Have been a few times and is always good. Went on a Wednesday. We were greeted immediately when we walked in, very friendly, and got a table right away. It was busy for a Wednesday. It's a little loud but in a good way, lively atmosphere. It was wing night, $15 for wings and fries. Very good portion size. Our waitress was great as well. Nice little pub. I am not sure why this place doesn't have more stars. The food here is AWESOME. Great beer selection as well as great cocktails. They did a seasonal cocktail that was delicious. This is a go to place for me. I would highly reccomend the pies as they make them in house and they are fantastic. The mac and cheese and the yorkies with beef was sooo good as well. That beef just melts in your mouth, as beef should. Shout out to our awesome server (I forget her name!) But she has blonde hair and tattoos and is so attentive, friendly, and just overall great! Was surprised by the brutal service at this place. Young, unprofessional and rude staff. Not sure who is training these people but they are not trained for restaurant service. The bar was very loud and not enjoyable even for the short time we were there...also lots of fake, dusty plants hanging everywhere, which was gross... but the food was the worst part. Had terrible stomach pains and felt very sick after eating the greasy fish and chips here. They should stick with what they are good at...turning on TVs and serving alcohol. Tons of other pubs in the area to get greasy food. Avoid this place if you don't like diarrhea. read more

I really enjoyed Filly & Co! My friend suggested it for comfort food and she was spot on. The atmosphere was nice, the menu had tons of variety and the servers were super friendly and quick! I also loved the huge selection of beer. Everything on the menu looked delicious--the pulled pork poutine, beef tacos and grilled cheese sounded especially good. We settled on calamari as a starter and we both got a grilled cheese with pulled pork as our main. The calamari was ok--honestly, I've had better...the batter didn't really stick. But oh my god, the grilled cheese was AMAZING. Really cheesy and flavourful. The bread was crusted with cheese too...ugh, so good. I would definitely return! I'm eager to try a few other things on the menu. read more

As far as Bar and Grill type places go, this is definitely one of my favourites. It's got everything I could want really: good food, good beer, a nice atmosphere, and friendly and efficient staff. I've met friends here a few times over the last year, and we've always been able to make a reservation (usually for 6 people or so), and have always had a table. They also seem to have beer and food deals most days of the week. Last time I was here was on a Monday. So I had Rickards Red on tap, and a burger and fries to eat, because both were the specials that day. As far as the burger goes; it was okay. Nothing great, but nothing wrong with it either. Fries were good, and they give you a good portion. Next time I'll try something else, but at the same time I wasn't disappointed with this either. I've had a few different things on the menu, and although nothing was amazing, nothing was bad either. It's good to know that you can always get good food no matter what you order. I find the staff to be really friendly here. They're helpful with the food selections, make ordering easy, are quick to refill drinks (even if it's just water). They don't hover, but also are around enough to make sure you've got what you need. All in all, I always have a good experience here, and I will continue to go back. read more

Short version: We enjoyed and will be back! Detailed version: Nice little modern pub with an outside patio in Aurora. Beer lovers will be happy with on tap variety. Foodies will enjoy a menu with variety of quality options from modern fusion fare to typical pub faves. Menu isn't overwhelming (just varied enough) but we had a tough time deciding (because we were hungry!) From poutine topped with duck confit or pulled pork, to chicken and waffles served with a sweet and spicy chili syrup, to house-made butter chicken and about 6 different wing flavors to choose from, everything sounds delish. Nice to see a few interesting healthy salad options beyond the boring old garden or caesar options at most places (kale and quinoa, beets, etc.). Our calamari appetizer came quickly. Super fresh and tender, coated in a light and crispy batter accompanied by a good mayo-based lime "crema". No rubbery squid here. For mains, hubby ordered the roast beef dip sandwich and it did not disappoint! Unbelievably tender, melt-in-your-mouth beef, on a fresh, soft, fluffy bun topped with melty swiss cheese and just enough horseradish for the perfect little kick. Au jus (sauce) was almost perfect but on the salty side. Taste otherwise on point. My fish tacos had high and low points but I should have known better because all modern restaurants make them similarly. Fish again was super fresh and portions so big I only ate 1.5 of my two tacos (mind you I ate 1/4 of Hubby's sandwich) but could be more flavorful. Cabbage, though not my fave, provided a nice crunch (a pickled cabbage would be nicer). The dish was HEAVY on mayo and what I think was sriracha, which it relied on for flavor. I agree with the person who said corn tortillas would take these tacos next level and I'd LOVE if they came with more tropical flavors. Maybe guac and a mango citrus pico with some habanero instead of all that mayo? Just a thought. Would make a healthier option too. Service was friendly and fast. Interior decor is nice; an updated take on a classic pub ambience. Prices are fair. We went on a Sunday at 8pm. The place was busy but not chaotic which made a nice relaxed vibe. Summary: Would recommend! Go check it out. Aurora has limited good options IMHO but this is one of the good guys! read more

Stopped in there yesterday for lunch. Waitress spent her time at the bar chatting it up with some loud guy....we got our food from kitchen before we got utensils. Waitress never came to out table until it was time for the bill. Had the fish n chips. Crispyburnt fish and brown fries....I think they need to change the oil! Not a pleasant atmosphere...specially having to listen to a loud obnoxious waitress. I would not recommend this place. There are much better and friendlier places. read more

Wow! This is the old Filly & Firkin. Been a while since I've been here. They have completely renovated! The place is much newer, brighter and cleaner. I would never have brought my kids here before but now I wouldn't hesitate. New, fresh menu. This visit had the nachos and deep fried pickles. Both were excellent. You can tell that they have stepped up their game quite a bit. Still lots of selection on tap. If you haven't tried this place in a while, worth another shot. Really, really great place. Me and my girlfriend ended up coming here as a long shot after not being able to get into another restaurant on new years eve. It was my first time here since their renovation and rebranding. The place looks great with the new fixtures and updated seating and new bathrooms. (Gotta love subway tile!) It seems like they've condensed the menu quite a bit; it's now a sleek, one page menu with the traditional pub fixings. My boyfriend and I split a pound of wings, perogies and nachos. The perogies were awesome and topped off with bacon, sautéed onions and fresh green onion. The wings were good, although, I think I would have preferred if they were coated with a thicker breading and then fried. (Just my personal preference.) The suicide sauce was HOT and absolutely delicious. My only real qualm was the nachos; I would have preferred if they had put the salsa and sour cream on the side versus loaded on top as it made for some very soggy chips. All in all, with the renovations, friendly staff and the consistency on delivering quality pub food - the Filly & Co will continue to be my favourite pub food spot. read more
