So today I felt like getting falafel. After looking around on the internet I realized that there wasn't that many falafel places close to my hotel. But there was this one. So I took a walk from my hotel on Parkstraat, which was about a 15 min walk to get to the King Falafel. The place is located just of the shopping streets and not crowded at all. It's your typical fast-foof-over-the-counter place, which can be both good and bad. The place is quite small and the only place to sit is by the counter and like one high table for two people in the back, so not a place to stay in and eat at. That didnt matter for me, since I was set on bringing my food back to the hotel. So the food. I went for falafel in a pita. And it was amazing! The falafel is made when you order them, not even pre "shaped", they will scoop them up and fry them when you order them. Real fresch! The pita was nothing special, its your regular pita, heated before you get it. When your falafel is fried and your pita is heatened, you get your falafel and you can put what ever salad you want for their salad bar. Eventhough its a self service saladbar, its fresh! Lots off different things and a few differet sauces aswell. I went for the tahini sauce which was really nice! My conclusion. One of the best falafels I've had and it only cost me €4,95 for a pita with 6-7 quite big falafel in it. Not five stars though, since the pita could have been better. So if you are in Den Haag and crave falafel, this is the place to go! And I would definitely go back.

On the second visit, I had Soto Ayam. It's a soup, reminiscent of Pho, but with a distinctly different flavor profile. Chicken-base, with tons of fresh ingredients. They have a special 'eco' version (which stands for economically friendly) for 5 euros, which is mashed curry potatoes and two pieces of chicken wrapped inside a roti with in a piece of plastic. Very simple and very tasty. Spend a few euros more and they add vegetables (stringbeans), or more meat and a hard boiled masala egg. The selection of meat consists of: lamb, chicken (with or without bone) and duck, or you can get a vegetarian version. Side dishes are pumpkin and eggplant, which go very nicely with the roti too. Since they are Hindus, you will not find any beef on the menu. Also good to know, is that the meat is all halal, so pork is also not an option. The other things they sell besides rotis are some sandwiches with either boneless chicken in masala or chicken livers. And a bara (which is made from ground mung beans, turned into a round patty) which is deep fried and tastes really good! It's a small restaurant that's basically more a takeaway restaurant with tables for people who enjoy eating their roti right away. You order at the counter and pay there too (before or after your meal). They're open 6 days a week (from noon to about 9pm) and closed on Mondays. They accept cash and debit cards only. So if you're used to Tex-Mex, I would highly recommend to go to Kua and try the traditional style Mexican food, as it is totally worth it. As for the service, the waiters are friendly. No negatives there. Despite my positivity about this establishment, there are some negatives. Firstly, the dishes are quite small. This is a shame because it's not advertised as a small plate/sharing type place. Secondly, the restaurant itself is also small, meaning that there isn't much space available, which leads me to my third negative point, you 100% need a reservation. Since the restaurant is small and good, it's quite popular. This means that it's always full and it'll be hard to get a table without having a reservation. Overall, I would recommend Kua mainly because of it's authenticity and the quality of the food.
