This was rated at the top of the local restaurants. Everyone was not wrong. My husband ordered the Reuben and loved every bite. I got the grilled ham and cheese sandwich and was happy as well. My fries were outstanding and my husband enjoyed his fried onion chips. The wait crew were always on the move. And best of all, this was the least expensive meal we have had on our trip so far. We were in town with about 5,000 other geocachers for GeoWoodstock, a game of hide and seek where people hide containers around the world and post coordinate locations for others to find and sign a logsheet. The owner is fantastic!! good place to visit!!The cook was rude won't smile when owner asked her to she looked like she was still drunk from the night before and had an attitude with the owner . . food was not good she didn't cook my eggs all the way thru and then just through a piece of cheese on top and it didn't even melts because the eggs were cold . . This was very interesting place. Designed from an old firehouse you can still see the pole slide and the trap door a fireman would drop through. Just don't drive past it like we did lol. Had the pictured breakfast and it was excellent. The food going by looked simply delicious. The folks remind you of family and the service was excellent. The service, ambiance, prices, and portion sizes were great! Wait staff were friendly and speedy considering how busy the restaurant was, and the kitchen seemed to keep up with the demand well. But the garden salad came out really wet, so much so that after I added my dressing and stirred the salad, the dressing was watered down. I had been back home to visit after a lengthy absence and although I have my sentimental Hutchinson area restaurant favorites; I had heard so much about the Red Firehouse Cafe, I wanted to have lunch there. It was a terrific place! It has a solid menu with reasonable prices, breakfast is served all day and the food is delicious. I had the Weekend Special - Green Chile Pork Stew with two eggs over easy, crispy hash browns and housemade flour tortillas ($11.79) with a housemade salsa for an additional $2.50. I loved the heat! My husband had Chicken Fried Steak ($10.99) with green beans, mashed potatoes and white gravy, a side salad and some really tasty onion rings ($3.99). The dining experience was very enjoyable! Our waitress was welcoming and so friendly and the atmosphere is unique. The converted Firehouse is full of paraphernalia, photos and fire equipment. There are tables and chairs or deep comfy booths and plenty of A/C. There are actually two doors that you can use to enter as most of the parking is around back; but people park in a grassy area where there's shade as well. I would definitely return and was glad we had thought outside my usual choices. read more

Awesome place with news clippings of local firefighters thru the years. Had the Claudia breakfast plate and it was a ton of food and tasted great. Waiters were very polite and check on you regularly, the kid with the coffee pot will keep you topped off. read more

We were in Hutchinson for a weekend and decided we wanted brunch on a Sunday morning. This restaurant popped up as an option and we are so glad we tried it. They were very busy and we learned from one of the locals that they were short staffed. We couldn't tell. The service was quick and the food as excellent. We had double the amount we needed so it was well worth the money. They let us go upstairs to look around. The former firehouse has been converted to a restaurant very tastefully.
