This is one of those major interchange stations where you can connect to the tube, the over ground, and the national network. It isn't a terminus station, but it is still quite large, no doubt because it does happen to have national rail services stopping here, though they don't always do that because, well, some of them are express as you probably should be catching them at the termini. It's not a bad station though, and they also have a bus interchange here as well. read more

Most of the shark is buried at the shark cemetary, but guess where the Fin's Buried? Here, at Fins-Buried Park. Finsbury Park is a posh and busy part of North London, not far from Camden Town, and Islington and Arsenal Football Club and all the good stuff. It's very busy and it has overground services, and it's generally a good place, although I've been delayed here a couple of times. It's still one of the better stations around in my opinion. But not enough for five stars. read more

Like many of London's excellent Tube stations, Finsbury Park isn't JUST a Tube station .... it's intermodal also with a National Rail and two bus stations, all interconnected. While it only serves the Victoria line, it's an excellent alternative if you're headed to a Gunners match and/or you want to skip the mess of Arsenal's station being packed with fans (headed to Emirates Stadium) on match day. It's also (obviously) the best choice if headed to Finsbury Park, as well as to Brownswood, Falconer, Highbury, The London Fashion Centre, City and Islington College, and Arsenal FC's flagship merchandise store. One bonus at Finsbury Park -- and one you should leave yourself plenty of time to enjoy -- are the floor-to-ceiling mosaics that line the walls. They were created by Annabel Grey in 1983 who also created the famed vitreous and colorful enamel panels at the Marble Arch station. The funny part is they MAY be based on mistaken history. The six hot-air balloon murals are thought to represent London's Finsbury Fields -- famed for Vincenzo Lunardi first flight in England (on a balloon) -- but those fields are actually several kilometers south. You'll also find a dueling pistol mural with the same debated misunderstanding. Whatever the case is, these murals are beautiful ... a great addition to a great Tube station. read more

One of North London's busiest stations connecting commuters and general passengers to all parts of London and also beyond. Finsbury Park is a train station located in the heart of the Finsbury Park area with not only great transport links to be grateful for but also once out of the station you are equipped with all of the local amenities and miniature wonders that this area has to offer. With the station both serving the Victoria Line (allowing quick access to central London and East London ) and the Piccadilly Line (serving routes to Heathrow airport and deeper into North London) it is also host to the Greater Northern Rail which has services to Stevenage and beyond in that direction as well as Kings Cross. Due to the extensive network of routes you can imagine the popularity of this station and hence why it deserves 4 stars as although the station has frequent trains and located in an upcoming and young at heart area as well as everyone surprisingly moving in, out of the station in a orderly fashion it has to lose a star for the endless queues during morning rush hour with queues extending up the stairs at times as well as the poorly connected platforms. With this station being my regular commuting route and travelling off peak frequently, I could not fault this station anymore. read more

The long tunnels leading to the platform area are surprisingly orderly considering the sheer volume of people going in and out during rush hour. Finsbury Park station is a convenient combo of tube (Victoria and Piccadilly lines) and national rail services (Kings Cross and beyond, and to Moorgate). Bus stops are located adjacent to each of the three exits. You can pick up 'Fast Ticket' tickets that you have ordered online from the National Rail machines. There are loads of shops and fast food places by the station, plus the official Arsenal shop. At the Wells Terrace exit you'll find a fruit stall - in the summer months the sweet smell of strawberries is amazing! Beware: If you need a receipt for Travelcards DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THE TICKET MACHINES. You need to purchase at the counter. Why? Because no receipt will be dispensed even if you select the receipt option. I have queried the station staff many times and apparently it's a defect in the system. I find this unacceptable, especially as machines in other TFL stations happily print receipts. This is my only gripe about Finsbury Park station. read more

I had a conversation with someone recently. They told me to meet them at this station. 'Which entrance?' I asked. To which they replied 'the one by the bus station'. To which I replied 'which bus station?' Yes really, the tube station has three exits, widely separated by long tunnels, two of which come out in different bus stations The main entrance is via Station Place, which forms a triangle with the junction of Seven Sisters Road and Stroud Green, and also hosts stops for loads of busses, which seem to be on routes to the South. There's ticket offices and a few shops here, including a large shop where you can get Arsenal football kit if that's your thing. It's also had a vast modernistic canopy added, which looks great but does little to keep the wind and rain off. North there's an exit on Wells Terrace, with more bus stops, routes heading North as far as I know, and if you head from there towards Fonthill Road you'll find loads of cheap clothes shops. The third exit is onto Seven Sisters Road, under the railway lines. I've never actually used the train station, only used the tube a few times and more often the busses. Tube means those long straight tunnels past the poor guy in a little cabin deep underground (look out for the places to swipe your oyster on the walls if I remember rightly). The bus station is the end of the line so you get to sit and watch the bus driver sitting and waiting while you shiver in the cold and wonder how long it's going to be before he puts the lights on and you can start your journey. read more

Finsbury Park Tube Station should be avoid at all times. And I do try. But there are a few occasions when in a fit of romance I've gone to meet my partner from work and we come home on the tube together. I never, never know which way to turn at the top of the stairs to get me to the right exit. From the moment the train pulls out of station before I'm wracking my brain trying to think 'left or right, right or left.?' And then we come back on the Piccadilly line and any head way I'd made with my memory is shot out of the sky. Seven Sister's Tube is the same as is Manor House. It doesn't seem to matter which exit I go in there is no chance I'll find my way out of the same one, none at all. And the trouble with all these stations, Finsbury Park being the worst of all these three, especially on match days, the trouble is that when you reach street level you really rather wish you hadn't bothered. More often than not, day or night, Finsbury Park gives you the impression that you are going to be jumped on and the best thing to do is get out of it as fast as you can keeping a tight hold of all your belongings. All I can say is thank god there is always a 106 ready and waiting to whisk me away when I do eventually make it to the surface. read more
