When my rescued Boston Terrier passed away at nearly fourteen years old my heart was broken. She was there for our wedding, first apartment together, move to Denver, our first house, our first baby and second. You name it, she was there-- supporting us. No dog loves harder than a rescue-- Sammie was proof of that. But with a two year old and newborn we decided to hold off on getting another. Months of my toddler asking where Sammie had gone, was torture. While I was sure we would adopt a rescue, my original thought of an adult dog was diminishing. Over time we decided the next addition to our family would be a puppy, so we wouldn't have to deal with our children's heartache anytime soon. Heartland Humane Society was outstanding. They were very responsive, they had answers to any question and they did their homework to ensure each animal goes to a good home. After seeing a photo online, inquiring, trading numerous emails followed by submitting an eventually approved application we traveled nearly 100 miles to meet him. It was love at first sight. The moment he rolled on his back for a belly rub, having spotted our toddler, we just knew. We adopted a nearly six month old pup, Arlo Guy. Please adopt, don't shop. This organization is fabulous.

Our first visit was a last-minute emergency appointment for our cat Sophie who was having stomach problems. Kaitlyn, a Veterinary Assistant, was very kind and helpful. Dr. Drew White, a Veterinarian, was extremely professional, thorough, kind, and compassionate. He expertly diagnosed Sophie's problem and gave us some medicine that helped her feel better. Our second and third visits were vaccine appointments for all three of our cats. One of our cats hates riding in the car, and she made a mess in her carrier on the way to the vet. We didn't ask or expect anyone to do this, but Chloe, a Veterinary Assistant, offered to clean the carrier for us. My spouse and I were amazed by her proactive helpfulness and kindness. We appreciate you, Chloe! Dr. Drew White and Chloe were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and attentive during both of our vaccine appointments. Dr. Drew White answered all of my questions clearly and thoroughly, which I appreciated very much. He has a great "bedside manner". The high quality care our cats have received (as well as the high quality service we have received) influenced my spouse and I to switch from our old vet to Family Animal Care. Even though it's a longer drive, it's totally worth it for us. In my experience, Family Animal Care's prices are fair and reasonable. We're so grateful for their awesome staff and facility. After I returned home from my business trip I called them and said that I would like to pick up my dog. I picked her up the lady at the front desk was very nice and understanding. I asked about a return of the $120 that was paid. They did not want to return the money I told them that no services were rendered and that was Not acceptable. I left my phone number. They checked with one of the owners. They charge me $60 to put my dog in the freezer. We've done business with them before but I will never do business with them again. I could understand possibly thirty dollars but Sixty dollars is outrageous for nothing.
