I was hosting a dinner event about a 5 minutes walk from this modern looking Overground station and it was very easy to get to from North London. One would totally miss this station walking on the main road as you have to make 2 turns off of it just to see the station and there aren't any signs pointing you to it. It's conveniently listed as a Zone 1/2 station so you can cheaply get to it if you are coming from the North. If you're going to some places in between Old Street Station and Shoreditch High Street Station then check to see if this station is actually the closest to where you are heading cause it might be. Never really very busy and there's always an attendant in the booth ( who's actually typically very useful ).

East Acton itself feels more like quiet country village than a part of Inner London, and the station, surrounded as it is by banks thick with vegetation, is suitably sedate. The little whitewashed, weatherboarded waiting rooms on each platform add even more to the village atmosphere and feel like a god-send on grotty winter days. On the main part of the Central Line, customers at East Acton will never have to wait much longer than two minutes for a train in either direction, nor do they have long queues to deal with when seeking to top-up their Oyster cards.

Well what can…read moreI say they have put some money into the station and it is much brighter open and welcoming. They have made it very similar to most stations which have had a face lift. I know where the big open entrance space is there used to be some small businesses there which have obviously been moved on to where I have no idea. The station provides good quick connections into London and out towards Crayford and Dartford. All in all a much nicer station to wait for your train.

We needed to transfer from our usual line to another to explore London a little more. When I walked into the station, I was drawn in by the massive curved canopy and the larger platform landings. This station was built in 1868 and can imagine what it looked like then. Many years before cars, people were commuting through London via underground rail. The place has history and it was cool to see, while you are on your way to see other places.

Close to South Ealing station - you can see it from the Northfields platform. Last station on Piccadilly line in Zone 3 on the Heathrow branch. Northfields is also a depot so beware trains can abruptly stop there. Good if you live in the area, not so good if on the way to Heathrow. There is a small shop selling newspapers, magazines, confectionery and drinks and a flower stand that has a good range of flowers, bouquets at reasonable prices. A cash machine and toilets are also available. Station was renovated a couple of years ago and has improved train displays indicating trains on the way (not necessarily how long they will be - but then again London Underground minutes are not known to be too accurate).
