History
Established in 1985.
Fire Shield Fire Protection, Inc. is the vision of Nelson Ligon who began operation in relatively small office in Dallas, Texas. Nelson previously worked in the fire protection industry for over 5 years before forming Fire Shield.
Over 30 years later Fire Shield has become a successful family business. Having grown beyond fire extinguisher sales and maintenance, Fire Shield has expanded into kitchen fire suppression systems and life safety supplies. "We've made it our business to protect the things our customers value most."

Meet the Business Owner: Nelson L.
With little money to invest in Fire Shield getting started, Nelson Ligon was very fortunate to have a friend who was willing to allow Nelson to build off of his fire equipment business. "It was 1984 and I was using the Brinson Fire & Safety name, invoices, and bank account to get my own business off the ground. It took about a year to make the switch, but in 1985 Fire Shield was fully up and running."
Moving from employee to employer was a bit unorthodox for Nelson. Nelson recalls, "I was at a place in my life where I knew I needed to make a firm commitment to serve the Lord. Through prayer, I realized that I needed to start my own business and I was to name it Fire Shield."
From the early years of knocking on doors business-to-business, to the one-on-one approach to every customer; Nelson adds, "We didn't get to this place by taking an easy road. We've been blessed by the grace of God, the hardest working employees, and the best customers you could ask for in this industry."
