause. Preferably cool and hipster but not too expensive, and we found the perfect place! The menu was in German and had no English version but the staff were very helpful and spoke very good English. We thoroughly recommend "All Day Breakfast Sandwich". The place has its own particular style, which makes it a breakfast experience like no other while in a lively environment. There was a Dj too. The cafe is like in a boat terrace and has nice views to the Danube channel. We recommend that you make a booking in advance to avoid disappointments as the place seems quite popular and there aren't many sits. A must in Vienna! Enjoy it :-) read more

We went upstairs to the cafe for a light lunch. We were quickly seated and, unlike in other reviews, received good service (although towards the end of our dining it became slower and less attentive). Ordered the short rib bowl and the chicken salad. Both were exactly as expected, and utterly delicious. Both were not too heavy but filling and tasty. Ordered coffees afterwards. Overall a very enjoyable experience, and a lovely spot overlooking the river. Would definitely recommend. Next time will try the restaurant! read more

Fun, upbeat, on the Danube with beautiful views of the mountains, reasonable prices, youthful energy with good food and wine: this place will go over. I had the Motto burger which was good even by U.S. standards. I would recommend reservations if you'd like to sit outside but the views are pretty good from the inside as well. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would; they were very mean. After trying to park for over 30 minutes, we show up to eat brunch at noon only to find out that the restaurant and cafe are on different floors (same name of place though). After receiving the menu in the restaurant area, we wait until we could grab the waiter to ask for the brunch menu since he had given us the dinner menu. That's when we found out we had to go to the floor above to their cafe to get brunch. The app says it is open for brunch til 1400 which is a normal time but when showing up to the cafe at about 1210, we are told they are closed (even when the place looked pretty full already). When asking what time they closed, the lady who seats you said 1230 (which is way early for brunch but we thought "ok, we can eat quick and get out of there by their closing time" BUT the lady still didn't allow us to be seated even though we still had 20 whole minutes (would've been 30 min if their restaurant and cafe were not separated...that was also weird and confusing). She also put up the "we're closed sign AFTER a little bit after we left, this was very rude and unwelcoming. I would never recommend anyone to go to such a horrible place who thinks brunch ends at 1210 when your app says 1400 and then want you to eat at their very expensive restaurant downstairs after. We yelped and found Cafe Ansari which was a very close walk and very good food. They were very helpful and had an English menu for me and a German menu for my boyfriend. read more
