    Pork tenderloin sandwich

I'm in town for a few days and wasn't sure where to go. Thanks to the trusty Google and Yelp, I found Skaets which appears to have opened in 1949. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was very good. The tenderloin had a nice flavor and the fries were also well cooked, though not too well done. Overall, a good place with reasonable prices. They've also got all-day breakfast.

Food was so good! The lady was so nice to be and my service dog highly recommend to anyone that doesn't want to cook but the closest thing to a home cooked meal. Cute little place.

These was the ultimate omelette and a half order of biscuits and gravy it was delicious

It's an older building but kept well. They have seating upfront by the cooks. I stopped for dinner and wanted breakfast so I came here and I was glad I came.

Always a great feeling to find an added ingredient when you're almost done with your BLT :-)

Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon while in town for the basketball tournament. This is what I would consider a "greasy spoon" with a home style type of feel, and the usual crowd. We opted to sit at the counter which was right by the grill like a diner and ordered a couple of beverages. I asked what everyone orders and got a smile and told to get the moon burger. I obliged and went with fries. The moon burger is a standard thick burger with bacon and cheese, toppings on the side and a nice helping of fries. Main issue here was how long it took to get our food. Keep in mind, I can see the cook and the tickets he was working on and rather than do the burgers together and look at all tickets he took the tables one at a time. Took forever to get the food which I had to whoop down and barely got a chance to taste let alone savor. Fries were fresh and the burger had a nice flame char to it. Overall- it wasn't anything incredible but I got a coffee mug and we headed back to the bus. Somehow this place didn't offer milkshakes. There was a couple pie options but I decided to save the extra jean size and leave with what I got.

Had an EXTREMELY disappointing experience here. Having worked here when I was a kid, I looked forward to finally getting to be a customer. However, we waited close to 40 minutes for our orders. Meanwhile, a table of customers we watched walk in, were served before us. ALL of the food was cold. (We saw it sitting on the waitress station for nearly 5 minutes before it came to our table.) Steak was luke warm-ish, my parent's hash browns were cold AND overdone. I, unfortunately won't subject myself to that experience again for the sake of nostalgia

This is my second time trying this place. I am writing the review as I wait for my omelet. The last meal was good. This is a nice locally owned greasy spoon type place. They are nice. The service is fast and friendly. They have adapted to the post covid life. Paper disposable menus and spacious dining and such. I am sure that I will become a regular here as I just moved to town. They have a pretty good menu variety. They have breakfast all day, steaks and many other diner type fare.

Excellent place for breakfast, lunch and supper. On the most recent visit we at breakfast. Had the Special Omelet, best omelet I've had for sometime. Learned a lot on how it was made by sitting at the bar where you can watch them prepare your food. The omelet's are made with real eggs, not egg mix, they whip it up right there at the griddle. Hash browns and toast also came with the meal. They have a great selection of jams such as peach and blackberry. (Just one of the small things that can help with an impression of a place.) Service was prompt. If you go at peak times, you will have to wait for a seat as the place is small. But it is worth the wait. The small size it what makes for better food and the feel of an old fashion cafe which is what it is.

The walls are filled with decorations and memorabilia, and there are plenty of TVs around the dining room, which makes it a comfortable place for someone dining solo. I ordered the three-meat plate and paid the extra $2.99 upgrade for the brisket. Unfortunately, the brisket was the biggest disappointment of the meal. It came with three slices that were roughly four inches long and quite thin, and the meat itself was very dry. They didn't appear to be much effort to keep it moist. It lacked the smoke flavor you'd hope for from barbecue. Almost felt like it was cafeteria produced and an assembly line for multiple meals, but yet I was maybe an hour before closing and there were three other solo diners plus a large party. I also tried the hot links, which unfortunately tasted fairly plain and again didn't have much of that smoky barbecue character. The St. Louis ribs, however, were actually very good. They were tender and flavorful, but the portion felt a bit light....only two ribs were included, and given how small the brisket portion was, a third rib would have helped balance the plate. The real standout of the meal ended up being the baked beans. They included brisket burnt ends mixed into the beans, and they were excellent. Honestly, I could have happily eaten a double portion of those. The Texas toast felt pretty standard likely the frozen variety warmed on a flat top. I sampled a few of the house BQQ sauces as well. The Memphis-style wasn't really my preference, and the spicy sauce had a bit of heat but it was inconsistent. You'd notice it in one bite and then not at all in the next. Service was okay overall, though it seemed like my server may have gone on break during the meal without handing off the table. I had to flag someone down halfway through to get a drink refill, especially since water isn't offered automatically. The mashed potato's used a breakfast pepper gravy which was odd tasting and you could tell it was a packet powder. Overall, the atmosphere was enjoyable and the baked beans were genuinely great, but the barbecue itself felt inconsistent and especially the brisket. As someone who enjoys cooking barbecue at home, I know how good it can be when it's done right. If anything, I might come back just for another serving of those beans... and maybe to see if they'll share that recipe. Haha

She chose Roy's Hickory Smoked BBQ, and wow, are we glad she did! Pulling up, I was a little skeptical at first, but there were a few cars outside so we decided to give it a try. I hadn't paid attention to the hours on Yelp, and when I saw the sign on the door that said "11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. or until sold out," I told my wife, "Hopefully they still have some food left!" As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by that wonderful smoky barbecue aroma. We looked over the menu board and my wife chose the two-meat platter with ribs and brisket. It came with two sides from the cold case, beans, corn, pickles, and a drink. I ordered the brisket and ham sandwich, which also included two sides, beans, corn, homemade pickles, and a drink. The prices were very reasonable. After selecting our sides, we grabbed a small plate of beans, corn, and homemade pickles and found a seat in the second dining room. The restaurant has a large community table in the front room along with additional seating in the other rooms. Before our main dishes even arrived, we were impressed. The beans and corn had excellent flavor, and I was tempted to go back for more. When our meals arrived, they looked absolutely amazing. My wife's ribs were huge, tender, and practically falling off the bone. Her brisket looked moist and perfectly smoked. My brisket and ham sandwich was piled high and looked just as good. I was disappointed they had sold out of the bologna, but after trying the ham, I quickly got over it. The ham was delicious on its own, and adding their barbecue sauce made My wife and I were traveling home from Colorado through Kansas and starting to get hungry.
