Seat Junky is amazing! The reviews on here complaining there aren't any shows are because they clearly don't check it often enough to get tickets. I check the site several times a day and have ended up seeing some amazing shows and none of them have been the comedy clubs. They have all been concerts. I looked today to see all the last shows I've attended in the last 9 months and the tickets add up to over $1000 worth of tickets. Well worth it if you ask me. I really enjoy the Phoenix Symphony and most live music offerings by SeatJunky (formerly Fill A Seat). The annual $59 membership is pretty good just solely for these opportunities. Comedy clubs are very popular on this service. I miss the Phoenix Mercury, though. Do not expect popular events on this service. Examples: DBacks, Suns, Cardinals, Coyotes, major music concerts / popular performers in large venues. Log onto the site on Tuesday mornings to see the newest opportunities. The idea is great, but something doesn't work. I check everyday for shows. Sometimes there's nothing. Most of the time it's just these comedy shows at Mic Drop where you have to buy expensive drinks. I went to one of those ONCE. We drove 45 min to get there, only to be told the show was cancelled but we could go into their family friendly improv show instead. I understand the frustration some members mention about lots of comedy clubs and not a huge selection of events but I have been a member for six or seven years now and have gotten my money back many times over versus the price of tickets from the box office. The selection is slim and sporadic at times, and tickets move quickly but if you check often you will find some gems. Went to a show at the Herberger Theatre last week with my four seat membership. The tickets would have cost between $180 to $290 for the four of us so just that one show has more than paid for my recent renewal. Had an awesome time! I used to use fill a seat back in Las Vegas and so when I saw the groupon deal, I was pretty ecstatic. To me, if Phoenix is anything like Las Vegas, then the membership would be so worth it. I should of read yelp reviews! I should of. Darn - I just got too excited. Read the one star reviews about not having good shows and most are comedy shows. Those who have great reviews state that you just have to log on to score the good ones. Ok - so i've had my membership for 3 months now and I practically log on every day - probably just as much as I would be logging on to my facebook account and the best I've gotten were two comedy shows (one was good and the other, I walked out of after 20 minutes) and a show that I thought was like Chippendales, but so much worse that I walked out of that one too. I rejoined FillASeat/Seat Junky a few months ago, and so far I'm very disappointed with the service. When I initially signed up about 2 years ago there were many events and the offerings were being updated quite frequently. So far, there seems to be maybe less than 10 events total that have booked up very quickly. I haven't been able to find an event that was available and was of interest. This program is a good idea, but so far I've been greatly disappointed this go-around. Unless their offerings get better, I would not recommend the service and will not renew again. Update (10/25/17): A month has passed since I reviewed SeatJunky. Offerings are very slim to nil (improv comedy shows and an event at the symphony.) This program continues to be a pathetic joke. I have been a member of seatjunky for several years now. It was formally fillaseat. I do hate that they don't have an app anymore but they are saying there will be one by end of year. As far as reviews on here saying there aren't any good shows anymore, wait until September 2017 and the start of fall season. Shows are VERY slow coming during the summer months. Phoenix Symphony is on hiatus during the summer. Just got tickets for the new fall season tonight threw seatjunky for Phoenix Symphony plays Rat Pack. Looking forward it it. I have been a member since January, purchasing a discounted membership thru Groupon. I have been to only 4 shows. I can honestly say that I would not have EVER bought tickets to ANY of the shows I have attended for "free." [Since I paid for the membership, I don't consider the shows "free," especially the comedy shows, which require a minimum purchase.] There is never more than maybe 6-8 shows ever offered at one time, with 4-5 always being bottom-of-the-barrell comedy clubs with talent you've likely never heard of, Rage in the Cage events, or mediocre events at Celebrity Theatre. Occasionally, there are some less popular Phoenix Symphony events, but you have to be lucky to get those tickets before they "sell out," not that you would really want those either. It's quite obvious why they are so secretive about the events they offer, not allowing you to know what they have without buying the membership. I was hopeful when I bought this that it was just a new company that needed to gain it's footing to garner new clients & better events, but that has not been the case in the past 9 months. Maybe I need to wait longer. Well, my subscription expires in 3 months, so I'll give it until then. However, at this time, I truly have no intention of renewing with Fill-A-Seat. read more

Supposedly the charge was for the $10, 1 drink minimum that we never received. Contacted fillaseat who contacted the vendor. Supposedly we were supposed to have received a ticket to give to the bartender. The ticket was never received, thus nobody told us about giving a ticket to the bartender to get the drink. When contacting fillaseat again with that information, I received no response and never received reimbursement of my 20 bucks! Even though the show was good, the fillaseat membership did little to nothing for me except cause me to have to take attitude from the venue. (fillaseat value $10 for 2 people - full price was 15) Piano Concert - I have 2 ticket scheduled for this one. I'll update after the show. So far the value received is $70. A year membership is $150 for a quartet membership and is going up to $160. I would need to see a value of over $200 to make it worth the hassle, and it would have to be in something other than comedy shows. If I achieve that I will renew. I'll keep you posted. I wish 2 things: 1) that I could give Fill A Seat zero stars and 2) that before I purchased a membership I'd first checked Yelp for reviews. I bought a 6mth membership and what a TOTAL WASTE. You log on every day, hoping there is actually *something* that you'd want to attend besides comedy, comedy, comedy, and OH, MORE comedy! All they ever seem to have available are comedy shows. Total scam. I was excited to get a discounted membership on Groupon, and even gave a membership as a gift my parents, but I ended up getting refunds for all of us. The selection was absolutely pathetic and I checked constantly trying to find something that didn't require an additional purchase. Some of the events even required you to buy admission tickets. How is this free admission if you have to pay for admission tickets?? Almost everything else requires additional purchases , none of this being mentioned on the FAQ's or anywhere on the website until you have purchased the membership. Don't pay attention to the negative reviews on here--Fillaseat is a legitimate value. I've had my membership for two weeks (paid $36 on Groupon), and I've already gone to the Phoenix Symphony twice including the fabulous Star Wars vs. Star Trek show that sold out within minutes!! The people on here complaining that there's nothing but comedy clearly don't check the site very often. If you don't jump on deals, they disappear quickly. Of course they do!! Who doesn't want free tickets to awesome shows! You think there's an unlimited amount? Here's what I do to ensure I get the best tickets--I put a direct link to the current events on my phone's home screen. Throughout the day--as I'm microwaving my coffee, giving my kids a bath, waiting in line at the grocery store--I hit it. Takes me straight to the current events and only takes about three seconds. This is how I've managed to get back about 400% of my money in tickets already. Also, I did notice that the Berlioz and Sibelius show was on there all week, so no one can say there's nothing but comedy. I've also noted several shows that I've no interest in, but are not comedy. Oh, and some WNBA stuff. I'm excited to see what fabulous free tickets I can snag throughout the rest of the year! Don't believe the haters--the membership is totally worth it even if you only get one good show. You just have to be diligent in checking the site if you want the best stuff. read more

My wife and I have been members of Fill A Seat for almost two years now, and we love it. We could never afford to be regular attenders of the symphony, ballet, plays, or concerts; maybe a couple of performances a year, within our limited budget--but with Fill A Seat we regularly attend them all! I can't recommend Fill A Seat enough, to anyone interested in taking in some of the broad range of culture Phoenix has to offer. There are a couple of venues whose shows we avoid due to mandatory parking fees or drink purchases, but we get more than enough value from our membership without them--and if you're already used to paying for drinks & parking when you go out, you'll get even more value from your membership than we do. The closest thing I have to a complaint is that we have to check the site/app several times a day (during the season--not much going on in the summer) if we want to be sure we get tickets to the best events; there's almost never a notification when an event is posted (and when there is, their site sometimes can't handle the traffic), and sometimes only a few tickets are available, so it's easy to miss out on a hot ticket. We just make it a part of our normal daily routines, now, and have seen 95% of everything we were interested in over the last year--not a big deal, but something new users ought to be aware of. read more

Seat Junky is the BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME EVER!!!! There have been a total of three events in the Phoenix market over the past 30 days. A women's choir, some ballet dance at the botanical gardens, and a Thursday night comedy show where they let anyone in for free as long as they buy at least two overpriced drinks at the show. As bad as these shows are, they were all still sold out by the time I found them, so I couldn't have gone, even if I wanted to. And there's no way to be notified of new events. You have to go and search for them. And each time I have looked the existing events were sold out or there simply are no events whatsoever. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE RIP OFF! SeatJunky should be sued for false advertising and Groupon should be called out for supporting this fraudulent so-called service. read more

We just renewed for another year and upgraded our membership. I added up the tickets we received and the value of the tickets was almost $2,000. We've seen plays, Mercury games, concerts and more. The only frustrating part is when the tickets are for a "hot" show, those are difficult to get. I have been trying now to get tickets to something for the past week and they keep taking it off and adding it back on as sold out. Not sure if they are adding more tickets and they go that fast or just teasing with a sold out show. I check Fillaseat probably 20-30 times daily and haven't had any luck. I'm a big fan, if your new to the city many of the tickets it offers are in city centers or points of interest and having a reason to go is a great way to explore. I bought my membership last month. I was a lil hesitant about it. I tried it for the first time today, and now I can say fill a seat is legit . I reserved 2 tickets for Cafe Tacvba in phoenix . Picked up my tickets an hour before the concert. No questions asked, I just had to show my ID and the email I got after making my reservation. I paid $10 for parking. Just read the restrictions for each event, some times you have to buy drinks but on other events there are no restrictions. I enjoyed the concert, got to pick my own seat. I will reserve more events now that I know how it works. This definitely paid off for the one time membership fee. read more

I recently came across a livingsocial deal that offers their 1 year membership at a discounted rate and tried doing some research on what shows they offer and the type of events that are regularly available. Don't waste your money. 80% of events are small venue comedy shows. At these venues you have to buy two drinks minimum and the comedy is usually pretty bad. So I end up always spending more than 40 bucks for these "free" tickets. I was hoping for more Mercury games, symphony, plays, actual shows that would cost me money to see but through this deal I get to see for free. Very disappointing. I was a member last year and felt like they were building momentum after they had a few good shows. Looks like it went the other way. There are too few good shows to make this worth it. You also have to log in all the time to check what is available. It's first come first serve so if you are a regular person with a job that keeps you busy you will often miss the 30 minute or an hour window that the few tickets to good shows are available. They don't let you see what events are going to be available before you purchase, so you really have no clue until you buy the membership as to what kind of shows you'll have access to. There's usually 5-8 choices, but they are all shows that I would never go see, even for free. Comedy shows at Iguana Mack's? I could get in there anytime without paying for some "exclusive" membership. Other shows include Rage in the Cage or Phoenix symphony (but good luck trying to be the one to score those!). I really should've read reviews and talked to someone before purchasing this. 90% of the events are at Standup Live in Scottsdale, which is an hour drive from me. I went to one there and I was not impressed with the food or the comedians. I also had gone on Stand up Live's website to get directions, and when I did, I noticed that the show was only $10. So I thought I would stick it out a little longer and see if anything else comes up that I would be interested in. It has now been about 3 months and I have yet to find one other thing in a better venue or that I would like. I did read that they didn't do refunds, but I figured if they looked at my purchases and saw that I had just signed up and was unhappy they would refund my money. I sent a polite email, and of course they wrote me back that I will not be getting my money.
