My best friend and I are both die hard The Office fans, getting to bond together was a great experience, the staff working the event was really kind too - they took some pictures for us and really played along with the theme. Items from the actual filming set were on show and a bunch of interactive activities were present. The shop at the end had so many cool sweaters, bobble heads, journals and more. Sometimes I get worried experiences like these will turn out being a cheap/fast experience but this really was worth the money!

The recreated set of the office itself is mostly realistic, but clearly edited to fit the space it's in. The staff are all very helpful and offer to take photos of you at every turn. And there are some interactive stops where you can play games, too. But as you walk through, some stations feel like filler (like the passages with quotes or pictures on the walls). The gift shop is pretty incredible, you will have a hard time picking just one (or a few) things to buy. They've got a college sweatshirt that says BIG TUNA, plushies of Prison Mike, and keychains made to look like keys to the three rooms and Dwight's B&B. My friend and I went on a weeknight and it was pretty empty, so I recommend avoiding the weekend crowds!

Dear reader, It is…read moreonly fair that I report the National Arboretum remains one of the coolest places in DC. It is massive, gorgeous, and the kind of place that makes you feel like you have briefly escaped the city without actually going very far. There is so much space to walk, relax, and just be outside for a while, and it never really feels crowded. Every time you turn a corner there is something new to look at, which makes the whole place feel like a very peaceful little adventure. The bonsai museum is easily one of the crown jewels. It kind of blows my mind every time that there are so many bonsai there, and some of them are up to or over 400 years old, including the famous Yamaki Pine. It is one of those places that really makes you slow down and pay attention because the amount of care, history, and detail in everything is just incredible. A very quiet flex, if you will. I also love that the Arboretum is not just about plants, although those alone would be enough. We saw bald eagles, there are beavers on the grounds, and it always feels like some kind of wildlife cameo could happen at any moment. Between the trees and plants from all over the country and the world, the Capitol Columns, the bonsai, the gardens, and all the open space, there is so much to take in without it ever feeling overwhelming. Dogs are welcome too, which feels very civilized, though they cannot go into the bonsai museum. Overall, this place is just such a gem. Beautiful, relaxing, and full of little surprises. I will absolutely keep going back, and frankly, I think society should too.

The Arboretum is home to the world's first museum dedicated to the art of bonsai, and that's where we started. These bonsai trees are between 30 to 100-200 years old. There is one that is 400! This section alone is impressive. We also walked over to the columns that were once a part of the State Capitol building. With 451 acres the collections are based on categories which is nice. You want to look at conifers all day? Go right ahead. Azaleas and magnolias? Knock yourself out. Pick your spot. Don't feel like you can see everything AND enjoy it in one day...because you can't. Pick 1-3 things and enjoy the day. Stop by the the visitor center for a map and events for the day. Today there were Ikebana classes. Do a restroom call with the gang there before you venture out. There are portables throughout if you need to go. Read the website for areas that are wheelchair accessible or you could drive through to assess your beginning and endpoints.

Ticket selection for their special promotions (pups in the park) won't let you book tickets properly because their system doesn't handle the dog vs human ticket type correctly so you can't book 2 human tickets and 1 dog ticket. When you call them they don't answer (literally let it ring for over 2 minutes and they have no voicemail during regular M-F business hours). So in addition to sucking at baseball their office doesn't even make it easy for you to attend a special event that is the only reason to go watch them lose in the first place.

Each year the three of us on the ticket plan are asked to login to the two systems (yes, you must have two accounts - one on the Nats' website, the other on the MLB website). Each of us then need to update our profiles, accept all the caveats, and link the two accounts . . . it never works. So, the lead season ticket holder cannot distribute the tickets to the other two of us. Many calls to the Nats help line result in little help, but promises to look into the matter and call us back (no, they do neither). So, it is now nearly the All Star break and we have spent a ridiculous amount of time seeking customer service. If this was any other company's affiliate card system (e.g. CVS, Safeway, etc.) it would have failed and cost the company dearly, but the MLB is accustomed to being a monopoly with an antitrust exemption, which means they can have an inept, soviet-quality customer service program and digital ticket system and think that is just fine. Soooo tempted to just watch the game on TV, listen to it on the radio and get my live fix with the Bethesda Big Train.

A spur of the moment trip to see the Nationals in DC was an easy audible with close proximity to the Metro and a knowledgeable, hardworking staff to smooth all the edges. One note. If you look for tickets on-line, the Nats will force you to create an account with MLB.com -- a task which is somewhat involved since I have no interest in buying the team and only want two tix. As the Nats run a cash-free organization, the easiest thing to do is go to their ticket office directly outside the center field gate and they'll text you two tix without the MLB nonsense. Being an avid ticket stub collector, I should deduct a star but what the hell, the evening was a blast. A beautiful ballpark and a great time. Five easy stars.

I am an O's fan so this rivalry means something to me. I also really enjoyed the Nats giveaway that day. A hot dog hat. Normally I am underwhelmed by the Nats giveaways even as a baseball fan but this was the only one I really felt excited about. I sat in Club Level and I was a little shocked that no one in staff at the park was checking peoples tickets. They were letting anyone go up to club level which was an issue for several reasons. Problem #1: It was hot dog day and the food was $5 so the lines were absurdly long and there were people from the lower and upper levels going to CLUB LEVEL to get concessions. At Camden Yards the staff actually checks your tickets to seeing you're supposed to be at Club Level. That's what makes club level great the lines are smaller but the cost is that you don't get the specialty food options like on the lower level. The only person checking tickets at club level were the guys at the door if you were supposed to be in like Sections 206-210 Problem 2: Because no one was checking club level when entering there was issues with people sitting in my seat. Where was the usher in my section??? Idk he wasn't there and some jerk took my seat saying since I was wearing an O's jersey I didn't deserve that seat. I paid good money to sit in club level and not being able to sit in my seat was ridiculous. Additionally I was harassed by several Nats fans during my time at the park. To a point one of them stole my free giveaway hat because "you're not even a fan". I paid for the ticket and I waited ALMOST AN HOUR at the gate being one of the first people to enter the ballpark and to get my hat just taken from me was a slap in the face. I already filled out the survey with Nationals Park and requested that a staffer call me and I hope they do because of all the times I've been to Nats Park in my life I've never felt as disrespected as I did on my most recent visit.

There's a lot of research that's supported here, as well as other activities. The website explains all that. It's a low-key sightseeing spot; quiet, contemplative.
