I hired JG Bay Area Pools in the summer of 2026 to repair cracks in my concrete pool, and it was a…read morecomplete nightmare. Every single step of the process was done incorrectly. Here is exactly what they did wrong: - Incompetent Structural Reinforcement: To stop the crack from moving, they used two pieces of rebar tied together with regular wire. It is basic physics that thin wire cannot hold the movement of a massive concrete pool shell. - Terrible Prep Work: They did not prep the crack properly. Instead of cutting clean angles or a proper backward-angled trapezoid shape to lock the patch mixture in, they just smashed random, uneven holes with a jackhammer. - No Surface Cleaning: They completely skipped surface preparation. They didn't remove the dust, didn't vacuum the debris, and didn't even wait for the standing water to drain before applying the repair mix. - Awful Application: The crew literally slapped the repair mixture into the holes using their bare hands instead of pressing it firmly with a trowel. As a result, there are hollow air pockets underneath the surface. - Uneven Surfaces: The mix was applied completely unevenly. In some areas, it is bulging out and will have to be chipped away before plastering. In other spots, it is too deep, meaning I will have to apply another layer of mix just to keep the final plaster coat from being too thick. This was a completely botched job. Instead of fixing anything, they just damaged and weakened the pool structure.

However, from day two until the completion of the pool, their communication sucked. There were multiple days that they just didn't show up with no notification. We didn't hear anything until we reached out to them wondering why the no show. They claimed they had emergency jobs that pulled them away. We can understand that, but we would have liked a courtesy call. We had a scheduled date to get our house painted thinking that the pool work would be done, but due to all the missed days, it wasn't. So we pushed back the house painting a week. Come to find out, Coral Pool said we SHOULD get the house painted first. If we had better communication from them, we would have known not to push the painting back a week. Most communication was through text, which is fine, but this was not the experience we expected since they were so easy to work with in the beginning. Ultimately, the pool looks beautiful and everything seems to be running fine. I am pleased with the final out come. I am not sure if I would recommend.
