Since that time, the team ranks fifth in the league in all-time points percentage (regular season). After getting off to a slow start that included five consecutive seasons of zero playoff appearances, Nashville now routinely qualifies for the playoffs. The team won its first conference championship (Western Conference) in 2017 and advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. All in all, not bad. The 2017 Finals pitted the Predators against the well-established Pittsburgh Penguins and NHL superstar Sidney Crosby. The Preds fared relatively well against the Pens, extending the series to six games which, unfortunately, ended on a 2-0 home loss inside Bridgestone Arena. That season (2016-17), Nashville was led by team captain Mike Fisher and guys like Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson, Ryan Johansen, and Roman Josi. Forsberg, Johansen, and Rosi still play for Nashville today and all three rank among the franchise's all-time leaders in points, goals, and assists. The all-time leader in all three categories is David Legwand. Legwand was drafted by the Predators in 1998 (2nd overall pick) and played 15 seasons for Nashville. The 2017 Predators were coached by current Washington Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette. Laviolette led the Carolina Hurricanes to the 2006 Stanley Cup championship and also led the Philadelphia Flyers to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. He's one of only four coaches to lead three different NHL teams to the Finals. Nashville's appearance in the 2017 Finals was the first time a major professional sports team from Tennessee advanced to a championship game. With Laviolette (2014-2020) and the franchise's first head coach, Barry Trotz (1998-2014), the Predators have had some pretty decent coaches. Now a seasoned veteran, the beloved Trotz got his NHL head coaching start in Nashville. Four years after leaving Nashville in 2014, Trotz led the Caps to the Stanley Cup title in 2018. In January 2020, current Preds head coach John Hynes signed a three-year deal that will see him through the 2021-22 NHL season. It will be interesting to see if Nashville sticks with Hynes past 2022.

They play their home games at Bridgestone Arena in Downtown Nashville, and they have a very strong and vocal fan base, almost to the point of being obnoxious. R and I went to a Preds home game in late November when the Anaheim Ducks were in town. Since we're from Anaheim, we wore Ducks jerseys, and got some good natured ribbing from Preds fans before the game. Right after I passed through the security checkpoint at the entrance to the arena, one of the young ladies on the ice crew smiled and offered me a sticker with the Predator logo on it and said, "I think this sticker will go perfectly right over here" and pointed right where the Anaheim Ducks logo was on my jersey. Why is Nashville's NHL team named Predators? In 1971, construction crews discovered the bones of a saber-tooth tiger in a cave below the city, proving that they once inhabited this region. During the fans' voting process which determined the name of the team, the three names that got the most votes were "Ice Tigers," "Fury," and "Attack." The original owner of the Nashville team submitted another name "Predators" which he later revealed was the name of the team. I was very impressed by the loudness of the fans' cheers, and physical and vocal participation whenever something happened that triggered more cheers and hand gestures. I listened closely to their cheers and actually learned many of them, especially the ones cheered after the Preds scored a goal. Why? Because we yelled the same cheers after the Ducks scored a goal! Funny, though, that the Preds fans around us just laughed, maybe because they thought it was hilarious that Ducks fans used Preds' cheers. A Preds fan who sat next to R laughed when she heard us using their cheers and said, "Well, I guess it's fair, since the Ducks scored on the Preds!" The Nashville Predators and their fans had a lot to cheer about because the Preds beat the Ducks that night, 3-2, scoring the go ahead goal with less than 8 minutes left in the 3rd period. The Preds' defense stopped the Ducks from scoring after that. Well played, Predators! Predators players have been active in the community with several different initiatives. These include efforts with the Make a Wish Foundation, 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund, and local youth hockey programs.

I'm not a huge Disney fan but, who doesn't love Aladdin, Wreck-It Ralph, Snow White, and the entire Encanto familia singing loud ballads from floor to ceiling? My wife is a huge Disney person and absolutely love this and wants to come back for a second trip. Also, this is the first time I've been to an immersive experience, and I've actually liked the merchandise they have for sale in the lobby. We definitely walked out with a few Mickey Mouse mugs and some coloring books for the kids. This place is hard to find on your first visit as the entrance is located on the back of the building, facing the parking garage. By the way, the parking garage at faces that's all free parking for guests of the Lighthouse Art Space. This place is in the bustling neighborhood of Green Hills, so there are plenty of places to eat afterwards. Have fun!

At night, there's no venue I'd rather choose for a concert! There's practically no bad seat in the house; unfortunately, there are a few seats directly behind pillars that do get sold as viable seats. Other than that, any seat in this rather intimate venue is worthwhile. I've had the privilege of seeing numerous shows here (Opry tapings, Carly Pearce, Brandon Lake, Vance Joy, etc.) and would recommend both ground and balcony level seating! Tonight, I saw the fifth annual Breland & Friends concert benefitting Oasis from balcony section 13, row A, seats 1-2 - and dare I say that's the best view I've had yet. Front row of the balcony seating, center stage, room to stretch legs - unbeatable! Service is solid at the Ryman - from ushers to guide you to your seats to bartenders serving food and drinks. Security tonight seemed patient and friendly, too, setting the stage for a great night ahead!

This is the historic "Mother Church of Country Music," and is still famous for its near-perfect acoustics and iconic oak pews. Walking the permitter of the outside is impressive enough, including the statues of country music icons such as George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Bill Monroe, Charley Pride, and Little Jimmy Dickens. Inside, a statue of Roy Acuff and Minnie Pearl sits in the lobby. These sculptures celebrate artists who shaped the venue's 130-year history. Then there were to huge performers buses within the small parking lot, a reminder that the Grand Ole Opry may have moved to the suburbs, but this place still shines as a performance venue.
