    Artichoke
    Xing G.

It's a very cute place. But the dishes came out really slowly. The artichoke looks very pretty, but very hard to eat. Loved the Korean cauliflowers. The taco was okay.

    Mushroom toast with white beans.

Went for lunch and had mushroom toast with white beans. My family had burgers with fries and Caesar salad. Everyone was quite pleased.

    Clean place and friendly faces

Food: hearty tasty vegan fare Service: perfect, friendly & helpful Decor: sparse but warm Price: reasonable but tad high (15e for veg burger and fries) Beers: organic labels as well as Orval Tempeh, tofu and veggies abound in cute clean joint a bit out in left-field west of the central city proper.

Risotto (€17.50): rice + asparagus, fresh peas, lemon, ‘parmesan’ crisp, pea shoots, and tarragon oil

I went here for the first time about a month ago. LOCATION: This location is kind of out of the way and away from most of the interesting areas of the city, hence the lower score. 2/5 ATMOSPHERE: The decor isn't anything worthwhile in my opinion, but it was fairly clean. 3/5 SELECTION: It's all vegan, which is great, but to be honest, I feel like their menu could be a bit bigger. Maybe it'd be better if the lunch and dinner portions of their menu were combined and offered together, from lunchtime on, instead of two separate sections at two separate times. Also, I think they're menu prices are a tad expensive for what they are and the fact that it isn't like a super fancy restaurant or anything. I feel like a lot of the items could be about €3 less. 2/5 WHAT I GOT: I got their risotto. It was the first risotto I've ever had (that I can remember lol), and it was alright. It was hot, which was good, but I feel like it could've taste better. The ingredients are listed as: asparagus, fresh peas, lemon, 'parmesan' crisp, pea shoots, and tarragon oil, but I feel like they just kind of all melded together and all I could mostly taste was an oily flavor over rice. Maybe that's poor judgement because it was my first time having risotto, but it just tasted like oily rice with a hint of a vegetable-y taste. It still, at least, tasted of good and freshly-made quality though lol. 3/5 SERVICE: The service was alright. I feel like the employees could've seemed a little friendly, but at least our food didn't take terribly long. 3/5

This place is just absolutely amazing. Their food is so creative, they provide fantastic service, and it's a great experience for both omnivores and vegans.

I could eat a gazillion of those little potatoes with that mustard and the cauliflower steak sauce
    Soohyun Y.

I got the cauliflower steak, but my favorite part of the dish was actually the potatoes. They were the perfect temperature (which to me means a little bit on the hotter/steamier side, but not enough to scald you). And lathered with the mustard/mayo (I think?) and the cauliflower steak sauce... I was about to explode towards the end of the meal, but I couldn't stop eating the potatoes. As for the cauliflower steak, it was good, but I would deduct a point for it being a little bit difficult to eat. As for everything else, it's a lovely restaurant with good service. My server was really friendly and attentive (not just to me, but also to everyone else she was serving).

    English breakfast during Saturday brunch
    Erin M.

I ate here three times during my week in Amsterdam. It was very, very, very good. On the first visit, we split the MD cheeseburger with fries, an asparagus soup and a caeser salad. The fries (AKA chips) were amazing, the best I had in Amsterdam. They were served with vegan mayo and ketchup with some ground pumpkin seeds. The burger was so tasty, one of my all time favorite veggie burgers. On the second visit, we had brunch and it was very filling and pretty good. For 15 euro, you select a dish, and it includes freshly squeezed OJ and coffee. I'm not sure why the restaurant was so quiet on a Saturday for brunch. Perhaps brunch isn't as much of a thing in Amsterdam? I liked the "English" style breakfast, it came with amazing vegan sausage. On my third visit, I had an MD cheeseburger and fries all to myself. Yum. Then I split a fried banana and ice cream dessert which was quite spicy and tasty.

This is not good food! The Burger has a FROZEN patty!!!

I don't know where those people eat, that have rated this 5 stars?? Thank you for the stomach pain that both my husband and I have now. This is not Vegan food!!! I am giving it 1 Star for the Staff that was nice but I would have giving it 0 Stars! (We had "dinner" here on Sep 5th 2017!) -We had the MD Burger for 16€ hahaha(the patty was so thin and the whole burger just had 1 piece of "cheese" and a little green in it , the fries served with it where old and the end pieces of them! ) Try making a black bean burger I can give you my recipe! -Fried Cauliflower (when you fry something you also have to put it on a napkin before you serve it so we don't end up having the grease all over. And the cauliflower was still very raw you would think that when you fry something it would be done! I bet it was from the freezer!!) -we had the steak tartar as well to try (where should I begin. They made it look like real meat! WTF!? Vegans don't want to see meat on their plates! The 2 pieces of truffle chips where pathetic. Be Creative with vegetable tartar for example! and add at least 10 pieces of chips with it!) Sorry but having eaten vegan food all over the world this chef is not creative at all. Vegan food is not about eating food that have to look like meat! There are so many different varieties of fruit and vegetables that you can make so many dishes out of. I do it myself at home and am more creative. There was no flavors at all, just some pretending "vegan/ plant based food" Please look up Vegan chefs and Vegan creative home cooks and learn some stuff! Sorry but I am a honest Guest and reviewer!

    The vegan burger with fries
    Noura Andréa A.

MD is a good vegan restaurant / cafe in the city. The overall atmosphere is down to earth and light. You get a sort of look into the kitchen, It's always nice when you can see how your food is being made. The staff is really nice, smiling and helpful. As for the food, I ordered the Vegan Burger, with fries. The plate was beautiful. The tofu patty was thick and tasteful but a bit dry, but the sauces added the right moisture. The vegetables are thin, and only add texture, as they are raw (except for the ONE small slice of eggplant placed in the middle, so yeah, you don't get it through every bite). The bread (sourdough I think?) was a tad fragile, as I like to push down my burger to eat it (sadly, the bread and patty were starting to break) and the veggies falling out. I just settled to not eating the top bun (there's no sauce on it anyway). The fries were really good! Fresh and not too greasy. The ketchup was sprinkled with pumpkin seeds. And there was a vegan mayo, with a bit of garlic. Good good! Would definitely go back!

The food was tasty (though the mushrooms were not fried but sautéed and the meats were dry and the portions tiny). But the service killed the night.
