I usually have really good luck at the fine wine and good spirits store. They are really good about bringing in reps to do taste tests which are always welcome. Try before you buy isn't really a moto for most wine and liquor. But I'm much more likely to purchase a more expensive product if I'm given the opportunity to try it before dropping $40+ on a bottle of wine. Their selection is very good, I can always find something that appeals to me even if I wasn't able to find the exact product that may be a bit more difficult to find like Jefferson's ocean barrel strength or tin cup 10 year. They are often running specials on different products so I always keep my eye out for good deals! I've seen upwards of $5 off a bottle which is cool. They always have box sets with glassware or special items if you're looking for a gift for someone. Parking here is the major downside however the big lot across the street by the firehouse always has open spots... Just a bit of a walk. read more

I'm a craft beer fan and frequent distributors or a micro brew searching for the creative hop and fruit concoction. This weekend we were having a holiday party so I needed to get wine and mixers for a rum punch. The parking here is very sparse with 3-4 reserved spaces for the shop. You may have to park across the street up a ways but a long walk to carry a bunch of bottles. Lucky I got a spot in front. When it comes to wine I know a few average mid price brands from parties however I'm clueless when it comes to types of wine and what's brand is good for a type of wine. I approached a store associate and he was very friendly and helped me pick out wines to serve 30 people.I also needed mixers and he helped me find them and recommended the brands. Checkout was very efficient and an associate helped carry the box out to my car. I had a great experience and at first intimidated - the store associate put me at ease. This Wine & Spirits is a normal size, well-stocked, with an above-average selection of wine. It's one of many stores in a shopping center, conveniently near a few BYOBs. Before dinner, we walked over to get a bottle or two. In no time, we found both a bottle of liquor and a bottle of wine perfect for our needs. I can't believe I haven't given a review on this location yet. I apologize , so let me just go ahead and do this one up. This is located in the Ardmore shopping plaza next to the Planet Fitness location. Parking can be a hassle , but you always have a free lot located across the street with ample spots. This is also one of the biggest Wine and Spirits stores i have been to. I am impressed with all the selections they provide for the customer. This store has it all basically, if you can't find it here I don't know what to tell you. These guys are always having specials running, Thanksgiving along Christmas you can always find great deals. Gift boxes with complimentary shot glasses or regular glasses with the logo on them are always on sale. Another reason why to stop in not just for the holidays , but to give as gifts. The liquor and wine selections are overwhelming with the isles upon isles of endless selections. The libation gods would be very pleased with this , along with the aficionados that come in. These guys in here are nothing but courteous, knowledgeable and helpful if you are confused in what to look for. The store hours are very accommodating so there isn't a rush to get there before 7pm. Clean and bright , with never any type of hold up when trying to check out. I have nothing but good experiences when I come in, seeing where I am at they might not have what I am looking for. I'm baffled at how horrible the service I received yesterday was, especially from their employee Rashima. I just moved to a new Ardmore apartment three days ago, and was picking up some cooking liquors and enjoying the nice selection they had. They put both bottles I bought into a flimsy plastic bag (which I figured was strong enough, since I'm sure they know how much they need to carry). Nope! 3 blocks later, the entire side of the bag rips open and wine shatters on the ground. I go back, and they tell me that they can't do anything unless I go back and pick up sharp shards of glass with my bare hands and bring it to them. I do that, walk the 3 blocks out and back again to pick up shards of sharp glass, and then stand there for an hour as they search for the wine I got. Finally, after an hour, they tell me to go find something that cost the same. I grab a bottle that was $3 more expensive, and they charge me the $3. Normally I don't expect things for free, but when you make me walk back and forth 3 blocks to pick up dangerous shards of glass to prove that I didn't fake a wet, wine smelling receipt and torn open flimsy bag that wasn't double bagged, I hope for them to at least attempt to make it right to me somehow. Instead of a tiny $3 comp from the massive Pennsylvania chain store, I get a lecture from their employee Rashima, the rudest employee I've dealt with in a long time, on how as soon as I exited the building it was entirely my fault that their shitty bag couldn't take the weight of the wine that they put in it and crashed out onto the sidewalk. I was told it could have caught on my jeans? What??? I wasn't even wearing a belt or anything metal on my jeans. In fact, Rashima told me that I should be grateful for everything they were doing for me after wasting an hour of my time and making me pick up broken shards of glass walking back and forth from where their bag failed just 3 blocks away several times. It's really not that hard to be good to customers. I've worked in the service industry. Rashima set an awful example of how to treat customers. read more

Love this place! It's a true paradise. The selection is endless of all the wines and spirits they have. Anything you can possibly want, will most likely be here. Rosé, red or white wines to top shelf vodka, tequila or gin... to everything in between. Prices are good as well. It's a true one stop for all your alcohol needs kinda place. Parking is not the greatest. Good luck finding a stop right up front, otherwise across the st there is somewhat of plenty of spaces. Other than that, bottoms up! read more

Wine & Spirits can get pretty sleazy sometimes, but this location is far from. I feel so lucky to have this in Ardmore! The selection here is absolutely massive. There are never items you "wish" they had because the variety is so expansive. Plus, something amazing is always on sale! The employees at the cash register can be a little rough around the edges sometimes but they're helpful, for the most part. The long lines go pretty quickly too. This place even does the occasional wine tasting. Although I've never been to one, the descriptions seem pretty classy and fun. I will certainly come here for all of my alcoholic needs! Of all the Wine & Spirit stores in Pennsylvania, this location has been rated the best in the state. Yeah... right here in little 'ole Ardmore. Take advantage of the expertise in the store. At least two of the managers are wine experts. Even the cashiers and stock people are well versed in wine. It's a premium store location and offers many wines in their Private Collection that you'd be hard pressed to find close by. Despite being one of the largest purchasers of wine IN THE COUNTRY, the state still manages to charge a couple dollars more than you would in New Jersey or Delaware. HINT: If you're purchasing in volume, head across the state border. All in all, I love the folks that work in this store. They're knowledgable and helpful. I spend a ton of money here... and love every minute. read more

The Ardmore Wine & Spirits store has the dubious distinction of being the crown jewel in the PA wine and liquor monopoly. Of the dozen or so area stores I've been in, the Ardmore location has the best selection of mid to high priced wines, often on sale. I scored Conn Creek and Katherine Hall '06 Napa here for under $40/bottle recently. The chairman's reserve room is very well stocked with high end wines for that special occassion. The wines here are kept at cellar temperature, about 55 deg. F. The rest of the store is well organized, clean, and generally well run. For a government run entity, its about as good as it gets. Parking out front can be tricky at times, but there is a large free municipal lot across the street. read more

Went here for a liquor/wine run and we had to get there before it closed at 10 pm! (ugh) What is up with that?! Anyway, as soon as we walked in -- the aisles were pretty much organized according to spirits, the origin of the bottle per country and such. Too bad, I was hoping to see some tonic water bottles but to my dismay, we had to go somewhere else. Prices were affordable and given that Philly does not have a sales tax! Yup, 0%! Recently, on a trip for Kahlua for a recipe (seriously PA, it is annoying I have to make a second trip to a store for this), I noticed they were bringing in beaucoup bottles to help bring in the New Year. These were serious bottles, not just your usual Asti or Moet. If you want to sip on something special as you sing Auld Lang Syne, take a trip to Ardmore. The sheer size of this place alone makes it my go-to liquor store. They have an extensive amount of hard liquor and wines, much more so than nearby Rosemont Beverage. It's well organized and the aisles and displays are clearly marked. There are always in-store tastings, but I never partake, because this gal don't drink and drive. I will, however, take crackers. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable. In terms of parking, there's a few spaces in front of the store, but you're better off parking in the large lot across the street, next to the fire department. For all of the underage kiddies, I rarely, if ever, get carded here. I also look at least five years older than I actually am, so I wouldn't take this as an invitation to waltz in wearing your prep school uniform. read more

Most people I talk to say that this store has the best selection in all of eastern Pennsylvania. I think that it has perhaps the best high-end selection, but the Bryn Mawr store has more interesting mid-priced wines. The Bryn Mawr store's cold room is a tiny bit bigger too. During this visit I was looking for dessert wines but was a bit disappointed in the skimpy selection. read more

I favor privatization and am generally against this little piece of Moscow in the USA so the highest rating I'll give a W&S store is a 3. This is the biggest and best W&S in my area though. They are open more than any other locations nearby and they have the best selection. If I don't feel like driving to Delaware, I go here. Downsides: parking sucks at this strip mall, and then there are all the regular beefs about the state run liquor arrangement. One of my favorite wines, Willamette valley vineyards pinto noir is $28 vs $20 in Delaware, NJ, or Virginia. And that's one that they actually carry. Hopefully privatization comes to PA while I'm still young enough to care about fair alcohol prices and good selection. read more

So this is my first experience with a state-run liquor store. Interesting to say the least. Why is it that the clerk can't take my alcohol out of the basket?? Weird. Uber stars for carrying my latest favorite wine, Plungerhead Zin. I had a tough time finding this in Chicago. Minus one star for not carrying my favorite Scotch, Balvenie. I found an acceptable substitute (Bruichladdich), but still disappointing. Not much parking right in front, but the extra parking next to the fire station is nice. read more

When you have stores like this, the state liquor systems doesn't seem so bad. They have a pretty good selection, and I can generally find what I need. It seems like every time I stop in they're sampling something by the registers. The parking lot out front usually sucks, but there's a huge free lot across the street. It's a place that has things other stores don't so it can be worth the trip. read more

I head over to the Ardmore Wine & Spirts about once a week and have never had a bad customer service moment. On top of being clean and well stocked, the staff has always been able to answer a question or help me find whatever I'm looking for. There is one gray haired guy who works the register a lot who is really friendly and usually cracks a few jokes to people while I'm waiting in line. read more

I came in on a Sunday with my mom for supplies for a family party. The selection is fine, but I have never seen such a miserable staff in my life. Each one looked more pissed off than the last. An old woman was carrying multiple bottles to the register and set them down on a counter for some relief. The woman at the register didn't even look up and just said "I'm closed." The guy ringing us up at the other register actually said to an entire line full customers, "Why don't any of you stay home? Or go to the shore, or for a nice Sunday drive?? Why'd you all have to come in here?" He proceeded to tell me that he hated his job and couldn't wait to never work another Sunday in his life. I probably shouldn't have engaged him, but I asked "Isn't the point of retail for people to patronize the establishment?", to which he responded, "Not for me." Ugh, such a turn off. Maybe he's just mad that everyone's buying stuff for parties and he doesn't have any to go to. I'd rather go anywhere else than deal with the misery that is this place. read more

This is now the only place I will willingly go to buy wine in the state of PA. I second most of the positive comments in other reviews and will add that the staff is usually able to give good suggestions for large purchases if you are hosting a party or reception. But on occasion I have found the staff to be rushed, which I find annoying when I am buying a case or more of decently priced wine. I have also been annoyed when they have recommended wines that, when asked, they admit they have never tried. That's just lame. But it is a fun place to browse, with some unusual stock covering a wide price range. They also stock local spirits, like Blue Coat, which makes me happy. In sum, given that PA is essentially locked in the Prohibition era, I am grateful that I live within walking distance of this little oasis. read more

As far as a liquor store goes, it is a pretty nice one. It is well-lit and organized and the shelves are well-stocked. I like to go in and just look at everything and reminisce about the olden days of drinking a lot, but usually don't buy anything -- this is a very good store to wander, whether or not you intend to buy anything. read more

It is a PA store which is a problem for good wine. They are unable to order wine if it is already reserved for restaurants. Staff has limited knowledge in fine wines and the chairman selection is not that great. I am so glad we live near Jersey and Delaware. Total Wines in Delaware and The Corkscrew in Princeton are the best! read more

I too received poor service, in that I felt very much disrespected by two male staff. I am well over 21 and mistakingly came in without ID, accompanying a friend. Understood, there are protocols; but, the manner in which I was spoken to was very rude and berating. Furthermore, upon coming back (again, I accompanied a friend whom was purchasing - I was not), I was demanded to sign some sort of a consent confirming my home address. When I heard the clerk state, "sign this, please" (rashly... Also, assuming they were speaking to my friend making the purchase), I stood there. It wasn't until he repeated it (with a nasty tone as well as non verbals... He clearly had some issue with me, but not my friend) that I realized he was speaking to me. At this point, I asked, "what is that? I'm not signing anything without knowing what it is. I also didn't make a purchase, so I'm confused as to why I'm signing anything". Been there for 7 years and never saw a document like that, ever. So, I ask management what it is and what's the measure by which you decide to enforce it, at which point I'm told, "it's up to the clerk". I kindly told the manager to speak with his staff regarding service, because this was ridiculous. As I'm speaking with the manager, same clerk is jumping in; being combative, and continuing to clearly be nasty toward me (we had 2 bottles that he still hadn't rung out, too busy trying to argue). Finally, the manager signaled for the guy to be quiet, after about 5 minutes. I work in customer service myself and this was not a good representation. I definitely feel microaggressions and personal biases played a role, which I won't tolerate. Do better. read more
